thanks guys…averaging chips twice a week at present…also on bread I saw something said that bread was the secret fattening food that people did not realise even wholegrain!

I like the idea of restricting the carbs to 2 portions a day. I can see how that might work and I might gibe it a go.

As to pampering the kids it is difficult because we have just gone through a messy divorce so you dont want to be too hard on them…I have two boys 17 and 14 and one daughter 7 years old. Boys are fundamentally lazy!

Om the spuds I grow my own as I have an allotment but not much coming off it this time of year.

maybe not good for them but they are fussy eaters…they are healthy really they are but I understand that eating chips forever wil leventually catch up with them. I try to stuff as much fruit in them as possible to help balance out the crap.

I could cook separate but you know it is not always easy as I work full time and looking after 3 kids on your own you dont get alot of time!

I concede I need to make a greater effort however.

I dont think s wellhung because I am using two methods to charge; through the USB on the PC and through a mains adapter. I will check however to make sure.

Theres a bit nexr to the pub but you can only squeeze in about 2 or 3 cars…Last time I was there as you say they were much more biker friendly. We drank there (but not eat) a few times which helped.

Alternatively a short way up the road (towards the A20) there's a turning and entrance for an industrial site. It is normally closed (gated) so can park in entrance area.

    Kona unit 29er

    Klein Arrirude V

I think I will get rid of the kona steel cindercone. I am inclined to get rid of the unit too but might keep it. If I get the swift it will obviously go. Likewise the road rat could replace the Alan CX. Also the cotic soul could replace the Klein but I do like the Attitude V 😉

thanks guys…well the alan has continental tyres so if I switch that maybe half the battle! (thanks melfy)

I will try the washing up liquid; I have heard of the talc or french chalk on the tube helping prevent punctures!

I feel some purchases coming on!

I got a 'quick link' but I am not sure if that is the same as a half link?

I agree about the magic ratio as this is where I started before getting the tensioner fitted.

Thanks Donk – I will try that technique. I have been changinh tubes for years but I will think of what you said next tiem I do one.

Thanks nickjob – i will check out the crank brothers levers – are they metal and are they strong? My plastic ones bend when I try to use them on these rims!

thanks guys…punctures tend to be glass or thorns…there is so much glass in the road from broken bottles thrown from cars and the like…

Gator skins sound like the answer for both c/cross and road bike I think.

I tend to ride under inflated according to my mates but do not generally suffer from snakebites!

I will try tubeless for my 29er as I have had some success with my 26" MTB going tubeless although I did not set it up (bought it second hand like that).

I really feel for you, his wife and his kids…Cancer is tough; I lost both parents acousin, two uncles and numerous friends to this horrible diease. I decided to give something back and support the excellent macmillan nurses. I have two long challenges raising over £6k so far (still collecting – see my web site). It really helped me to think I am helping others through this excellent charity 🙂

Thanks guys…I am going to try the iworks trial to see if I get on with it. I am not sure how much it is after that (compared to MS MAC office).

It will at least get me underway…Do iworks doc transpose in word or visa verse?

I guess you weren't using the ability of Acsent to backup your data to a MobileMe account unfortunately? The licence email isn't stored on-line somewhere?

    unfortunately not 🙁

I will try and contact them and see if I can convince them I did once have a licenced copy!

I will try sport tracks with my PC laptop as well…

ok will do..i have some spare sealant so I suppose just squeeze some more in there and re-flate

    aw
    Free Member

I have tubeless which I inherited from the guy I bought the bike from. Now after six months I think the sealant is drying up as the tyres keep slowly deflating. I noticed the presta valves knurled nut thing are stiff and I need pliers to release before pumping up each time.

Which is the best way to get more sealant in? through the valve core by unscrewing it or break the seal on the rim?

I am a complete newb as regards tubeless BTW…

BigJohn – I have a team carbon boardman and a cyclocross SS so tried proper road bikes 🙂

    Tang – YGM!

Not sure about bar ends. i do not really want a off road SS MTB style bike but an on road commute bike…

    aw

I do fancy the flat bar and SS version. mt crosser is SS with drops and I do like the drops but flats give you more control if less hand positions.

I think I will buy a singlespeed flat bar version very soon 🙂

Christmas present to me! Wife left me 3 months ago for another guy and took the kids so I think I will treat myself – life too short.

do swifts come all built or just as frame only?

I am really interested in one and have been for sometime…but what about the other singulars…peregrine and hummingbird?

They look just lovely and I love the 45 degree drop bars in the pic earlier in the post…

my 97 cone converted firstly as magic ration but when that was not so magic I used a DMR chain tensioner…

I now have problem with the tensioner as I cannot get enough tension on the chain whether it is above or below the chain. Do I need to change the chain length?

    Thanks mudhound!

how to get more liquid in there?

    aw

I had a flat on my tubeless but I think it is because I have had them (and the bike) six months and the fluid may have 'gone off' a bit. The tyres do deflate between rides a little. I rode on at the weekend a fairly flat tyre and lazily rode until it was completely flat only 1 mile from my home. A gave it a pump up and it was sweet again however I noticed a little white fluid on the wheel which I assume had leaked from the tyre.
