WTF is next? suing the council for putting nasty hard tarmac on the roads because it hurts when you fall on it??

if these morons can’t see and avoid i gigantic metal groove in the road maye they don’t have mental capacity to ride a bike at all, put them in nice padded buses.

you’ll soon find out that this forum is mostly a bunch of Audi boys talking about Ipads and whatever the latest stupid gimmick bike is so they can drive to the country club with one on the A6’s roof.

back in july i got hit off my blur 3 times in about 15 minutes.

    1. woman in a focus cliped me and my bars with her mirror.
    2. as i was at the side of the road checking the bike over and the lady was writing down her details in case anything on my bike was broke an elderly guy crashed into it (the cock actually stopped and insisted i pay for a new mirror for his car!! i politely explained how many bones in his face i was about to break and he changed his mind)
    3. another woman in a focus drove into my back wheel as i was heading back home with a bent peddle, i had a full 5 or so seconds of eye contact with her as i was passing the junction and the idiot still managed to drive into the side of me .

nearly all the problems with reverbs and avid brakes come from poor bleeding.
just take the time to do it properly and both are bulletproof.

just change your talas forks to floats, its just a case of pullng the talas spring out and popping a float spring in. the parts cost around £80 and it takes about half an hour .

there’s a premiere inn just up the road, you may be able to get the £29 deal if you book early.

don’t forget to add £250 to the price of the kona for a reverb, the kronolog makes the joplin look like the pinnacle of reliability.
i only know 3 people who have them and so far they have a 100% failure rate.

unless there are 3 people in the vehicle its cheaper to fly.
hotels can be got for around £25 pppn
lift pass in 2012 was 101 euros for 9 days not sure on day rate
    AM bike around 60-70 euros/day DH bike anything from 70 – 130 .
beer around the 5 euro mark .(but cheap as chips in the supermarket .

there is a lot to be said for a quality charger. can make a difference to the run time, service life and combustibility of cells.
sure iv’e got an old charger in the shed somewhere may mod it to fit my light batteries seeing as the RC cars are one now .

to be honest that climb could do with some time off, ive been riding it regularly for 6 years or so and its eroded badly.
the wall trail really benefited from a year or so of logging, lets hope whites level does too .

    @northwind

by handmade i mean bent, welded and painted from a sheet of aluminium by blokes in overalls using hand tools .

    @muckytree

that may be because they are so easy to keep looking like new, i hammered mine for 4 years, 5 minutes with a bog brush and some warm water and it looked like new. the blur LTc i replaced it with is already looking older than the five it replaced after just a year.

i don’t get why people hate on the poor five so much, i’ve owned one and its a fantastic bike, i even think its good looking .

If you prefer some hydroformed monstrosity with more anacronyms than actual engineering that’s your choice, considering their properly hand made (not shipped in from Taiwan with a “handmade” sticker on them like some bigger companies) their very reasonably priced too .

i’ll pick up a 29er in about 18 months when all the people who claim they are savior of mountainbiking have put them on ebay to buy 650b bikes because bikeradar have been paid to deem 27.5 the new holy grail .

I too was considering getting a cheapish 29er (canyon nerve al 29)
then i did the oktoberfest and witnessed pro/semipro riders trying to muscle and heave them through the twisty sections.
i lost count of the times some whippet would pass me on a climb on his big wheeler only to be amazed how comically slow they were through the twisty downhill sections.
i’ll stick with my unfashionable blur LTc for the time being i think .

what is the appeal of a tablet anyway?

its either a large clumsy smart phone .
or a very low spec, limited, laptop .

and it costs twice as much as either without any benefits .

anyone remember when trek released a few 69’er bikes a few years ago without all the marketing ? they bombed big time .
move on a few years and add millions in advertising and bought off magazine reviews and suddenly they’re the 2 wheeled second coming .

aggressive riders tend to hate them ,mountain roadies and beardy types seem to love them and the audi set buy them because the internet said their what the cool kids ride .

40% more inertia and 37% less stiffness for a given wheel weight does not turn a bike into a 2 wheeled miracle no matter what bikeradar says .

I run the HD front NN rear compound and find it a superb mix ,the NN are crappy on the front but excellent onn the rear and the HD gives grip of biblical proportions even in wet welsh forests .
The HD is a very large 2.35 too its closer to most 2.5’s .

hope you get a good one .

I got 3 bad ones :( ,brilliant bike but mine were made of glass.

    2 cracked 1 seat tube 1 downtube .

1 rear triangle snapped clean at the dropout ,commencal refused to replace the rear triangle claiming it was crash damage , have you ever tried staying on a bike when your back wheels is flapping about .

    b45her

for a given wheel weight a 29 inch wheel has around 40% more inertia than a 26’er ,and if the wheel is built with simular spec components it will be 37% less stiff . not my words the words of probably the biggers bicycle wheel maker in the world .

some people love 29’ers i happen to think they are a solution looking for a problem .

    b45her

it all boils down to how you ride .

if you see roots and rocks on the trail as something to use as a jump or a berm stick with a 26er

if you see them as objects of fear and try to avoid them/just roll over them try a 29er .

29ers simply arent as good as a 26er if your aggressive on a bike .

if your using 26″ fox forks check that the tyres clear the fork crown at full compression , the brace of the lowers may clear but the crown can stop the front wheel dead in a g-out / hard landing .
