I used to have a pair of those clear Madison glasses years ago and whenever I put them on I immediately felt like I was another foot above the ground. They made riding anything frightening.

Reading this has made me really hungry, I've nothing here to eat and now I've got to go out and ride up Bear Road in the rain. It will be both intense and slow so at least I'm guaranteed to lose weight. :-)

It would take about a month at the moment it's so horrible. My commute over the downs takes 35 minutes on a good day in the summer. At the moment it's up to an hour depending on just how wet it is and the level of horse and tractor traffic that's churned it up.

I can't understand why anyone would want to build anything so ugly, inconvenient, damp, and old-fashioned. There are some amazing modern buildings these days, and maybe if he'd employed an architect he could have had a beautiful glass, steel and concrete structure.

    For 3 grand!

I would suggest that the riders would need to be of a similar weight.

A freelancer I've worked with once pulled a German lady while on site. Another tech asked him the following day if this particular German lady shaved her armpits. He responded that her armpits looked like Don King in a headlock.

It seems that from what you have said that it really might be best for her long term health and mental state to resign. I say that purely because I get the impression that she is really disappointed with herself for what she did. If she does resign then she will always know that she did something wrong but faced up to it and took responsibility for it. If she fights it and wins I doubt she will ever feel in herself that she acted properly.

Well if you'd actually been to Seoul you'd think Coventry was beautiful. :-)

And while were on the similarity to the English Scottish border has anyone ever seen TJ and Kim Jong-il in the same room.

    Thought not.

Many years ago I had a Golf and on one drive from Brighton up to Southend in the early hours of the morning it decided it was full beam or nothing. So driving up cross country I'd have to dip the lights at the last moment and rely on the oncoming cars headlights as a guide as to where to steer. Scary for me but I can't help thinking it frightened the on coming drivers even more.

If I haven't used full beam on the current car for a while the contacts get dirty and there can be a few seconds delay between the normal beam going off and the full beam coming on.

You can appeal the parking fine with the pay&display ticket as proof.

So what if you set up a website where people could buy and sell used pay and display tickets and took a commission. Obviously you would just advertise it as a resource for collectors of such tickets.

That was some downpour. I always know it's bad when the top of Bear road disappears into the cloud.

Well hora if he was in Tescos as a customer then of course he should never have paid it and should have made a claim for harassment. His indignation is fully justified and I trust that he has written to Tescos to let them know that he has transferred his business elsewhere.

I'm not advocating ever paying these "fines" what I'm pointing out is the laughable indignation of those who are caught. Where have I seen this before, ah yes, that was it, it was those MP's exercising their rights to expenses.

Guess what, were all the same, we all want something for nothing.

I love all the indignation. It is of course every persons right to drive onto someone else's property and park there. So were you shopping there for all that time or did you just abuse the free parking? I hope you won't object if I park across your driveway sometime if that just happens to be convenient for me and saves me a bit of money. Of course I won't do it if your car is on the driveway. And if you object you can always take civil action against me. I have to warn you though that I shall ignore your letters and threats. You'll get bored soon enough and give up and I'll drive off into the sunset with my righteous indignation intact. :-)

So in short yes I think you can ignore it.

We've still got Formica worktops from 1968 and they really are indestructible. Made of compressed paper and you can put a pan straight from the hob onto it with no problems and nothing stains it. Apparently it's being made again so go retro.

Scrap the cycle to work scheme which only benefits those whose employers will co-operate and favours the wealthier higher rate tax payer and replace it by removing the VAT on bikes up to a value of £1000.

Sorry but earplugs are not the answer. The answer is right there on the bed, it's the pillow that should be placed over the offenders face and pressed very firmly down until the problem is eliminated.

I use nothing else! I never clean the chain just wipe it over and reapply. Current chain is a year old and the bike is an all year round off road commuter. The joy and simplicity of hub gears – just use whatever is lying around and ride.
