Samsung N110 is the one I recommend if you can afford it. Asus 1005HA isn't far behind at all though. If you can go to PC World and see them in the flesh, and see which you like best, I would.

The Asus Eee PC 1005HA is a good option, too. About £240 inc VAT makes it a bargain. Bit sleeker and more rounded than the NC10 – also comes in white!

Same matte display, a good keyboard and a pleasure to use.

And, yes, the Dell Mini series is rubbish. The 9 was the best one, the 12 was the worst and the 10 is a good design almost completely ruined by a dreadful, dreadful trackpad.

I got a Reign X0 back in 07 and it's a mini-DH bike dressed up in trail bike pantaloons.

It's begging for dual ply tyres, a shorter/wider stem/bar setup and burlier wheels. In it's stock guise (single plys, light wheels etc) it's still a bitch to drag around trail centres, and far too comfy to make them any fun. And conversely, without DH bits hanging off it, it's too lightweight to really enjoy a dh course.

I'd also say it's far too similar to your Intense. Just save your cash, whack on fat dualplys and a nice short stem/wide handlebar and give it a bash. If you like it, get a DH bike proper!

I think, and I don't want to jinx myself here, it's worked!!! A whole ride without any slippage whatsover! Woohoo!

I bodged it a little, though, as you can see in the blurry pic below:

To echo someone else's comment, i also wouldn't be afraid to make the rebound fairly slow. If in doubt slow it down more. The number one issue I've had with tuning air shocks has been having the rebound far too quick.

After all, how fast a fork rebounds in the carpark squidge test is rarely how it responds when its really getting battered deep into its travel by chuffing great big rocks…..

I recently got some Pike 454 Airs and can safely say that the recommended psi figures are even less useful than those in Fox manuals. Total and utter nonsense.

After getting the sag right with both chambers set to the same psi I ended up squeezing a few more PSI into the negative chamber. Seemed to get things feeling a bit more supple even if i did lose a mm or two of travel….

Well, I'll install the Tuggnut without the non-drive insert and see what happens.

If that doesn't fix it, well, then it's bodge time. thanks for the suggestions chaps! 🙂

Bike's at home and I'm at work unfortunately, otherwise I'd gladly do some pics!

It's just shifting back a few mm in the non-drive dropout, while the other side seems to stay put. With the external cam QRs it shifted enough to leave the tyre rubbing against the frame, but while the Deore QR is better, it's still moving.

I was wondering whether poor brake setup could be the issue. There's no rubbing, and the brake (Juicy 7s) works fine, but could poor alignment be pulling the wheel out of whack?

Depends what you class as overweight though, innit?

I'm nigh on 17 stone, 6'4", and have no beer belly in sight, yet the BMI index insists I'm well into the overweight category. 🙄

If I really, really dieted like crazy, I could probably hit 16 stone, but then I;d still be classed as overweight, and decidedly more miserable to boot.

I had really bad hand ache with the grips that came stock on my Reign X. the thin grips meant my hands would cramp up halfway through hairy downhill sections, and generally make it very difficult to hold on.

Swapped to some ODI Rogue Lock-Ons and haven't had a problem since. I also bought some Oury's, which feel lovely, but I found them just a little too squidgy.

Ahh, found it. £250 is great value!

Now all i need to do is find £250.

I've trawled through the thread for a price, but am i right in thinking these lights are the best part of £500?

Hmm, chain tugs eh, that could work! I dismissed them as I presumed you couldn't use them with a geared setup and a QR.

Also, while I'm thinking about it, have you got any suggestions for particular tugs to buy, or will any do? 🙂

Minions (and HRs for that matter) come up small. A 2.35 Minion is like most other 2.2s, and a 2.35 is like a 2.1.

I have a Huthcinson BArracuda 2.35 and an HR 2.35 on my Chameleon, and the Barracuda is significantly bigger…. 🙂

If I had a credit card, there wouldn't have been any credit to spend! I'm just not credit-card compatible. 😆

I was waiting until pay day (tomorrow) to get a pair at £419. 🙁

I rang up last friday and the bloke said they had loads of em, 131 to be precise, and they wouldn't go back to 600 until they sold 31 of the blighters. Given that they'd sold about 10 in the last couple of months that sounded unlikely…..

Damn it damn it damn it.

Right, well for about £170 they sound like a goer!

Thanks for all the info, guys. I'm just concerned that firm springs might be impossible to come by, and as I'm 17 stone of pure, rippling beer belly I'll need all the spring I can get. I know the air assist helps, but excessive PSI ruins the silky smooth action from what I've read…

I'll give Windwave a bell on monday, but if you hear anything useful, Rolf, then I'd be grateful for the info! 🙂
