Caher, I’d probably get done for child neglect

Wiggles, how much do you reckon I should charge?

Squirrelking, that sounds like something I could have a go at. It would be easier to store too.

I’ve got my Nan’s old singer sewing machine from 1947! It’s the one I prefer to use but I’ve also got one that does all the fancy stuff, I can’t even thread the thing

Scruff9252, I find that quite appealing for when I get the odd weekend to myself

Myti, I’ve got a ps4 but I’m finding it boring playing alone

Countzero, thanks for the that. It’s a lot more reasonable than I expected. What wood would you recommend to start with?

I love sitting on the sofa getting wasted, but it’s much more fun with company

Have you a confession to make CaptainFlasheart?

The short scale electric guitars might be an option, I’ve got wee hands and struggle with normal size ones. I’m not intending on taking it beyond the sofa though.

I’ll have a wee look duolingo, I could do with brushing up on my languages too.

I like the idea of doing something practical like sewing. I’m quite arty but would prefer to make something I can utilise, they’re great ideas.

I whittled an owl when I was a kid, I found it quite therapeutic and was curious to see what shape the wood would take. I work in forestry and I’m quite interested in the properties of each species, which do you prefer?

I’ve tried astral projection, I ran into some druids

Learning an instrument would be cool, I quite fancy the double bass or the clarsach

Esme I do sew. I’m ok at hand sewing and mend tears and make minor adjustments but I’ve not made anything with the sewing machine for a while. Making sacks would be a good place to start, I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks

Esme, I’m sure they won’t dissapoint

Jon1973, I was thinking about that. Is there a knife you’d recommend?

How would you describe your friends? Perhaps individual, intelligent, sensitive, independent or talented.

How would you describe autistic people? People are likely to say they are different, gifted, weird, awkward or special.

The DSM-5, which is used to define symptoms and diagnose diseases uses the following words to describe autism:-

    Deficit x 9

    Impairment x 8

    Abnormal x 4

    Difficulties x 3

    Unusual x 3

    Failure x 2

    Poorly integrated x 1

    Lack x 1

    Absence x 1

    Disturbance x 1

The language we use matters, it influences how others receive us and how we perceive ourselves. The words often chosen to describe autistic people are divisory and derogatory, which is a reflection on how we are viewed by friends, family and colleagues. These influences are also displayed in how autistic people are treated differently, whilst perhaps stemming from good intentions can be massively detrimental to the individual

I wouldn’t be surprised if many incidents weren’t recorded in the first place, ask each time that they are. If you can then request the same officers, and make sure you have a paper trail. My complaint came under hate crime and is supposed to be urgent but it could take days for a response. The person threatening and intimidating me knew that the police weren’t taking it seriously and stepped up their attacks, it was only then that the police took action.

The person still lives in the village and I do have to watch my back

I can totally sympathise, I’ve been there recently. You probably already do this but keep a diary of your encounters with the guy, also of any incidents to you or your property. The police are very blasé about this sort of harassment but consistently report each incident, no matter how trivial it may seem as it helps them to build a picture. I eventually got an injunction placed on the person who was harassing us.

With regards to your housing if you want to move you could try a  mutual home swap, it’s normally arranged by the tenants through a website and you change your names on the respective tenancy agreements. If you’re eligible for housing you can swap between housing agencies and council housing and across counties. Another option is to complain to your council’s community/environmental wardens and he may be issued with an ASBO, if he’s also a social housing tenant then you could also complain to his housing provider. I hope you get it sorted soon

“British Cycling got in touch specifically to ask us to run this press release, because it thinks you, Singletrack readers, can help it improve the breadth of representation on their MTB commissions.”…

… “This follows the launch of the organisation’s new #OneInAMillion campaign earlier this year which aims to get one million more women on bikes by 2020 and increase representation of women in cycling at all levels; whether it’s commuting, competing, coaching or on a commission.”

So we’re looking for fit, good looking guys showing off enough muscle to get us all wanting to go for a ride? Cool

One question I’ve always asked myself is what is it I do that’s different to others?

I guess this research partially addresses why gp’s are reluctant to treat autistic people with depression without 24hr supervision

In autism, depression takes on unusual forms

I’d remove more laws than add to them, there’s too many people locked up for petty crap caused by poverty. I agree with a lot of what Bigblaackheinoustoe said, apart from banning chewing gum and subsidising farmers so that they can sell milk cheaply to tesco who cream the profit.

£200 is a week’s earnings for me, I earn just shy of the “living wage” and I work full time. It sounds like the best man is being quite inconsiderate and has made it awkward for everyone. It sounds fair that people pay for the nights they are staying, and if there’s a shortfall then those who can afford it contribute with the guy who booked it covering the rest.

It seems barmy to have such an exclusive stag do in contrast with an inclusive wedding.

When I was in a similar position for a hen do, I didn’t go as I wouldn’t have been able to afford any of the activities as well.

It sounds like your wife could do with more support if she’s that tired and exhausted and that you could do with a break from the stress. Is it a sign of depression or anxiety? If you haven’t already it might be worth asking her and seeking therapy. Can you do more around the house or to participate in any childcare? Is she working and can she request flexible hours so that she can start later or finish earlier? Or could you so that you can give more support? Could any kids go to a playgroup or club so that she can have a nap?

There’s a lot of pressure to be seen to be busy and productive, you’ve got to do more than the Jones’s to be recognised as equal but sometimes you’ve just got to say **** it and look after yourselves

Mindfulness is something I’ve been aware of since I was a child, although it’s only been in the past decade I’ve been able to put a name to it. On and off I’ve attended the Quakers (yes, founded by the families who make oats, chocolate and sweets) since I was wee and it was there that I learned of meditation and mindfulness through their meetings and shared values and beliefs*, which are very similar to those of Buddhism. <span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”> </span>

Keep with it, and enjoy the journey

*God isn’t one of them with almost 70% of quakers being agnostic or atheists

I wonder what happens to all the retired race horses too.

National Hunt discipline has a different approach to the training and management of horses than flat racing and a lot of the horses go on to be a “nanny” to the youngsters, pleasure horses or to do a different discipline such as dressage. There are also charities like Racehorse Rescue and HAPPA who rehabilitate or foster horses with health or handling issues

That’s a very spiritual question for a dreich Sunday morning. It’s a question that’s popped into my head a few times, especially when experiencing some sort of grief.

The Dhammapada and The Teaching of Buddha, like all scriptures, is a collection of fables as a way of explanation as to the reasons why things are.

“My deciples, my last moment has come, but do not forget that death is only the vanishing of the physical body. The body was born from parents and was nourished by food; just as inevitable are sickness and death.

But the true Buddha is not a human body :- it is Enlightenment. A human body must vanish, but the Wisdom of Enlightenment will exist forever in the truth”

Not bad for a 4BC scientific description. My interpretation is that energy is always converting and that your soul lives on in the memories of others, therefore you’re more likely to be remembered either because you were extremely kind or an absolute jerk

Ex jockey here, don’t shoot me (but feel free to take a pop, lol) The equestrian industry is very controversial whether it’s for business, recreation or sport someone is gaining financial rewards at their expense, and it tends not to be the owners and riders who gain pleasure from spending time with these amazing animals.

The basic question is whether we should be utilising animals at all, in doing so we immediately put constraints on their freedom. But. Would they have that freedom at all if we didn’t? Would their carcasses instead line our floors with heads hanging on stately walls? Unless we can eat or use them they soon face extinction.

The majority of equine owners and carers absolutely dote on their charges providing the very best care they financially can’t afford, including racehorse owners and trainers. I’ve known people who’ve made enormous sacrifices for the welfare of their horses, but of course there are those who view them as a commodity.

Do you have one of those victorian/yoghurt pot collars? It won’t stop the cause but it would prevent him from being able to scratch them whilst you find out what it is. If it’s not ear mites he may have picked up harvest mites which are like wee orange dots that gather on the ears and chin or a fungal infection. What type of coat does he have? Could it be grasses, pollens or horticultural/agricultural sprays which are irritating due to the shorter hairs on the ears? The vets are the only ones that can give a definitive diagnosis
