How does that work on rigids?

Just rap a length of inner tube horizontally tightly around the stansions and super glue the overlap.

Inner tube neo guard copy and crud catcher for me. I did try the moto cross style fenders but found on rigid forks they really bounce around a lot so that every so often it would flick up large lumps of mud that had landed on top of it and then I’d get those straight in the face.

I think ernie’s post is the best I’ve read on here.

I’m trying them on my winter bike at the moment and so far I think I’ll stick with them. The terrain I’m riding on isn’t at all difficult but it does include stretches of bare chalk which will be wet and slippery until at least March and I feel a bit safer not being clipped in. Having said that I was on the floor a couple of days ago before my feet left the pedals despite not being clipped in. I also think I need to try dropping the saddle a fraction as my knees seem to suffer a bit from riding with my heels down. I’m just using some very cheap pedals that came with my Boardman and a pair of specialized shoes a friend gave me years ago, combined with rigid forks it can sometimes be tricky to keep my feet on the pedals but at least so far my shins are still in one piece.
What I really need now is to find some winter shoes that can cope with getting soaked and covered in mud twice a day on the commute.

Quite simply the most stupid question I think I have ever read. 🙂

I did wear my BA first class PJ’s for a while.

I would say get the cheapest condensing model you can buy, performance wise condensers are far superior

Check the performance against temperature. The performance of the condenser units drops dramatically with temperature – the manufacturers quoted figures are often at 20C.
If you want to move it around the desiccant ones are considerably lighter.
Another top tip is to locate it below your thermostat – my wife and kids think the heating is up high but the dehumidifier blowing out warm air means the heating is hardly ever on. 🙂

    Jumper?

Difficult to regulate – a nice cardy will offer better control

Is there anything worse than suddenly coming round to find yourself on the dance floor with no idea how you got there, how long you’ve been there, what the hell you might have been doing while there and realising you now need an escape route to the bar which will avoid catching anybody’s eye.

We have one of these (came recommended from someone on here I think)

I think that may have been me! They are quieter than traditional units and they also remain effective at lower temperatures. I’ve just dug ours out ready for the winter.

Just as an ugly mate will always make you look better so a slower mate will always be useful when you need to run away.

I’ve got dual sided pedals. I find them a good compromise for road use but I don’t like them for off road.

The irony of posting it in the wrong forum.

I read “Adolf Hitler: My part in his downfall” by Spike Milligan when I was about 13 and thought it was the funniest thing in the World.

By the end of page one I was unable to breath I was laughing so hard.

First put the changer to 1 or 14 and then try to do the lower one and then the upper one. If that doesn’t work then do the upper one and then then try the lower. It’s always really difficult one way and fine the other on mine, it’s just I can’t remember which way round it is!

Is this with the external click box or are you struggling with reconnecting the bayonet type connectors?

I’ve always felt it would be better and have more impact if they were worn just on the 11th.

Got some 2.0 Mud X’s in the shed at the moment which seem a bit of overkill at the moment round here (South Downs)

Well I was lying on the South Downs this morning after my mud x front went from under me on the way to work so I wouldn’t say it was too early. To be fair it was wet bare chalk so no tyre was going to much better. I’ve also decided to give flats a try this winter in the I now realise mistaken belief that I might get a foot down in time to save myself.

but it is irritating to see incorrect stuff in print

I take it you post with your eyes closed most of the time. 🙂

If you’d actually wanted to educate people you might have started by saying “I read this in a magazine today but…”

I stayed at the Marriot last week but someone else was paying.

What I will recommend though is the Thai Orchid, 336 Argyle Street. It’s close to Central Station. Food and service both excellent. I went 2 nights running once I’d found it.

Blackpool – I’m back at my Grandmas house going to Stanley Park to go on the boats and then in to town to visit friends who run a cafe and eat as many chips as any kid could ever want.

We went back 3 years ago with 3 generations of the family as it was my mum and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary and they got married and at the time lived in Blackpool. They’d hired one of the really old trams and we saw the lights from that which was fantastic. A few members of the family had had to drop out due to ill health so my dad told the driver to pick up anyone else who fancied a ride.
Spent a day on the pleasure beach as well which was great – those wooden roller-coasters really are something special.

I’ve got the previous model Boardman ht pro and can’t fault it. Oh except the saddle that is which could only have been devised by Lucifer himself.

I used to have a pair of Madison clear glasses years and years ago and they made you feel as if you were at least a foot higher than you were – not good off road.

I’ve never had a problem with distortion from any other glasses I’ve used.
I currently use DeWalt safety glasses which are pretty cheap from Screwfix.

Hopefully someone will be along with some sizing information soon, quite tempted by the what MTB offer but unsure about size.

And helpfully the Endura website doesn’t seem to help on the sizing.

Velcro has no place on a winter boot IMO.

I’ve had no issues with the velcro on my MW80’s.

I did a meeting for Southern Water following a hostile takeover by Scottish Power. The sewage workers and inspectors were not impressed when they received their new boiler suits which fastened with velcro.
Sewage and velcro are not a good combination.

Any idea of the gear range?

Of course most users who end up with such a device will probably set it to the top or the bottom or roughly in the middle.

I’ve tried the single sided pedals and while they were useful on road I found them a pain off road. I’ve just put flats on my off road winter commuter to try it out. I’ll see how I get on.

It all depends on how much and often you ride.I’ve a rigid bike with a Rohloff hub for winter but I commute off road so it gets plastered in mud twice a day. It just gets the chain wiped and squirted with GT85. I really wouldn’t want to ride a bike in those circumstances that needed more maintenance.
And I’ve just ordered a Supernova E3 Triple so I won’t even have the hassle of charging batteries this winter.

But you can’t create the localised high velocity that you can with a blow,

Your absolutely right of course a good blow can often result in a high velocity …

Mine stay up if combined with lycra shorts but not on their own. I used them last winter under Altura Attack 3/4’s. My knees don’t like the cold and they do a good job until it’s cold enough for my winter tights to come out.

Would sucking air back across your food not work better as it’s likely that the air you blow out is warmer than the air you blow back over it. Obviously one would have to also consider that the composition of the air blown as opposed to sucked would be different.

Helmets make you hit your head!

I’ve worn one for 25 years and haven’t hit my head in that time thus both disproving your statement and proving your general viewpoint which is that there are plenty of times when they are unnecessary.

And what’s the best way to keep the jelly babies stuck to your head?
