Just because you think it ransos, it doesn’t make it anywhere near true.

it does get a bit wearing when they feel they need to evangelise to the rest of the world on its benefits

Ha, I know who that’s aimed at!
Are Turners boutique? I couldn’t care less!
It does what I want very well (and I didn’t buy a cheap one!!!).

I agree with all of that elf. The proof is in the eating as they say.
I test rode trek’s and spesh’s recently. Both good bikes and would’ve been happy on either. This purchase was a bit special though so went for something different (and more expensive) which IMHO rode considerably better than anything else I tried and as such was worth the extra moneys to me

I’ve found the reverse shep. Shops quote 5-7 days, online is usually next day free delivery.

I’ll always buy my bits and bobs from an LBS, regardless of cost (if they have it).
What does amaze me is the LBS’ which have next to nothing on the shelf and offer to order X in! Completely negates the point of a LBS.
My most local one is the worst at this.
If I want to wait, I’ll go online and get the kit quicker and cheaper.
I’ve had to go online to buy brake pads, fox gloves and endura glasses recently.

If you can’t get up that first climb and clip in maybe you should get a roadbike!

If he’s clipping in, he may as well get a road bike!

Rode afan yesterday and it’s running lovely IMO. The “Black” section was perfect!
Cleaned the “sheep track” whites climb on my new bikes first outing too!
Haven’t ridden brechfa raven but have done the red. Nice out there feeling but very little technical challenge.

You think Trek is better than Spesh, but is there a genuine difference? A measurable advantage of one over another? Really?

Is any perceived performance gain measurable? Ive ridden bikes from both of a similar age and spec and I’d far sooner drop my money on the Trek.

Spesh and Trek will have their bikes and kit being raced and ridden all over the World, at myriad different events and situations.

Almost all brands have sponsored riders riding many varied events. Some cannot afford the higher profile ones because they’re not mass producing bikes across the board. The sales of spesh’s cheap commuter bikes must fund much of this marketing.
I have no axe to grind with spesh, I’ll take each bike on it’s own merit (I like the pitch) To say that any companies bikes are better than any others because they’re bigger is not accurate IMO.

Opinion is a funny thing. In my opinion, this film looks shit.
    This looks pretty good though;

Spesh R+D, testing and pro support is way way in excess of someone like Ellsworth for eg, so surely Spesh could well produce the ‘better’ product?

Assuming that spesh has the best designers and engineers, which I don’t agree is the case. Personally I think Trek has a superior product despite being smaller. The same could still be argued for smaller brands again. And at the end of the day; it’s a bicycle, the shock design is done by fox and RS etc.

Zero degrees is shit IMO. Expensive pizzas and horrible beer.
Manos is *really* small. Maybe try Goldbricks, woods and the ram on park st? Meander up to the triangle and try the bars up there?

Aren’t boutique bikes something that some mug is willing to pay more for, despite them being more expensive/lesser performing/uglier than mainstream brands?

Envy is a very ugly emotion.

I think the BOA have made their minds up. I’m confident there will be a “British” team even it’s solely made up of english players!
Personally, I respect the choice of the Scots, Welsh and NI FA’s to retain some independence. It’s their call and they can do what they want.
They cannot stop their players playing though as they don’t own them, so Gareth Bale might get a game.

Singletrack rated the rocky mountain slayer higher than both of the bikes you mention.
If it’s purely gravity riding, I’d look at a custom orange blood or maybe an intense ss built burly with coils front and rear.
You’d get a massive spec for that money I reckon.

I had/have a Joplin 4 which won’t fit in my new frame! Had no bother with it at all.
I’m debating whether to buy another (j4, reverb etc) and currently undecided.
do you raise/lower your post much? There is a weight penalty which is only worthwhile if you’re going to use the thing!

On a beach in tofino, bc. Right on the pacific rim.
We’d spent the day sea kayaking and eating the freshest seafood I’ve ever tasted.
I hadn’t planned to do it there but it seemed perfect and it was early on in the holiday so I had a very happy gf, even when I went off riding!

Hmm, I’m running around 190 at the moment. Today’s afan trip tells me I can get away with a little less which seems to go along with splodges advice. I started to get a good feel for the bike today and although it’ll take a little getting used to, I think I’ve made a very wise choice.
I understand that the rp23 comes with the dcg mod as standard on the 2011 models and I don’t believe it’s a HV can.
I’ll give it some time and then think about a coil.
Still can’t get this fork right though. I never usually suffer arm pump but did today even running the fork well below the recommended pressure. I ended up at 60lbs with zero comp damp. I’m a bit pissed off with it tbh.
Think I’ll drop mojo a line. The bikes filthy right now so I’ll get some pics put up as soon as I can.
I have a week in the gower coming up :D

6ft near as dammit. Gave my large it’s (very wet) shake down ride tonight.
Running fox 36s initially at 160 with the intention to reduce them to 150 or even 140. It climbed so well with no wander that I’ll leave them as they are. I don’t want to lower the front end either, if anything I’d like it a little slacker.
The bike is seriously efficient, looking down at the shock when climbing it wasn’t moving at all and just went quietly forward without any fuss when pedalled. One thing, my new fox kashima forks felt terrible. I’ve had the exact same forks before and they were brilliant but these gave me arm pump and had no small bump compliance at all. I lowered the pressure as far as I dared and ran no comp dampening with no joy. I’m hoping they just need to bed in. I was getting knocked off lines all over the place which I really hope isn’t a trait of the frame!!! Day off so afan tomorrow, I’ll see how it gets on there!
Could any riders let me know they’re weight and what pressure they are running in the rp23 please. I found myself running ~190, which seems high going by the recommendation on the turner site for a 14,7st bloke.

Engineering is not exclusively design based.
That’s just a claim spouted by prima donna designers to make themselves feel special.
    Just check the dictionary.

Anywhere you’re told to go? For any reason?

That is exactly what the military is supposed to do. They can’t pick and choose their conflicts, they go where they are told.

Really? You don’t have to justify your presence in someone elses country?

Ah, I see it’s my fault for voting it, but not yours for actually doing it?

    Judge “and why not?”
Potential juror “to be honest, I’m a f***ing moron”

No, she went on facebook and sent messages to someone she shouldn’t have. Nothing more to it. Claiming that someone doesn’t have the intelligence to understand “have no contact” is a bit daft, particularly when she herself said (in one of the messages) that she could get into trouble for doing it!
As I understand it, she initiated the contact so “manipulation” is pretty far of the mark.

I wasn’t trying to put words in your mouth Grum.
I do disagree that some have an entitlement to feel more offended than others based upon distant history which most of us had nothing to do with.
I’ve been offended at being called a saes by the welsh when I worked there for a few years. The word is pretty innocuous, the intent certainly wasn’t. Retrospectively I’m pleased that I didn’t lower myself to petty racism in return. I used good old fashioned swearwords instead :D
I’m fortunate in that none of my friends are racist in the slightest (probably because we’re not all white!), unfortunately some of my work colleagues are which is even more difficult to deal with.

Not that innocent, she seems to be giving the impression that she was trying to change the jurors minds for her new “friend”.

Again, that’s because white people have historically been the colonial masters exploiting/discriminating against just about every other race around the world for the last few hundred years.

And because of this, they have no right to feel offended?
Because some people who I’ve never met, am not related to and have nothing in common with did some bad things a very long time ago, I have to tolerate intolerance?

I’d volunteer that the homeless, mistreated/abused and mentally ill are more deserving of help than average ability middle class kids with illusions of grandeur wanting a foot up or middle class adults wanting a house on a plate personally.

    read the f***ing thread.

Libya when people in this country struggle to get on the housing ladder, will need to work to 70 then subsist on a poverty-level pension, will struggle to fund their kids’ higher education

Struggle with house ownership? higher education?
Do you feel that these are entitlements?
