  • Merida Has A Brand New One-Twenty Trail Bike For 2019

At the moment the only bike I have has a Rohloff so it’s not relevant but hopefully my new Boardman may turn up tomorrow and I’m going to start by only using the middle ring and see how I get on. 32 x 11 should be fine I like spinning the gears and I get scared at anything over 20 anyway.

I’m not sure about the ups, I’ll have the same as my current 4th gear as the lowest on the middle ring but I’ll have around 7 less pounds of metal to drag up the hills.

    Chickenhawk by Robert Mason.

Great book that always comes up on one of these threads on any forum that has a majority of men on it.

    DON’T BUY THORN

I’m going straight downstairs and throwing nine in the skip, I’ve only had it 5 years so not really long enough to realise it was so bad. :-)

British gas sent my dad a six way block which combines with one of your remotes to switch the power off to everything- 4 sockets always go off and 2 are selectable to stay on or go off. He didn’t need it so I’m using it and it works well, the Sky box always has power and when you put that in standby everything else is powered down.

Wow. We get 24 of them each day here in Wales….

That’s because you get all your hours as a subsidy from us and we each have to give up one a day for you lot, much the same with all your money. :-)

I haven’t seen it in years but I don’t think there is a lot of dialogue.

Of course it may be that your hard drive is now in the possession of the police and they have been asked to fob you off while they log all your donkey porn. :-)

I’ve had only ever had one bike at a time since I bought my first mountain bike in 1986. That will all change when the Boardman I ordered yesterday arrives though.

1 and 1 on the way as I couldn’t resist the Boardman Pro at £900.

Both are 100mm xc hardtails but the current bike is my off road commuter and the new one will be my weekend and extend commutes in the summer bike. I’ll probably put my Pace rigid forks on the commuter and then with the Rohloff it will be virtually maintenance free. I might put the current Rebas on the Boardman and either put the new forks away till I need them or sell them.

After reading this I stopped faffing around wondering what to buy next and ordered one today. None in stock locally but it should be here by the end of the week.

On an actual mountain bike rather than on my road bike it was September 3rd 1986 the day I bought my Rockhopper and it was on the South Downs behind where I live.

As I have said before against the wall if you live in a trailer and sleep with your sister, otherwise away from the wall.

Not only can you ride bloody quickly but I bet if you get out your tape measure you’ll discover you have a 12″ cock! :-)

I’ll have a look when they arrive. I’ve got Rebas on the current bike as well which I bought last year from Merlin so I’ll have to check them too.
I’m quite happy with 100mm, all my riding is xc on the South Downs, so I didn’t worry about getting confirmation on the travel adjust. All I was after was a sub 25lb cross country bike for the summer and at £900 it seemed too good to miss.

I’ve just been into Halfords after reading this and spoken to the guy in the bikehut. He thinks the Reba forks on the hardtail are extendible to 120 and the manual that is supplied with the bike gives instructions on how to do it.
They had none in stock but I’ve just been onto the website and ordered one which should be here in a couple of days. I had been looking at the whippet but at £900 the Boardman seemed to good to miss and I can always shift all the bits over to a whippet frame later. Although I expect a wheel upgrade might be the most sensible first move.

7 March 1985 The Smiths played the Dome in Brighton which was seating only. Well no one was taking any notice of that and everyone was standing on the backs of the seats. I’ve no idea what it cost to fix them all after but the place looked wrecked at the end of the night. One of the best gigs I’ve been to was Robyn Hitchcock at the All Saints centre in Lewes and that was cabaret seating, very civilised.

minimising the energy lost to casing deformation,

I take it this is looking at road use. IIRC the data from Schwalbe for off road suggested that it was the ability for wider tyres to deform more, as they could run at lower pressure, that made them faster. The argument being that the increased deformation of the tyre meant the weight of the bike was not being moved upwards as much.

I’ve had one for 3 years now and I’d buy another. Most of our driving is fairly local and it still averages around 50mpg. I looked at the alternatives but when I looked at all the reliability info I could find it seemed to come out on top. It also has slightly more luggage space than the competition but there’s not a lot in it. As khani says they are good to drive as well. The sort of car that no one wants but everybody needs.

No, but I think there may have been a 20% reduction in full stops.

I’ve caught Wiggle before cheating on their sales. Basically they announced 20% of all waterproofs but at the same time moved the Gill Pro Speed jacket from the waterproof category to the windproof category. I e-mailed them and was fobbed off with the story that the sale was determined by the marketing department and the change of category by the product manager and that they had in no way colluded with each other.

Quite frankly I’d find it easier to believe cynic-al and TJ are about to announce their civil partnership.

I have one on the front and can’t say I’ve noticed much squealing. It’s the stock rotor and I’ve never cleaned it with anything and I’m using avid pads.

No I’m 5’6″ and while I know that there are 29ers out their that would fit me they tend to look as ridiculous as the 26″ers for those that are 6’5″.

None here other than a small mortgage. Down to a combination of good fortune and my attitude to shopping which tends to be if I don’t buy it will I die? No, well then I’ll do without.

same happened to a track when I was down in Brighton

They’ve done a section between Woodingdean and Kingston to make access easier to the phone masts. It’s been a good few years and it’s only just settled down now, horrible to ride on when it’s all moving around.
