I've got the Bender Fender and so far it seems very good. I like the fact that it does a good job of protecting the stanchions and the headset. I made a inner tube neoguard type thing and while it does keep stuff out of your face it directs even more crap onto your forks.

I'd be more than happy to live in a semi or a terrace again but if I've got a garage as I have now then no way would I want a shared drive

Why do so many, but I will say not all, expensive watches look like they have come out of a Christmas cracker?

When a club lets a players contract run out so he if free to move to any of their rivals it tells you all you need to know about how they regard that player.

I bought the Park tool recently which is a good choice because you can use a ratchet or a spanner. I found the best thing was to put a bolt through the tool into the axle so it can't slip and then use a spanner. Halfords had them cheaper than anyone else a couple of weeks ago.

My thorn uses a 113mm axle and runs the chainring in the outer position so your calculations make sense if you want to run it in the middle.

I took my computer off a few years ago, decided I'd rather be looking at the view than a screen. I don't care how far I've been or how fast I went or what my average speed was, none of those have any bearing on whether I'm enjoying myself or not. My riding is all from the doorstep and after 24 years I don't need a GPS to tell me where I am. I think your right though and if I did want something to look at other than the view then it might as well be able to tell me where I am.

My mate has just picked a raleigh lizard up

And that's not easy as it weighs around the same as a small car. My wife had on once and I don't think the frames made of tubes more like solid bars.

RIP has a belt drive VN Zion with a Rohloff that he's been running for a couple of months, he seems to like it a lot, I expect he'll be along shortly to tell you about it.

You are missing the point the tape is not faulty because there was simply not enough for your needs, the comment on the website is there so you would have been aware the previous customer said it could have been longer for him too but he did not return it or ask for a refund because it was not long enough for his needs,

Well it looks like they are fully aware that they are selling something that's not fit for purpose. They should make a note of the issue in the product description or stop selling it. I would just take your custom elsewhere. And make sure you leave a review of the product that makes the problem clear.

    Any more questions?

I have a question trailertrash. Do these walls or nibs need to run the whole height of the house or not. It looks as though in this case it is only at ground floor level. An interesting post though and has given me something else to consider in planning taking down one of our walls. That is structural and yes I will be getting a structural engineer to look at it.

We've booked one for October, 3 bedrooms and parking 5 minute walk into town. Can't remember if it's got a dishwasher or not. I'll have to try and remember to come back to this thread then and let you know. We found it on this site.

Edit yes it has a dishwasher details here

As an aside I presume custom frames don't have to pass the CEN tests. So if you really do want a light steel frame maybe that's one way around it. I know that as a 65kg wheels on the ground xc rider I could use a much lighter frame quite safely.

Sack rot. Best to wear tight fitting underwear so you hang on to all the bits when it gives way.

I was having issues with chrome and flash and removed flash and that seems to have sorted it. I guess there was a conflict with it and the upgraded chrome with integrated flash as I'd not had the problem in the past.

My current bike a Thorn Raven Catalyst. I should have bought the Enduro.

I bought it configured as commuter, a job it did perfectly and I always had it mind that I would continue to commute and that should I ever no longer be able to cycle to work I could convert it to a mountain bike. Then after 2 years I thought why am I riding to work on the road when I could do it off road, and that's what I've been doing for the last 2 years. So I wished I'd bought a disk specific frame. The V brake is fine in the summer but it's a bit of a pain in the winter as it tends to get clogged with mud.

You picked it up last week then?

To be honest I can't recall how long it took to get it, a month maybe, I certainly don't remember pacing up and down waiting for it. It was a lovely bike, built up with all the bits from my Rockhopper.

I've got a Roberts white spider frame from 1988 hanging in the garage. If you could still get them for the £400 that cost including forks I'd have another.

When you absolutely know something is a bad idea there is no need to do it just to be sure – applying the front brake alone while cornering on gravel.

Check your pump when someone at work has borrowed it taken it apart and used bits of it to convert the air gun to blow up their tyres.

You can take someone's pump apart and convert the air gun at work to blow up your tyres.

If the person who has borrowed your pump reassembles the pump in a certain way and put it back on your bike without mentioning it you will get a flat on your next ride at the furthest point from home and will bend your valve core on your spare tube as you try to fit it.

When the little voice says "stop, what you have is usable and if you try to improve on it will only get worse" listen. – When thinking no I can get a bit more air in this knackered tube.

Gutted – all I get on my commute is the rolling South Downs fluffy bunnies suicidal sheep, badgers, foxes, horses and fresh air. And if that gets too tedious I can always cycle along the seafront and listen to the waves.

I think the guy who was bitten here in Brighton was bitten several times and just happened to have a bad reaction. As far as I remember he was mid 30's and in good health. I'm quite happy to have them around as OCB says they are not aggressive and will only bite if you provoke them.

Looks like a false widow. We're getting a lot of them at the moment. One of if not the only UK spider that can break your skin with it's bite. Some people can react quite badly to the bites. They've been in the UK for around 100 years IIRC but they do seem to have been multiplying quickly recently. We found our first one 3 years ago and this year we must have had 5 or 6 in the house, 2 in one day earlier this week. They were mainly restricted to the south coast but have been spreading their range recently.

It's not impossible that they could kill you but if you had a bad reaction to a bite but I'm not sure there is a single documented case. A man living a couple of streets away from us was hospitalised by one when he rolled over on it in bed and got himself bitten a couple of years ago.

You might not want to let the girlfriend read this.

That's right up there with moral turpitude as something everyone should have on their cv.
