Two things concern me – one, the rewrites for the next film (and beyond) and the every present rumours that Obi Wan is getting his own movie.
This could tie 2 things together…

1. obi wan’s movie set a few years before A new Hope and shows a recent wife/partner – kid involved who also heavy Force user grows up and has Rey then gets killed off, Leia takes Rey on.

2. the rewrites for the main series is because they can also have point 1 above as a new movie (and rake in more cash) and it still fall in line with the EP 9 too, as well as moving away from the obvious plot point that everyone thinks Rey is Lukes daughter — and moving away from plotlines that have been done to death in the original Star Wars series.

interesting fact on interwebby that a concept for TFA that Anakin would return as a force ghosts switching between light and dark , always in turmoil …..

excellent – although perhaps its a bit too low key for the new style Adventure show (its all about ‘no pain no gain’ events now) , hence its own “special” series – weekend warriors can turn it off and go strava a kom instead.

seems Carrie is fighting back against the “backlash” on her twitter account – i aint bothered what she looked like, the fact was she was the most wooden character in the entire film, thats why she stood out,
if she didnt bring anything to the table acting wise, she should have just been left out, han & luke would be enough IMHO
in fact Rey’s fall from grace could have been because either (a) he killed her in a Dark Side tantrum or (b) someone else killed her and his “light side” force abilities/Luke’s intervention didnt save her (little bit like anakin, but done a million times better)

Lets not forget that JJ is probably slight been backed into a corner with this one, lets face it, Disney probably stated the type of characters and age range and violence/topics to be covered & to prop it all up for another 2 movies – we had most of the cast looking below 21 and

and the usual disney’s good ‘v’ bad type of plot

and also he couldnt even touch on anything that were in the prequels – or anything similar plotline wise because thats just too toxic to touch (i.e. the backstory to Ren is actually so similar to Anakin, would we want to see/be reminded of that all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

given all that, i think he did a great job!

So therefore the BBC should have negotiated a contract based on viewing figures, instead of it escalating each year – yet more crap planning on their part – they were convinced i think that Lewis would bring in millions of audiences, but, and as we have stated here, the “younger generation” are just not that interested in F1 or its drivers,
the F1 fan base is made up of casual pub viewers (who can give or take a race viewing) or the ever decreasing die hard F1 fans who love the technicalities of the sport, but are getting ever screwed over by stupid rule changes, boring tracks, and stupid non-testing rules….

so here’s how to do business as the BBC –
take up a massive contract and pay XXX million for it,
a few years in, realise your cannot afford it and instead of thinking of the fans and allowing ITV/C4 to take it all Free To Air, do a secret deal with Sky and Bernie to only show half the races, screw the fans, and pay a bit less on the contract…
then a few years after that, saying you cannot even afford the new contract you did just 24 months ago, sell it out again to the people you didnt want it to go to 24 months ago !

chatter on the webby is after Bernie’s hardball lines with the BBC they turned around and said they would just use R5L commentery over a live stream .

i also see no “podium” for Lewis from the BBC sports personality last night – but then again lewis never had one 🙂

as far as i know, ITV is just picking up the BBC package, no new deal.
I would not be surprised though if they are not tucked away sometimes on ITV2/3/4 if something else “big” is on ITV sat/sun at the same time….

are we not looking here though at a bigger problem for the BBC, it simply cannot compete with the money that can be pumped into News/Sport/Drama/Variety that commercial channels can, and therefore its going to have to either change, or die.

i guess we must also remember, when we first (and i really mean FIRST) saw ANH it was like TFA is now, nothing much explained (i mean where did the Emperor come from, we didnt know or care – Vader was a baddie with a tiny wee line of “he was turned by the emperor” , Moff Tarkin, underused, etc etc) its only because we have had these extra movies and expanded universe do we understand almost all of what occurred and made the star wars universe we know it is now.

agree about Han Solo though, if you take him from the movie, it would have lost a great deal…so lets hope the next one can carry it off without the “smuggler/scoundrel” element 🙂

on reflection, JJ really did brush over the whole 30 years in between ROTJ and now – a few sentences in the opening CRAWL and then Starkiller kills off the entire new Republic/Senate & its army (a throw away line by someone said “…and how do we attack the base without the republic forces”) and suddenly its back to a few resistance fighters lead be Leia and a gang of young guns against the Evil empire – back to Ep 4 we are!

So the new baddie, Snoke – where did he come from – anyone any thoughts?

i think rye’s parents are han and leia – which will setup a great middle and end chapter if you think about it.

although all this is starting to smack of a little bit of copy-cat, something i did feel while watching it, and i hope it doesnt follow too much the “blood lines” that Empire and ROTJ certainly did.

Its a big old galaxy out there, and having everything centered for 7 and possible 8 films now about one family and the force seems a little narrow minded to me.

a bad thought suddenly came to me that perhaps Rye is luke and leia’s offspring – they did have something going before they knew they were related – perhaps thats ok in a galaxy far far away :-/

i think they are setting up another big spoiler for the next film, Rye’s history – i kind of think i have it already to be honest, given the reveals in this film about characters….

AWESOME – a few things felt like a “copy” but lots of other stuff made up for it, felt they played it safe – acting was great though, and the effects top notch, john williams score amazing, welled up at “certain parts” but overall probably 2nd to Empire.

3D was ok, didnt detract too much and was fine.

it seems every event they shown is all about the gruel and the punishment – running / cross country events also now.
although its nice to see that from our POV and understand some of the things that can be done in Scotland, would be nice if they put in more low – key stuff that everyone could enjoy that could still be classed as an “adventure”, the great walks of scotland for example – and those walks by the old beardy guy covered that somewhat.

i’m getting a little bored of the repetitive nature of the same events covered almost every year.

Sky news seemed to have good coverage – a russian interpreter (or a live feed that had one) , plus actual camera’s interviewing the Italian woman had been up in ISS too and decent commentary and questions and a decent panel of experts.

BBC had some doofus trying to make a joke as an expert said they would “jump into the iss from the soyez” and he said “dont you mean float” but the telephone line to the expert was so bad, he didnt hear it and had to repeat it about 3 times . painful. and pretty much all their experts were just on a mobile phone (or string and cup by the sounds of it).
then we had to turn on Cox on the bloke i cannot understand a word he says……

game.co.uk had load of pre-owned ps3 with 12 month warranty, but when i last looked they had got rid of all of them just before christmas (or perhaps taken them off to “force” newer console purchases as christmas gifts) you do see quite a few in high street pawn/trader/independent second hand gaming stores.

the ones on gumtree seem overpriced (at least where i am) £100+ considering a ps4 is getting as low as 249, and you can also pick up official warranted refurb ps4 now, i saw one for 200 quid.

am i right in thinking ps3 games cannot be played on ps4? and you can only download & purchase certain “conversions” of older titles from the PS network ?
