Just to reiterate what others have said about the mw80's they keep my feet warm unless it gets really cold and I'm out for more than a couple of hours but they don't cook your feet in autumn or spring. Before my feet were numb within 20 minutes in the winter.

Don't worry PowerPoint 2010 has pretty much taken everything you might want out of Keynote and copied it.

I'd like to thank rOcKeTdOg for giving me someone to look down on. It's given me a wonderful feeling of superiority. It's nice to be reminded just how good it can feel to sneer at someone else. This guy is such a low life that while we are all worrying about important things like which tyres this loser is just thinking about how to keep a roof over his head. Next time try to get a picture showing his face though, I really feel I can only fully despise him when I know what he looks like.

No complaints from the previous owners because they are all in the woods with the slappers.

Mine was off road and I was towing at least 2 people in a wheelie bin who'd brought along an anchor. It was hard to decide if the soggy grass or the deep mud was worse. For once the wet chalk seemed like a relief. My sealskinz were about full to the top by the time I got to work. I'm glad I reproofed my jacket and shorts on Monday.

My commute home begins at the bottom of Bear Road in Brighton, I find I'm plenty warm enough by the time I reach the top. It would be nice to have a more gentle start. If I'm starting early in the morning I do try to start slowly until I'm warmed up but later in the day I don't feel the need for it.

Is this one of the new features – I thought we'd always been able to go round in circles.

The problem is that people ask the wrong question. An example being the thread on a sustainable office where the OP got upset when it was pointed out that what he did in his office as regards saving power and paper etc. was nothing as to what could be achieved by looking at the designs they were producing for their clients. If you have to ask the question in the first place how do you know you have sufficient knowledge to ask the right one?

I've got an eVent jacket whose performance is either ok with one base layer I have or very good with a different base layer. The good base layer is a £10 Altura one the not so good one is a DHB. The Altura one ends up damp on the outside but feels much dryer on the inside whereas the DHB one feels as damp inside as out. So my view is get the base layer right first before you worry about what is going over it.

I ordered one for my son over the phone yesterday at 1 o'clock. It arrived at 3 o'clock this afternoon with the off road tyres fitted the bottle cage and bottle and his name on the top tube. 26 hours from order to delivery. I'm impressed.

Can I take this opportunity to suggest reading Pat Barkers Ghost Road Trilogy. It's available from The Book People for less than a fiver. Here

Washed my Gill eVent jacket and Altura Attack 3/4's in it yesterday and then used their wash in reproofer. Rode to work in the rain this morning and both were shedding water as if they were new. The Nik wax stuff doesn't require you to tumble dry or iron it which is also good. I've used Grangers in the past and I don't think it's as good.

I rode with V's until earlier this year when I put a an Avid BB7 on the front. It's made a big difference not only to braking in the wet but also improves mud clearance. I'm still running a V at the back because my frame has no disk mounts so I'm constantly reminded just how much better the disks are. The BB7's are pretty easy to fit and maintain and you won't have to buy new levers. I've also got the Odurs and while they are heavy they seem to be very reliable.

You'll need enough power for you flatscreen telly in there as well now that you've realised that putting it above the fireplace is a crime. :-)

Having read it I'd just put it down as a waste of words(like most stuff on here. :-)) I cannot believe anybody writes this stuff and I'm even more surprised that anyone would read it.

Put the screen above the fireplace? Do they have fireplaces in trailer homes? :-)

How heavy are you. At 60kg I can't get full travel out of my 85's despite having the softest spring and the spacers removed. They are heavy but they work well. I went for them because I wanted something low maintenance and reliable and I haven't been disappointed. I haven't been able to find any user service guides for them and the Magura website suggests they are not user serviceable. However if they do need doing I'll probably give it a go myself as it seems silly to pay for servicing on a relatively cheap fork.

I still think that watching a B&W image appear before you in a developing tray is magic. For me it will always be the very best moment in the whole process. Make sure someonelse gets the chance to experience that if you can.

I´ve still got all my darkroom kit. I don´t know if I´ll ever use it again but I couldn´t just dump it. If nothing else put it in your local paper as free to collector´ give it a chance to be used again.

No but I want to try it. I think like others though I´m waiting for more reports from the real world. I already run a hub gear and would look for a belt compatible frame if and when I´m in the market for a new one. Even if you don´t get on with the belt though it should be relatively easy to swap it out for a chain drive should´nt it?

6 miles each way to work 5 miles of which is off road. I ride that whenever I'm in the office all year round. When the evenings are lighter I tend to do detours to add a bit more distance and try to get a 2-3 hour ride on a Friday.

If your going to use it travel with it make sure it has a matt screen. Much nicer in the real world to use than glossy screens

Population does not need to be reduced. When it does need to be reduced it will.

It really is very simple, what some here are really saying that they would like it reduced so there are more resources for them and the things they like will not be used up or destroyed by others.

Nick – Thorn will sell you the bike and give you a 100 days to decide if it's right for you, they obviously don't really think a weekend is enough. Don't like it take it back for a full refund. That's what swung me to buying it, not sure if I would have been so keen if I hadn't had that option. I've found I've become more impressed with it the longer I've had it which over 3 years now. Rode home in absolute filth tonight and just wiped the chain down and relubed it. In the time I've owned it total maintenance on the drive chain has been no more than 3 hours (3 oil changes) more than a single speed would have required.

Can't wait till a few more belt drives options are available, that chain wiping and lubing is so tedious, I can end up wasting up to 5 minutes doing that.

I think money is probably better spent on the less disposable parts of the bike and if what you have is working for you then stick with it. One advantage of better quality kit is that it tends to be easier to set up but again you seem to have no problem in doing that. There is of course the Rohloff if you want a drive train that lasts.
