Is there a guide to the faces?
People used to wear them on t-shirts. something to do with drugs i think.
you're not on drugs are you ton? You could buy even more bike stuff if you stopped.

    Priorities man, priorities.
Boasting about high earnings can haunt you though, lots of redundancies about and some may regret losing £XX on a single frame in future.
Some have more than one hobby/children/child support/bigger houses in more expensive areas/likings for recreational illegal substances.
But to be fair its your money, you've earned it; do what you want with it.

But but but I feel that skyline is dull, even july. Far too much fireroad IMHO and even descending on it! If you do it though ignore the diversion, you'll miss some of the best bits and it's only 2 felled trees (easily negotiated).
I was planning to do the wall quick bite then penhydd. Even though penhydd is not too technical, it's still a bloody riot! Argoed, hidden valley and sidewinder are a hoot!

The mitsi kit can also come with a tank complete with top up heater and has the advantage of being controlled via a common electronic unit.
    Take a look at this;
    http://www.mitsubishi-heating.com/ms_homeowner.asp
I can recommend mitsi kit having used it in a professional capacity many times, and you know that you're buying refrigeration equipment (because that's what it is) from the experts. Says that you can get grants on that page. Daikin also do the altherma range.
    What's your load (in KW?)?

I think they were a bit iffy to begin with. The problem was low grade heat (55degC I think which was dodgy for radiators) but now the mitsubishi ecodan comes with a cascade refrigeration system allowing higher temps. Very efficient, and the tech is proven but electrical energy will be more expensive than natural gas. I have a mate who works for mitsubishi if you want a contact for info.
My advice is make sure that the output matches your requirements during the coldest winter months. eg, if you know you need 25Kw of heat; make sure the system can deliver it at -5degC, and is NOT 25KW nominal duty.

That same countryside which is the result of industry e.g. farming? Personally i think FC plantations and arable fields are a hideous blot on the landscape.

Am I right in thinking that you are not a fan of farming? In an ideal world, the UK would still be all indigenous forest (and the riding would be ace). I see what your saying about the plantations, but they're angelic compared to fields of monsterous bright white turbines. At least the forests are organic.

OK, do you prefer food to be imported with the associated travel costs?
Do you think local produce is not of good quality?
If we had less organic produce, we could really minimise the arable land usage here.

Ok fair enough, fair mistake to make.
There is currently far far more excitement to be had in the RM and the Army.

Apologies for the back garden comment it was a bit childish.
Once again, I'm in agreement with coffeeking. Offshore or in the cities where we've already ruined the landscape would be ideal. I'd like to see the calcs for the piezo, too. I'll dig out the numbers on wind from the CPD but they weren't impressive to say the least.

Molgrips, its about benefit vs cost and the benefit (not great) is not worth the cost. We will be ripping these out sooner than you think.
How about we put one into your back garden "for the common good"?

    What coffeeking
I hate to say it, but IMHO nuclear is really the only short to medium term solution. I a daft mad scientist way, I like the piezo power; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1027362/Britains-eco-nightclub-powered-pounding-feet-opens-doors.html;jsessionid=8E5C2E2171677653186E8DE0E50ADDFF

Have you been to the valleys?

Once or twice. Completely different scenario though.
Those times were all about industry, these are all about social responsibility and I don't think it's socially responsible to erect these things. Have you heard of "externalities"? Horrible economists speak I know; but I just don't think the benefit is worth the cost for this tech. You can put a monetary value on energy harvested/saved but can you on our unique countryside?

    backhander
    Free Member

As I understand it, the problem is that we cannot effectively store electrical energy, therefore the energy produced by the turbines is only available immediately as the wind blows. I think that they are a complete eyesore and really only scrape the surface of the problem. I predict that our children and grandchildren will be ripping these things out. I had a CPD from a manufacturer recently and a 15m high shaft with a 5m blade would not "harvest" enough energy to heat a house. We're clutching at straws, sustainability is relevant to more than just energy and blighting our green areas with **** great white fans for future generations is not sustainable.

If 50% of Army recruits have literacy or numeracy equal to that of a school leaver, then that does not mean that the majority of the Army have a reading age of 14, does it? firstly; 50% is not a majority, secondly; recruits are not reflective of the army and are taught numeracy and literacy, which would bring the levels down below 50% thirdly; School leavers are not 14.
So your quote has merely proved you wrong, hasn't it?
For someone who claims sooooo much experience in joint services; you are criminally ignorant and why so down on the Army?
Ah, jealous of the history, or of the present sterling work done by the guys on the ground?

I'm really enjoying the dangerous book of heroes. Small bite sized tales of all sorts from marlborough to the gurkhas.
I'm embarrassed to think that this may be a childerens book, but I've learned a lot; how britain introduced the abolition of slavery, the magna carta barons loads!
Very easy reading and simply written.

So you think the BBC has a "political agenda of their own"

Yes I do and they freely admit that they do. My comment wa sthat the bbc spin, The topic is irrelevant; a lot like many of your posts.
A liberal bias will slant the report of everything that's what a bias does.
Also, you were the first to make a (nonsense) comparison between afg and WW2.
I'm actually feeling quite sorry for you now as you're completely out of your depth and bordeline trolling.

It has not been suggested by anyone that the bbc is the NAs own personal publicity broadcaster. It has been suggested and demonstrated that the beeb has a political agenda.

Political correspondent Andrew Marr said that "The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people. It has a liberal bias not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias".[5] These comments were reported in the UK national press a couple of weeks later.

Breathtakingly stupid as that comment is

Breathtakingly stupid is comparing a small scale insurgency utilising CAS to the strategic bombing of enemy assets in a full blown world war.
You lost any credibilty that you may have had for that comment alone.
Are you seriously telling me that you think that the bbc reporting is balanced and unbiased?
Back to the Guardian website for you.

BTW, this comment by backhander made me smile : "Ernie, the beeb can try to spin it how they like" ….. because of course everyone knows that the BBC is paid by the Northern Alliance to act as their spin-doctors for them

Are you suggesting that the beeb have no political agenda of their own?
Do you think that the NA are aware of publicity?
I think you're a bit naive if you beleive that the US didn't manufacture the whole "look what the thousand odd NA with janky AKs and their horses did (but we might have helped a little with a fast air, reconaissance and few hundred 1000lbers)".
One minute you're saying that bombing doesn't win wars, the next its

What turn things round for the Northern Alliance was the fact that acquired themselves an airforce

    . Make your mind up.
TJ; the british may not have seen themselves as pakistani just as muslims, and if afgan were still in business do you think they'd still have trained in pakistan? Do you really think that the fact that there are troops in afgan had no influence on the bombers at all?????!!!??

No, I don't think that WW2 qualifies as asymetric.
Do you remeber something called the blitz, and that the luftwaffe was 4 times the size of the RAF? That at one point that the RAF were down to less that 100 aircraft/pilots? I really don't see your point.
    Couldn't be more different.

Great plan. Only it doesn't win wars.

It certainly doesn't win asymmetric wars with high concentrations of civilians mixed with a non uniformed enemy.
