nah, boring as shit steel hardtail 29ers are where its at now for the lifestyle mountain bikers, oranges are too mainstream.

i can see trek’s marketing. . . i mean R&D department fapping all over this thread and thinking of anacronyms for all these silly idea’s.

as mentioned earlier it could just be a vibe you give off to tradesmen, i’m self employed and now and again i will go and price a job and know i don’t want anything to do with that customer.
there are some people you know are going to be trouble no matter how good a job is done.

i’m not saying you fir into this category but its a possibility.

i was half expecting this to be a thread demanding money back or a new frame because the headset needed replacing on a 2 year old bike.

personally i think south wales needs more trails built, we are always overlooked when it comes to mountain biking. . .

for £1500ish i’d get on the ribble bike builder and spec the components i want.

this thread is chock full of self important cocks that think the world should revolve around them.

religious fundamentalists regardless of denomination are mentally ill, put them in a big padded warehouse somewhere so they can have conversations with their imaginary friends without embarrassing themselves.

is it really worth the effort when these are less than £70 ?

this is the one i had on my BLTc but nearly all single ring BB mount devices should be fine.
the chain device problems on the blur’s occur when you want to use a 2×10 chain device like the e thirteen TRS+ they hit the chainstay because the bottom link is so low.

with regards to the above post, every new bike should be checked over thoroughly before you ride it regardless of where its from.
i read a post somewhere where a guy was slating canyon because a shock bolt fell out a few months after he had the bike, do these muppets have any idea of maintenance?

i must be awesome then because i regularly fly past these highly skilled hardtail riders as their wobbling down trails, do i get extra bonus hero points for doing it all while using my less skillful SPD peddles too?

well the guy specifically asked for advice on a £2000 ish full suspension bike and in typical STW fashion gets the usual buy a hardtail cos it gives you skillz bullplop.

why can’t people on here answer a simple question?

thx1138 120-140 is the sweet spot for an all round bike, i personally ride a 160mm travel canyon strive for everything and have no problems, a lot of this forum is very partial to just regurgitating the crap that magazines pump out.
the only reason i would ever buy a hardtail is if i didn’t have the funds to get a decent full suss.
there are far better places to ask advice about mountain bikes than here this is more a lifestyle forum for born again cyclists to discuss the next silly niche bike that has been deemed cool.

if i was buying from evans alone i’d go for one out of these few.

the BMC in particular is very, very good value.

THX1138 go and ask the same question on pinkbike.com you might actually get some decent advice and not just a bunch of beardies harping on about steel hardtails and 29ers. this is the last place you should look for mountain bike advice unless your idea of a mountain bike is a rigid abomination with fat tyres and wacky shaped handlebars.

coil springs are linear, preload only alters the sag it does nothing to the force needed to compress the spring.

sooooo much brand bigotry on this forum, write chris king on superstars components and they would be praising them to high heaven.

those knollies have an awful lot going on for what is essentially a plain old 4 bar rear end. out of the 3 i’d go for a five, murican bikes tend not to fare well in UK conditions in my experience.

be careful, if rockshox are the same as fox they can go from air to coil but not the other way around, something to do with the spring damaging the surface’s of the lowers and preventing a good seal for the air spring.

i’d say its a very strong possibility due to the rather dubious placement of the meta’s shock.

still baffles me why people say 26″ wheels are dying, i know 1 person who owns a 29er and hes a hair under 6’10” tall, everyone i know who has recently bought a bike has bought a 26er and a few people i know who are soon to buy new bikes are not interested in 29ers at all.

as for 650b I’ve never seen a wheel in the flesh never mind a full bike, i’m not sure they even exist outside of the MTBR website.

just use what you have, any tires grip well in snow and no tyres grip at all on ice.

both the things you mention are perfectly normal, both my reverbs 1 standard and 1 stealth have been sensitive to clamp pressure but have never moved in the seat tube.
they both had a top out clunk too.

everything i’ve had off superstar including the bars and stem you mention have been excellent quality, the majority of people that slag them off are just brand bigots.

interesting to see that most of the 29ers people are buying are xc, hardtails and rigid bikes whereas the 26ers are more towards the trail/AM side of things.

raw bikes are the dogs balls, no paintwork to worry about, a quick clean and they look good as new.

bought a 2013 canyon strive, tried a few 29ers but they just weren’t me, too ponderous and clumsy.
