+1 on the dont leave valuables/bike unattended, NZ aint crime free.

bike rental from the car park was rubbish i have to say, worn pedals, leaking forks and bald tyres.

other than that, its all fun fun fun

pumps eh… you always love the look and style and weight of the small ones – then curse them when you try and get your roady up to 100psi…

i like the look of the ones that are mini track pumps , larger than normal pumps but when commuting into work for a meeting and BANG…..

    EDIT: lezyne FTW!

@hora, liverpool *MAIN* dealer, although subclassed as Inchape, and although i took it to another Official Merc dealer, they said they could do no work on it, because it had to be part of the Inchape network “for accounts purposes”, unless it was considered an emergency repair . could be bull***t and they just didnt want to touch the car.

interestingly i had to get it serviced in Italy (before the rust appeared) and the Merc dealer there didnt blink an eye lid and did everything they could under the warranty.

    keep away from RUSTY YEARS!!!!

i fell into the rust trap, 2001/2 C230 , and even though i bought from a dealer i got shocking service, first the rear diff broke coming out of the dealer when i picked it up, it had no oil in it despite the 100+ point check, then the exhaust came loose, then the screen wash motor stopped working, then the air con stopped working, and in replacing that, they broke a bit of the dash, but didnt change it, until i told them –
then the rust began to show on the arches and they told me it wasnt within the warranty by x no. of months and please go away now. had to get the arches done myself.

i often wonder these days if i would ever buy from a dealer, and instead not pay the premium and go private and just put some money aside if it goes wrong.

i found i could ride less, and run more and my riding fitness would not suffer. if i did it the other way round, my running got really bad.
put in plenty of off road run hill intervals, easy on the joint, great cardio and run fitness.
dont overdo cramming in the training of the different aspects, reduce the time of doing them, rather than getting to the stage of skipping them due to injury…
    good luck and enjoy!

just come back from 2.5 weeks there.

loved everywhere except Lewis and Stornoway,
although sick for 2 weeks of the holiday, walks in the wildflower meadows were superb and the beaches were great. plenty of history to visit too, and walking on harris.

In the 2nd week though (Harris) the place was heaving with Motorhomes, and they took up the campsites and the wild camping places too. hard to find anywhere without crowds of motorhomes.
most places were full and to be honest was not impressed with the Harris campsites which could not seem to cope.

Barra/Uist/Benbec. were all lovelly and campsites were 12quid for a wee camper with brand new shower/toilet blocks/fridge/kettles…

i’d certainly go back as a cycle tourist but miss out lewis.

quick (stupid) Q, just noticed after looking at stoves on Ebay, you can get OIL ones…. with back boilers…. are these to be connected to an oil tank outside then?

    @sharkbait

we are about to get a new Clearview 500 with a back boiler, we seen them in the flesh and look really tasty. colours are also quite subtle and nice.
looking forward to using them this winter.
have you used coal in them?

    Dear TriAthletes
you dont need 2 full bottles of carbs on the back of the seat and 7 squeezy’s on your frame for your cafe ride of 30mins each way.

IMHO, a mediocre driver in a better car he deserved with flashes of brilliant drives, but mostly mid field battles and hasty badly timed overtakes that usually involve front nose wipeout.

he’ll probably get a job at the bbc or sky.

agree with simons, my hopes have been on my mtb for 6+ years and keep on trucking in all kinds of terrain, and its been dragged around on the back of a car for a few months straight and still are ok.
that doesnt mean i’m disagreeing with other above, quite the opposite, because lets face it, you get what you pay for.
    buy cheap, expect cheap.
you dont expect cheap clothes to last all year use, rain and shine, without problems, why wheels?

so, why did they not let all the other teams but mercedes use current drivers as well at the Young drivers test, then it would have been fair?

    no decision until tomorrow anyway.
if i was a betting man

    1) Mercedes points from races following the tests dismissed
    2) company fined X,XXX,XXX dollars for breach of FIA rules
    3) company on suspended 3 race “yellow” card
    4) Pirelli – no case to answer for, but must clearly submit to the FIA all testing with any F1 team in the future.
    5) Brawn will leave Merc within the next 2 races
and continuing the future path :
    6) lauda takes direct control of merc team
    7) pirelli leave F1 at end of season
    8) next years merc team and engine is a dog
    9) lauda blames time and drives
    10) lewis moves to ferrari, nico moves to RBR
    11) merc team sold at end of 2014
    12) brawn buys merc for 1quid
    13) hires Schumacher and Button
    14) wins 2015 WDC and MDC
    15) i marry kylie minogue

its kind of a semi rural road which has marked lanes, 2 cars can pass ok, anything more requires a bit of savvy. some very long straight sections good visibility at all points.

no other oncoming cars were involved and on a straight section.

for the family the terrible thing was when they first tried to revive him, it did not go at all well, and had to repeat putting him back into a coma!

Merc will get some kind of suspended sentence, there is no way the FIA will ban such a big player/money maker.

Brawn though could be on his way out (pushed out!). although with everything going on at Merc and the Management, i think he was going end of this season anyway.

I used a HTML/CSS dummies guide and found it really helpful, then progressed to using online resources when i could successfully google what i wanted to find, and finally let JQUERY pretty much do everything i wanted. 🙂
