i was a cycle courier in edinburgh for about four months and really enjoyed it for that short period, made a reasonable wage not great but certainly enough to live on but it was then all pretty much cash in hand. main source of work was the legal profession collecting and delivering documents and for ad agencies taking stuff to printers etc but not sure that need hasn’t been replaced by email

personally speaking “yes ” the pay is reasonable the expenses are great and it is mainly fun. listening to the public whining all day is the downside

mmm male cabin crew rarely get into the cart tarts panties they only drop for pilots and high profile passengers, i worked for jersey european and janes as an air loadmaster now sadly a thing of the best . one of the best jobs i ever had but the prospects aren’t that great until you stop flying and get a ground based job

i use different pedals on different bikes, last year i cycled to Gibraltar from here with a set of CB eggbeaters cos they were the best fit with my sidi shoes after 5300 kms they were (and still are) going fine . i was advised to use something (anything ) else due to concerns about their longevity . however i took a service kit with me and never used it i will be switching to eggbeaters on most of my bikes the only one that won’t get a set is my sunday road bike

i was cycling up the lanark road and got pelted with bananas by a bunch of squaddies in a three tonner they weren’t too happy when they were introduced to their new lycra clad clubswinger though
    eh ?
are you saying you battered them, or offered them a gang-bang ?

the need for specialisation is what is killing some bike shops and conversely letting others flourish. in Edinburgh we have quite a few bike shops and among the best are the bike chain and the tri shop but if i want something fixed and it isn’t a warranty type thing i use the” bike works” they don’t sell bikes they just fix them and usually make a damn fine job of it, the prices (imnsho) are damn reasonable. they have lent me tools and ordered stuff for me ok sometimes i have to wait and yes they aren’t as cheap as crc but when i break things (and i do ) they fix it promptly. in the last few years i have spent a ridiculous amount of money in edinburgh bike shops and hope to continue doing so for the forseeable future

great for a whizz round on the road bike, on a thursday night there should be some good fiddling in lerwick if you like a bit of traditional music with some good ales, for some reason there are lots and lots of spare women up there

i had an AKTO and sold it as i found it just too short and i'm a short@rse, i have a nallo two which i must admit is a cracking tent but really quite expensive now on the plus side the hillebergs pitch outer first but i just bought a freestanding tent( the big agnes string ridge two) because on my last major tour it was sometimes difficult to pitch the nallo properly
