Keep the negatives as they hardly take up any room and then sort through the actual prints only keeping the best stuff.

Hub gears, 5 years of commuting all year round now and barely any maintenance or cleaning and 3 years of that has been off road.

I once panicked when I heard on the radio that Earth was being attacked by Mars, so easily done.

He’s no Orson Welles is he though.

While riding on a train goin’ west
I feel asleep for take my a rest
I dreamed a dream that make me sad
Concerning myself and the first few friends I had.

With half-damp eyes I stared to the room
Where my friends and I spent many an afternoon
Where we together weathered many a storm
Laughin’ and singing ’till the early hours of the morn’.

By the old wooden stove where our hats was hung
Our words were told, our songs were songs
Where we longed for nothin’ and were satisfied
Joking and talking about the world outside.

With haunted hearts through the heat and cold
We never thought we could ever get very old
We thought we could sit forever in fun
Our chances really was a million to one.

As easy it was to tell black from white
It was all that easy to tell wrong from right
And our choices they were few and the thought never hit
That the one road we traveled would ever shatter and split.

How many a year has passed and gone
Many a gamble has been lost and won
And many a road taken by many a first friend
And each one I’ve never seen again.

I wish, I wish, I wish in vain
That we could sit simply in that room again
Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat
I’d give it all gladly if our lives could be like that.

Good to see that aged 10 they already have “bitter rivals” the long traditions of football are safe in their hands. 🙂

Motorways have marker posts every 100m (and bigger signs every km) just go and check your computer against those.

Funny I’d never thought of going for a ride on the motorway.

Have you measured one revolution of front wheel and compared that figure to the 2.1 setting on computer?
Can differ slightly depending on tyres.

While actually riding the bike of course. I put a computer back on my bike for the first time in years the other day and my measured wheel circumference was quite different to the cateye guide in the manual for that size tyre.

I’ve got a rigid bike which I love riding for my off road commute but an hour on it is plenty for me these days. I’ve had a full suss as well which I went straight too after 12 years of rigid only which was a revelation in that I could ride for hours and still use my hands by the end of the ride. And now I have a hardtail which is the ideal bike for me.

Hughie ride can be booked down at the port. Sat in a 1968 Hughie with the doors open as The End starts to play at full volume and the rotors begin to chop through the air as you leave the ground is something unforgettable. Banking over 500ft above the shark filled water with only a forty odd year old canvas belt holding you in makes you think as well.

Thanks, I thought I could just pull them out but a closer look has shown that the bottom of one foam wiper has rolled up behind itself and is trapped by the top wiper. So they have probably been like this from new and I assume it occurred when they were originally put together. As they worked perfectly for nearly a year before I shall just reassemble them as they were and see what happens. They are my spare pair anyway since I reverted to rigid on one bike so if it doesn’t work properly I can always strip them again and replace the wipers.

The growth hormone Glenbrutonol is a banned substance within European agriculture, there is no way that European beef products can be infected with this substance.

The growth hormone Glenbrutonol is a banned substance within cycling, there is no way that cyclists can be infected with this substance.

If it’s banned in agriculture and therefore can’t possibly be in beef then logically you must conclude that if it’s banned from cycling then it can’t possibly be in a cyclist.

Or maybe your a little naive when it comes to the world of farming.

    Do trolls use Glenbrutonol?

I bought one of the last of last years hardtail pros recently when they were reduced to clear. Apart from the killer saddle it’s great. Great value for money and I can ride a really good bike without having everyone thinking what is such a crap rider doing on such a good bike. I can just pass for some middle aged bloke whose walked into Halfords and bought whatever they told him to.

I had thought about waiting for this years model but figured that it would either go up in price or the spec would drop to keep it within the cycle to work scheme.

It looks like your not using anything to keep the chain on, I take it that hasn’t been an issue.

6 miles home by the shortest route for me with 5 miles of that off road and miles and miles of diversions as well. Took a little diversion on the way in this morning and will do again on the way home.

Well unless it would last twice as long the expensive option at twice the price doesn’t make sense and I don’t think anyone would ever claim it would last twice as long.

People may laugh at that Girvin now but it was great in it’s day. A day out on my original Rockhopper and I’d be having to use my whole hand to operate the friction shifters by the end of a ride my hands and thumbs were hurting so much. That Girvin made it a lot more pleasant.

This might be helpful with hub info and there are other links to sites in English. The Peter White site has a lot of information that might be useful.

What about a dynamo version. It seems there is no cheap competition in that market with the Supernova triple being the only really viable off road unit. Something that could out perform that but with a lower setting for road riders who don’t want to blind on coming cars might find a market.

I’ve only been doing it for 25 years but it seems like a good idea to me so far. I’ve no interest or the time to drive places to ride a bike, I like just going out of the door and enjoying the riding and the fresh air. Even now I find routes I haven’t ridden before. The South Downs don’t offer what a lot of people want but if you just enjoy cross country riding there are miles and miles of bridleways.

made it very difficult to go from gas to brake pedal.

But for those with normal as opposed to crazy-legs it’s not an issue.

I’ve had the car for 4 years and would have another. Like all cars or vans you get the odd bad one but when I looked at the Doblo against the competition it seemed to be more reliable and have fewer known issues.

I’m sitting in Natal in a dark cold room running a show for the 4th time while outside the South Atlantic is rolling up the beach, the temperature is mid 20’s and doesn’t vary all year and most of the people are in the pool at the bar.

I’ve had the Fiat Doblo for 4 years and have been really pleased with it.
Loads of room, drives well and averages around 50 to the gallon with very few long drives or motorway driving.

My 717’s are 5 years old and still good with 5 winters of commuting 3 of them off road. Some of the coating has come off but only small amounts.
I had avid ceramic specific pads on the back but recently switched to Shimano ceramic specific and they seem a lot better although I put new cables on at the same time which would have also contributed to the dramatic improvement.

I pretty much guarantee that I’d NOT be described as “worked as an accountant”. Rather, it would be “NickF, a 45 year old accountant”.

Either way you die an accountant which must truly depress you. Maybe it’s time to be a lion tamer. That way it would be “worked briefly as a lion tamer.”

makes it like a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Which is beyond awesome.

That’s all well and good but it means you’ve got to carry a towel everywhere you go which takes up more room than all those books you’ve ditched.

I had one a few months ago, well at least the money that goes in the bank has gone up. No ones actually told me I’ve had a rise but then again last week marked 15 years with the company and I’m yet to have my 3 month trial period assesment.
