Aye, Nearcliffe woods and Steatley are ok… but it’s about the long and short of what you get in Donny.
It being right next to Connisborough is a proper turn off for me, and I’m a Balby lad! (though I’m in Sheffield now)

Oh and while I doubt you’ll need the warning, avoid the town centre on a night. It’s an experience!

What if the rain isn’t coming vertically down?

Same thing you do with an umbrella when the rain isn’t dropping vertically.
You point it opposite do the direction of the falling rain. And your legs get wet regardless.

I was convinced it was the same one so we put nail polish in it’s leg.
So unless there are a lot of fashion conscious mice out there…

You started a trend… others followed.

Meehaja, if you’re using chrome you need to fullscreen to see it. On the RHS about 2/3rds down the page. Commence lulz

Aye they’re cheap, nasty brakes. I had a set go like that and ended up binning them.

They could possibly have been saved. But the brakes themselves being crap, and the terrible bleeding system Hayes use ended it for me. +1 new brake time

Roubaix bib tights under baggy shorts for me too. I can’t bear the thought of exposing Sheffield to my laycra’d up arse…

Oh and I’ve read enough stories here of lycra offs resulting in a less than secure set of family jewels, I’d rather rip my shorts a little bit!

Xbox720 & PS4 later this year, no physical drives on them.

I seriously doubt that for at least the 720/4 generation (PS4 is confirmed to have optical drives). They’ll be waiting to see how things like Ouya and the Steam Box (piston) pan out before they’ll go for it.

Saying that, I do think it’s the future. Though it’ll be interesting to see how both Sony and Microsoft handle owning digital distribution monopolies. I expect it’ll hit us hard in the pockets for day 1 releases.

Back to HMV; I’m going to miss them… The wife works there and I REALLY liked getting 30% off new games! She’s heartbroken that she’s got to find another job, when this one fit her lifestyle so well.

HMV have pretty much brought this on themselves…

Aye it’s been pissing it down in Sheffield since lunchtime and is all melted down now.

I managed to stay upright getting out to the street from my back door this morning, thought better of it and called a workmate for a lift instead.
That smooth ice had thinly coated EVERYTHING!

I’ve got a set as my backups. Pretty good for the price! Better sealed than those knogs I reckon too.

Aye, the bike never leaves my side when I’m lacking the lock.

I used to be known at the local chippy as “that bloke who brings his bike in”

I can manage to get a “dead shift” out of my tiagras if I flick both levers together in the right way, you sure you’re not catching the down and the up simultaniously?

Yup, I’ve managed to do this a few times before on my 105 shifters. The up then pulls all the way round!

Meh, I slipped on some wet tram tracks in Sheffield a while ago, proper rapid wash out. Buggered my knee, needed new bar tape and a fair few scuffs to levers, my knuckles and QR levers.

Did I sue them? Did I chuff! It was my own damn fault for playing silly buggers and not paying attention. I’ve not done again, and I’ve managed to keep upright since. It’s not exactly difficult… Some people need to get over the need to externalise blame.

I honestly clicked on this thread expecting a dadsnet-esque rant about the obsession of small kids jumping in every bloody puddle they can find following on from watching too much peppa pig… thank **** I was wrong

Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying yourself, Oooft I need to go out on a muddy blast through the woods now!

Oh, so you’re using IE? You deserve everything you get then :P

(btw disabling the adware should be done in a very similar way to chrome: tools > manage add-ons and disable the offending article)

If you’re running chrome, it’s an adware plugin that you should be able to disable by going to:
    spanner > tools> extensions

find the blighter and delete. i had to do something similar a while back :/

Superstar. Great hubs and pretty quiet.

You’ve not used the Superleggera hubs then… slightly quieter than Hope, but significantly more “Buzz” than “Click”

Hmm, you guys have got me thinking now… I would very much like to make my own bacon!

It looks like a key ingredient is saltpetre… Where the chuff do I buy that without looking like a terrorist?!

A little birdie told me that it is an ideal ingredient in chocolate cheesecake.

I have been known to stick a thimble full of smokey whiskey (ardbeg at the moment) in when making chilli or homemade bbq sauce. That and smoked paprika whacks the smokeyness right up!

Funnily enough I am in a very similar situation to Catflees! I’ve got to the point of trying to decide on the type of survey I want doing on the property (basic valuation, homebuyers report or buildings survey).

Considering the house I’m buying is a turn of the century mid-terrace that had an extension and heavy renovation around 2 years ago, and nothing is noticeably wrong externally, what survey should I go for?

Sorry for the slight hijack, I assume you’ll be in the same boat very soon Catflees!

Duplo/mega blocks every time. I’ve bought them for my 3yr old nephew and he bloody loves them! My sister hasn’t really forgiven me for it though… they do end up strewn everywhere.

If it helps at all, I bought a TCR composite 2 as a first road bike over a month ago. It is a bloody dream to ride! It took a little getting used to, but I’m already putting in big rides in the peaks and planning longer and longer routes.
The only things changed have been the stock brake pads, which were scarily bad, and the bar tape following an off on some tram tracks :?

As a side note, why the hell do manufacturers put white bar tape on bikes? Beige after two rides I tell thee…
