the cotic might have more zing like the old konas but are they more superior otherwise I might as well stick with my old kona!

AYUP – where is the best place to buy?

Combined cost of joystick and enduro is £400+ ?

yes I am not sure XC = spds necessarily…I find I am clipping out ‘just in case’ all the time on technical stuff.

I guess the uphills will be about weight…I love single track so I want a bike to do that job at least

Not sure about the flats are good for commute comment?

I used to use flats on my old cindercone. They were like big bear traps and I loved them, then I got convinced by posts here and all the mags that you needed SPDs so got some spuds. I miss my flats and might take another look at them. I think clipless or spds are good for on road where you need the pedal efficiency but off road when a dab here and there is useful I am not so sure 🙂

yes scandal maybe hard but the carbon rigid forks help I believe?

what is the simple like Jase?

inbred sounds good but would it not be any better than the cone?

The lack of discs would not be a problem as in most situations v brakes are fine!

I like no cables and the joystick is so neat for the commute…

the DX is p7 not ps2 sorry 🙁

The battery faff does put me off the p7 option a little…I like the look of the ay-ups but they are pricey…

would a joystick and a exposure maxx enduro for off road be a bit expensive?

I tend to use muti grain bars either the raisin or the oat ones…other than that have made some energy bars from a cycling mag that are good.

repair – think of the environment not just cost and besides it is good practice for when you do not have a spare tube!

I find MTB tubes easy to repair but road or skinny tubes very difficult.

This is my kona cindercone SS conversion. The original bike was a 1997 cone i bought second hand in 99 from recycle in Penge for £230.

The bike has done me excellent service geared and SS and I have tried to replace it with a string of bikes but none has come close…kona cindercone 2001 (alu) and kona unit 2-9.

5 mile commute…all down hill in the morning and uphill on the way home. The downhill was pretty sketchy and I nearly wiped out a pedestrian on the way!

The steep uphill coming home was not so much fun but I cycled most of it. In parts the snow was too deep to turn the cogs!

I live in kent BTW 🙂

Tomorrow I am trying the MTB as today I was on the SS cyclo cross.

    Here’s a 16″ kona unit 2-9…

or a kona cindercone SS conversion 97 (18″)…

But I would go cyclo cross such as this old alu Topcross…
