surely a belief is an individual thing and thus necessarily limited to a single lifespan ?
not necessarily certainly in olden times beliefs would have been handed down through the generations
in the seventies while serving in the forces we had ration packs dated from the fifties i wouldn't worry too much about any out of date tins or dried food
go for a slipper type that pops on and off easily, that way when you are on belay you can slip your feet out. get a basic pair to start with and wear them out before you get some more technical shoes
i had a couple of these basically they drill a couple of holes in your leg and shove a wee camera in and prod it around and one drain hole ,after three days i was back at work on light duty. if you get done first thing you get out at teatime but if you are late afternoon normally they kept you in till you stop being sick

if you want a good lightweight tent have a look at "Big Agnes " i have tried a few and found them excellent one piece poles all linked in and bombproof so far, try the seedhouse two sl says three season but combined with a Rab sleeping bag and a silk liner i have used one all through winter both here and abroad
for rucsacs i would second the lowe alpine stuff
i've done rosyth -zeebrugge ,santander- plymouth ,dover- calais,quite a lot and i always take a long cable lock with me , that a few bungees and it is all good but remove any thing that is pocketable
i have used Rab stuff for years used to get a new one every year till i realised half my family and friends were wearing my old ones and were all still in great nick.

i have no anterior cruciate ligaments in either leg and haven't had for years but i have been riding my bike ever since not much good for fast lol but i get around , i was offered a goretex replacement but after five knee ops and declined on the basis that they had already made one failed attempt which set me back six months. however that was in 1988 and advances have been made since then i did have an op called ellisons procedure which left me with a massive scar on my leg for no improvement . saying all that last year i rode from edinburgh to Gibraltar over the pyrennees with no real problems except being a fat biffer hth
i spent 17 years in our forces and was pretty much an absentee father for most of their growing up but in the main i have a great relationship with my kids now . it isn't being apart that is the problem it is what you do when you are with them that matters

candle wax along the saw blade will stop it sticking and help it slide through the wood use brass or stainless steel screws ,if you lay it on the ground it will rot tannalised or not buy a length of four by four and use that to make posts to hang the framing on
