I don’t think they would get a conviction out of a second degree murder, you yourself are having a hard time deciding on it.

He will most probably only be convicted of manslaughter.

Charging a cop is complex and takes time, by forcing the police to charge him quickly I think they will have a worst case.

The cop has been charged with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter. The others are pending investigation whilst all the evidence comes in and time to analyse it.

    The charges seeem appropriate.

How is this getting off light?

I would not buy a console until it has at 1 or 2 years of release. That being said, whilst the 360 was imho the winnner of that gen, PS4 is the winner of this generation. Point is, wait and see what games come out. If you want graphics, buy a pc.

Review article on technology for military purposes:

    https://newatlas.com/laser-weapons-future-warfare/52801/

Absorption of light and distortion of the beam path is one of the big challenges when implementing lasers for military purposes.

At high enough energy densities you get “self-focusing”- I recall this being a problem they had years ago when creating star wars type weapons:

Sales on steam are fairly regular especially those of titles that are slightly older. It’s quite common for “publisher sales” to happen. Yo7 also get the winter and summer steam sales.

Epic games does a couple of free games a month for you to keep.

I have seen 1kg-2kg variation between days(that’s when I used to go to the gym regularly). If you weight yourself do it weekly and after a routine event. Difference in weight could be food and water weight.

I started watching a channel about firearms. The presenters are two friendly and knowledgeable “turbonerds” who approach this topic in an almost academic way, the channel is called “Forgotten Weapons” and “In range tv”.

Lectures can easily be carried out online, especially first year one. Recorded lectures are a much better way of learning due to the simple fact that you can pause them. The lecturer-student interaction happens in tutorials that and assesment will be the issue. Labs can always be deferred to the next year.

    @sanny

Interestingly, Glasgow and St. Andrews already have some modules available for distance learning, however I agree with your assesment.

Those portobello pics look like your typical weekend or day of nice weather. In that situation I can’t see how you can keep social distancing with how small it is.

500gb/1tb ssd for gaming should be more than enough unless you are installing multiple AAA games. Adding more SSD memory is very easy to do in the future.

Just to add about future proofing, I’m playing on a i5-7600(not overclockablr version) and a 1070 at 1440p with solid 60fps on most games-other than ubisofta shitshow games. The only game that has made me consider upgrading my pc is m&B bannerlord, which is a cpu hog.

The days of a pc being outdated within 2 years or less are long over.

Potential parts to upgrade could be storage or quieter fans or rgb lighting all which are safe and easy to do but require some level of commitment, perfect for a kid.

One thread for government policy decisions and another for science/informative is more than doable.

All the political circlejerk is getting tiring.

Especially since we have a variety of people posting relevant scientific material and explaining it, and they are doing it for free (can’t thank you enough).

Is it possible that we keep this thread on the informative/ scientific side?

I think it will be delayed by another 6 months to a year. Otherwise it might be too much of a shock to businesses.

Nobody will blame them either for delaying it.

Completely agree with the move of trying to restrict travel between areas. Have we all forgotten just before lockdown how rammed the natural parks were? Seeing a bit of green is very easy in the UK , no need to go to places with infrastructure that wouldn’t be able to handle a crisis.

That budget should be fine, unless parts have skyrocketed recently. At 1080 it should run everything nicely bar some Ubisoft games, but that’s just Ubisoft dropping the ball on their titles.

Pc part picker should have a bunch of builds.

In Spain if you get mouthy they will detain you, they will waste your time(and possibly fine you) and take your ID number and they don’t have the numbers problem they have in the UK. However if you are polite and look above 25 you’ll be treated well.

The weather in April tends to surprisingly good in the UK, in many cases better than the Mediterranean coast, which tends to be rainy season.

I would not want more restrictions, since again this will come in the form of taxes which would only raise inequality imho.

However, I don’t think when this is over we are going back to the same situation.

Isolation length depends on if you’ve had it, or someone in your household has had it (or had symptoms) as per your link. Therefore, you don’t need 2 weeks of food as the person who had symptoms first should be able to go out after 7 days as long as they don’t have a temperature.

This in my opinion a risky move, to ensure keyworkers get back to work asap. Covid has an unpredictable nastiness to it.

The reason there is a food crisis is because lots of people have suddenly stockpiled stuff just as you are suggesting.

The posts from other people above suggest there is not a food availability crisis. The food crisis is the one that may come as suggested by STWs official information outlet: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/20/farmers-call-for-land-army-to-sustain-uk-food-production-during-coronavirus-crisis
Another interesting take on the food situation: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2020/apr/03/off-our-trolleys-what-stockpiling-in-the-coronavirus-crisis-reveals-about-us

That has caused the system to break down and has left the old and vulnerable in a really poor position as they are struggling to get food. If you (or someone in your immediate household) are not over 70 or in the extremely vulnerable category then you should be using the shops (not daily obviously, but say about weekly) rather than using vital and overloaded delivery services and stockpiling items that those in a less fortunate position cannot now get.

The old and vulnerable were told to isolate before the food panic. Other than that I completely agree, if you are not in a vulnerable position, do not use the delivery service. I also agree with your point, shopping should be done weekly and not daily, to avoid more spreading.

My assumption is that me or my partner(healthcare) will probably get Covid, therefore I have two opotions, first I buy enough food for two weeks-since I consider the governments approach risky, or second I risk not having enough food during self-isolation and depend on the food delivery system. Seeing that the food delivery service is overwhelmed to a far greater extent than stocking of food, I chose the first.

I am not trying to mitigate a global food industry crisis, since in that scenario we are truly doomed. I am trying to mitigate the unfortunate shortcomings of food delivery services.

According to government website you need to self isolate for two weeks if you have it or your family member has it https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-advice/.

We also know food deliveries are completely clogged up.

With these two facts in mind, why you wouldn’t have a two weeks supply of food to cover the time you are self-isolating is beyond me.

I’ve never had a doubt in the system being able to generate food for everyone, its the delivering it to you house that I knew would also be the issue.

In Spain the central government has mismanaged and reacted late every step of the way; if they had any self-respect they would resign and abandon public life after this crisis.

Right now everyone that has to come to work should be given a temporary high risk pay bonus. Especially if it’s public facing. Governments across the eu are making sure with their wording that this is very hard to negotiate.

Buying to have 2-3 weeks of good healthy food as a reserve is not panic buying. Just build your reserve gradually.

The Chinese numbers not making sense and the west not being proactive enough are not mutually exclusive.

If this were a criticism of the the US government and their shenanigans nobody would bat an eyelid, has China become the new Israel-if you criticise you must be a racist?

I see criticisms of BoJo because he is right wing, the Spanish government is as left wing as it’s ever been, in an already centre-left country and they also got it very wrong. In fact our deputy Pm(Pablo Iglesias) is skipping quarantine even though his wife has tested positive.

Wuhan is a city with 11 million people. It took them a while to identify that the pneumonia’s were not pneumonia.

Look at its population density in this picture(2015)

Spain went to lockdown too late, the women’s march across the whole country put us in this situation, where the government was too scared to cancel it, against the advice of the eu.

Then people from the Madrid, the epicentre of the virus started going to their seaside homes, spreading it even further. The country needed Madrid to be on lockdown, but once again the president was incompetent.
