    What a beautiful weekend it’s been, I’ve got the windows open and I can hear neighbours sitting outside drinking with friends. I can hear one voice seamlessly pick up where the other left off, interrupted only by giggles. It seems so effortless.

    I was wondering if others find it easy to make and retain friendships, or if like me you find it impossible?

    Even I understood @jedi’s video! 😀 I’m a newbie with an equestrian background so I assumed that you’d put the ball of your foot over the axle but I’ve been playing about with it for a few weeks and what a difference it’s made. I can wheelie for longer, less cramps on the climbs and it’s completely repositioned me on the descent, giving me great stability and security. Moar importantly I’ve been consistently beating my strava pr’s, whilst feeling like I’ve just been cruising. It’s amazing how one small adjustment can make such a difference.

    Cheers jedi for excellently explaining the what’s, the how’s and the why’s. I find it difficult to watch “How to video’s” as I’m autistic (see the “proper interview” thread for an idea of what goes on in an Aspie’s head) but you clearly and concisely answered each question that I’d have asked and would normally have me labelled as nippy as 😂

    They know exactly what they’re saying but just don’t give a ****! They delight in swearing in English and other languages (show-offs) and you’ll see it in advertising, hear it on the radio and even politicians will use it to emphasise a point. When I worked there it was perfectly acceptable to tell the boss to **** off, just don’t call him a klootzac.

    To be fair hearing the word in a country where you can have a **** at the window or hear the hoes on a hot day, seeing or hearing the word is nothing. I love their social liberal attitude though, if you don’t like it don’t look or say so and if you do then bring the beer

    Why are regular individuals bearing the cost of recycling and ethically living, when manufactures continue to produce increasing amounts of plastics and toxic chemicals?

    I work in forestry and we are seen to be part of the solution, yet we wrap millions of trees in plastic weevil nets each year. The company I work with is involved in developing an alternative which is non toxic and biodegradable, unfortunately we haven’t discovered one which is cheaper than plastic. Why isn’t more invested in research and subsidising environmentally friendly solutions than recycling the problem?

    Having heard how awesome e-bikes are from people who own them it’s good to hear a balanced perspective. I’ve been thinking about whether to get a decent hardtail or an ebike

    There’s proof to support your thoughts OP, domestic abuse increases depending on how badly the supported team does. During the World Cup domestic abuse rates rose by 38% if England lost.

    (Nee) Naw @scruff that’s not clever. Did you think you’d got away with that? I like skating and was enjoying the thread, I wasn’t going to say anything but to use it as a platform for bigotry, and then being smug about it ain’t cool. Mongo is a skating term but mong means someone with learning disabilities or is stupid, ie me, I prefer goofy.

    Disability is one of the 9 protected characteristics in the Equality Act and British Cycling has chosen STW to launch its diversity campaign. I’m not offended, you clearly didn’t mean me and freedom of speech ‘n’ all that but as someone who is singled out every day as being different it’s nippy

    @lapdog That’s a style I’ve not tried, I do like drawing, but my house gets clogged with paper so I tend to only do it for others. I might pick up the pencils and pens again

    I totally agree with IHN but I’d add that we’re on the verge of economic and societal collapse too. It makes no difference which political party you vote for they’re all funded by warmongers and leeches (except the Greens)

    In the last 50yrs alone we’ve killed 60% of all wild animals globally and there’s been a massive insect population collapse in the UK over the past 30yrs. We may have a chance of extending the effects for a couple of years but nothing we do now is going to have an impact. I’m sure the cock roaches will do a better job

    @Nico. I’ve not heard of Scrimshaw before, I was a bit wary of googling it but it looks quite intriguing. Thanks for the heads up

    @Binners
    I do online scrabble and cards. Bringing enlightenment has been my life’s work, but it’s a tough gig for an autistic messiah and I lost my last follower on Thursday. Maybe, I could combine it with @dezb and @centralscrutinzer’s idea and…

    @mrmonkfinger
    , lego is a sore point (especially if you stand on it)

    @stumpy01
    , they’re a lot more affordable than I expected. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have a look to get some ideas.

    @harry_the_spider
    , I just saw your airfix post. It a shame they just do military stuff, I’m a pacifist.

    @chvck, that’s not something I’d considered. I used to build my own pc’s and write basic programming. I’m quite curious.

    @CraigW
    , I used to have an SLR but stopped when photography went digital. It’s certainly something I’d give a go if I got a camera and an editing suit, is there anything you’d recommend for a beginners set up?

    @ebygomm, crocheting looks quite a skill! I like how you don’t need many tools, especially ones you can injure yourself on. I kinda stopped wool based crafts after impaling myself on a knitting needle but I think crochet may be a good reintroduction.

    @BillMC
    , thanks for the tip.

    @thepurist
    , I love cake! I wish I could bake but they come out like big biscuits

    @greentrucky, that’s not an avenue I’d thought of. Are there any websites you’d recommend to get me started?

    @chvck, that’s a grand idea. I love the idea of making something I’ll be able to use. I’ve tried picking it up a few times but I keep forgetting how to cast on and off, and I’m hopeless at following videos.

    @Panzerjager
    , are there particular brushes, paints and kits makes you’d recommend? I’ve got a steady hand and an eye for detail, I’d be interested in making the bird kits. My friend makes these

    @Turnerguy. Whilst all cases of harassment should be dealt with swiftly the 9 protected characteristics are given more urgency because they are more likely to face this kind of harassment frequently, and it is more likely to have a negative outcome. On top of that they also have to deal with derogatory comments and discrimination daily.

    @Turnerguy, feeling a bit threatened, or upset that people don’t fancy you? There’s no need to add to the prejudice or diminish the difficulties trans people face to prove your masculinity
