Cures for and prevention (sanitation etc) of disease as well as the prevention of and intervention (aid etc) in famine goes hand in hand with our evolution.

Yep. No, maybe you’re right and the africans dying of treatable diseases don’t know how good they have it.

Well there’s areas of the world still doing it. They don’t seem to like it much.

Did my grandads a few weeks ago. I found (strangely) getting angry kept my composure. A frown, gritted teeth and a clear of the throat. My tiny 19 year old (female) cousin had no such problems and made me (33yr 6ft ex-commando) feel a bit foolish. Glad I did it though so don’t be put off.

Hunching up my shoulders. Don’t know why I do it. Wide bars have helped a little though.

Get yourself over there dodge. Th climb is a little more techy than those at afan but as pointed out you can hit the forest road if needed. Nothing tech on the DH bits.

no need for carbon capture on a wood boiler – wood is biogenic/short cycle carbon so not a fossil fuel. essentially carbon neutral

If you’re right (and I’m not doubting you), there’s an awful lot of people/companies who are concerned about it as any google search will show.
    http://www.biomassenergycentre.org.uk/portal/page?_pageid=75,163182&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
    Small but not carbon neutral.

Stoner’s right from a financial point of view. It must be said though that gas and oil are more carbon intensive than electricity so whilst cheaper (at the moment) gas and oil are not more efficient or “greener” than ASHP, which with the efficiency advantage (COP/EER of 4 compared to 0.89) makes ASHP quite attractive to the “green” types given the correct application. If you want to reduce your CO2 footprint with biomass, you would need expensive carbon capture filters at point of burn. Stoner, you do have carbon capure on that biomass boiler don’t you? 😀

Hmm, I won’t be intending to publish anything on websites or the like, but may want to print some of the better ones to A4 or even A3 size. I’d like something that I could take with me walking, climbing and riding in case the opportunity to photograph something nice arises but would like to be more involved than I feel currently with my compact. I;m happy to put the time in to learn the capabilities of a camera and get the skills to use it. I don’t feel like my compact is much cop for anything quick, it’s just a camera for pointing and saying “SMILE”!
    For reference I have one of these;
    http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equipment/reviews/compactcameras/469/1/panasonic-lumix-dmc-fx100.html
I do like Lumix, and indeed panasonic. Not sure why, just feels nice. 😀

(I bet all this is really helping the OP :/ )

Frazzled. But glad you all seem to be enjoying yourselves 😀
I’ve seen a cuople of comments to the effect of “the NEXs look pretty good” which is praise enough for me coming from such camera savvy people. Happy to listen to any other suggestions for 4/3 cameras though.

In Wales, we have the additional factor in that most won’t learn our language, which makes it difficult for them to integrate into the community.

hmmmmmm have the thought police seen this?

which immigrant groups won’t learn the language then?

Quite. England has similar problems but risk being termed racist if pointing it out or failing to embrace the non-english speakers.

Thanks Torminalis, I think the sony is a micro four thirds job. Is this any good? I’ve had a read of the camera thread but most of it went over my head.

Sorry, forgot about san carlos. Not sure how they’d feel about having a stag party in there though! Don’t know what the other places are though.

Did you get the pads with the brakes?
If so, they’re organic. Mine didn’t last a ride in the welsh grit. Got some superstar sintered, no probs with pad wear since.
Not sure about the pistons though. I’d get your LBS to bleed them, I did and they’ve been spot on ever since.

    No problems mate. Just get one of these;
    http://www.tamedearth.com/shop/2010-knolly-endorphin-sale/
Chuck some 36s on it et voila. Light enough for UK stuff and plenty burly enough for the alps. Pedals amazingly, stiff as ****.
    67.5deg HA at 160mm.
Call riding high UK first to see if they have any remaining deals though…

A quick run down (I’ve lived in bristol for 30+ years)
Corn street; A cobbled street full of bars (walkabout, wetherspoons etc), most of which open late. Generally quite young and very lively. Also has 2 lap dancing clubs very near by. Can be a bit punchy. No eating here.
Harbouside/waterfront; As above, but with a lloyds, and a terrible nightclub (Oceana). Apart from oceana maybe a bit less punchy. Not really the place to sit down and eat.
Centre; Not as many establishments as it used to have so maybe slim pickings. It features the taxi rank which at the end of the night can get rowdy. Some chain type restaurants.
Lloyds ampitheatre; Less rowdy and a slightly higher class of hooligan but it doesn’t had loads of places. Has a Hooters and some other eating places I think?
Park street/park row Pretty nice, places to eat but won’t be cheap. Mixed ages and some chilled places to drink.
Old market Gay quarter (if you’re into that)
Clifton triangleA higher general class of hooligan again. Late bars and a few places to eat (tapas, eastern). Po na na and the lizard lounge are popular.
Clifton Has some great pubs, restaurants but none/very few open late. Very little chance of trouble but you will have to endure some vert pretentious, snobby ****s.
Stokes croft; Very cool, multicultural and chilled but you do not want to be annoying people around this area (St Pauls frontline close by).

    How tall is he?
There’s a nearly new alpine 160 in the classifieds at a bargain price (18″). If it’s his size, he’d be mad not to.

I really like Canteen but I’m not sure stokes croft is the right place for a stag do……..

Hi Mikey, most lively places do’nt do much in the way of food.
For the stag do scran, maybe hooters? It’s by the Lloyds ampitheatre. Then up park st (stopping or not in the bristol ram and woods), then to po na na on the clifton triagle. There’s really a lot of lively places in bristol so it depends what you are looking for.

English bull terriers (EBTs) are a lot madder (and more overbred). Will eat any object lying around and regularly need their stomach opened. For inspiration check out the art work of Ray Richardson. I have a print of this:

    Oh really?
I’ve had my rescue EBT (cross) for 9 years and he’s not needed his stomach opened once. He’s never chewed a thing in the house that wasn’t given to him. A cracking dog and very loving (on the verge of soppy), loves everyone and everyone loves him. Except cats, he hates cats.

I only have one bike, a 140/150mm FS so I use it for everything.
All the “overbiked” nonsense from peeps with 4+ bikes makes me laugh.

I just get cross when someone gets lucky and draws the conclusion that “this IT business, it’s easy, anyone can do it, money for old rope.”

And rightfully so. I’m happy to admit that I’m not great with puters.
I can’t even get my new apple TV to connect to itunes!

    Ark at her!
All people are trying to do is be helpful. The OP had a problem which some of us have also had and knew how to solve it. I don’t claim to be IT savvy (hence the “biff” comment).
    I detect a bit too much protectionism/defensiveness.

Eset NOD32 would be my recommendation.

I got the same deal as psychle.
Liking my the ones. Came off tech M4s.
I think that I prefered the feel of the M4s but the ones are undoubtably more powerful. With the current deals on formulas; it’s a no-brainer. I’ve also had Avids before but didn’t get on with them.
Definately go out and but some suitable pads though. I killed the stock ones in a (wet welsh) morning!

Dodgy or not, the above works. I now have a nice clean machine.
If it didn’t then I’d have taken it to the shop and paid the moneys. I know that skills don’t come for free but this was a relatively easy fix.

Start in safe mode w/networking. (F8 during boot up I think?)
Search windows for “tool”, the system tool will come up (you’ll recognise the logo). Right click; properties.
Find the location and delete the file (it’s usually a numeric name). Empty recycle bin.
Run super anti spyware and anti malware bytes.
    Gone.

This is quite easily solved. I had it, removed it and am an IT biff.
