Well I've lived in the same place for 15 odd years and rode new local singletrack yesterday. Thank you deers.

Yep, its rubbish, never go there, especially with a 29er and nice big grippy tyres.

Ahhhh yes the Tikkabilla girl and the channel 5 girls as well. 2 kids under 4 – what's a lie-in?

She really doesn't look at home in those heels – but I'm not changing channels.

From my own personal experience over the past 2 months whilst building up good "base" miles on the roadbike I'd say road'ing is mentally harder; hour after hour of solo sluggin it out in all weathers, mtbing easier to motivate for.

£100? Not round here you wouldn't

My Tboy, large, very light, very luvly, very confidence inspiring – 2 months old now and I still wash and polish it after every ride!

I love my Tboy as well, but even I don't think it's the loveliest, that award would have to go to a (steel – sorry) Colnago Master X, but that Niner is very pretty, but no good to my back.

Sean Kelly, you'd never catch him complaining about a muddy MM course!

Aye, that makes me chuckle, well actually anything he says in that accent of his is quite amusing. GC = overall standings.

Epic day, but how did the leaders let such a big group get away? Radio malfunction?

Ahhhh a real Pace, lovely – even in ano overload. Wish I'd grabbed one "back in the day" or maybe not – I like my back.

Well, after a day in the office (frustratingly) I don't give two hoots about my long term health, the bikes prep'd and kit ready for a dawn thrashing tomorrow. I'll wake up half the valley with my barking though!

Aye, mcmoonter, just back in the land of the internet, so didn't see that earlier thread! They're still harder than most padded up weekend trail centre warriors though! Is that a troll?

I had one for years, ran it v light as a xc race bike and loved it, latterly put 120mm forks on it risers and bigger tyres used it on big Scottish epics and still loved it. The wife rides it now! Early ones wore out bushes quickly, but don't think that's a problem now, suspension action simple, effective and stiffens when climbing in the granny ring – which I like. Would have another (I'm now on a SC Tallboy)

Are we not all missing the point – the UK is skint! How can we pay for the replacement when we're already facing massive cuts in all areas?

I wouldn't bivvy anywhere near the Cairngorms, there's fresh snow around here!

Ahhhh, the BV, got fond memories of being towed around Norway by them.

Don't use them on wet rooted trails, hard compound v slippy – collarbone breakers!

I'd have one as I rapidly seem to be turning into a fanboy. Shame about flash though……

My old Endura kit = good, new baggy singletrack shorts, seams split v early = bad. Might stump up for some new Assos shorts, Lycra – of course.

Italspark – good tune choice. I'm all booked up for a big locals wedding that w/e. Saturday will be taken up with getting ready (well the missus getting ready, me minding kids!) the "do" then Sunday will probably be quite messy….. Monday working. I'll stay in touch and maybe catch you for part of a ride.

If all else fails, pour some linseed oil into the frame, front and rear, through the small vent holes, let it soak around a bit, pour out extra. Ride. We used to have probs like this in the early days of Superlites and after exhausting everything, we tried this and it worked.

+1 again (so is that +2?) first year passed in a daze of sleep deprevation. 2 years in, good sleep every night = biking back on line.

I've done it one way, it's baaaaad. Well done Mr Lee for even putting himself up for the attempt. Wild horses couldn't drag me back to the LL stretch!

njee20, maybe the sum of a lot of little things; the tubeless Pythons are v light (but a bit shite at the mo') 4ti pedals, Masterpiece post, carbonio Flite, KMC X9sl chain, Marta SL's, grips (cut down), XO rear mech and rotary shifters, dunno what bars he's running, but might be a bit there (?) ditto cassette, Maxm stem – silly light. So there might be a pound there, mind you all irrelevant now, put on Rampage 2.35's last night! Worth it though in our present conditions.

Errrr, it's warm and the sun is out?!!!!! Really? I'm just back in from a 2hr ride in the sleety snow!

BigDummy the forks an old repainted Reba – done by Argos. I'd really like to try a bolt through something or other in possibly 120mm, but funds low just now! Mr Tall, Interested in the tyre feedback on the Rampages, the local LBS owner – David Keegan at Bothy Bikes, is now a 29er convert (funnily enough on a Tallboy as well!) so theres a pretty good selection of 29er tyres there including the Ardents so I'm going to try a few before buying.

Jings thats a good effort. Rob Lee binned it on the return leg at Kinlochleven, the Highlands are big.

Clink, it's from Bothy, picked the frame up today and just in from the garage after a very happy build up. Kit is all the usual weight weeny suspects; XTR/XO, Marta SL's, full Ti Eggbeaters, Stans 355 on DT240s, tubeless Pythons (these'll probably get hoy'd though) carbon Monkeylites, carbon Flite on a Thomson Masterpiece, Maxm stem (rare but silly light), Reba's and I think that's it. The scales are pretty good, my old bike – a Titus Racer X 29er was 24.5lbs on them!
Too dark to ride now (not going to make it's maiden voyage a night ride!) but will ride, fettle, tune, etc, tomorrow. Excited.

You fancy my Titus Racer X 29er that's up for sale? It's a medium. Much cheapness!

Errrrrr you'll be lucky! Even before the current blizzards, which I'm watching out of the window just now, everywhere above about 450m i.e. halfway up the ski road was covered in several feet of snow! It should have cleared from the valley trails by the time you're up, but as for the higher stuff……. Bring your skis!
