Bowers was my grandmothers uncle. Get yourself a copy of The Worst Journey in The World. Next time your out on the bike and you’re finding it a bit tough you’ll always be able to think well at least my teeth haven’t shattered with the cold.

Last time I bought a bike mag was 1998. In fact it may have been the last time I bought any magazine.

I’ve just bought some, best price was from UK Bikestore. I’m really pleased with them, i like the stiff sole and they even give enough grip on my dirt cheap Wellgo pedals on the off road commuter.

Well mine is an inch and a half lower when it’s got a 26″ wheel in it and that doesn’t feel low even with the stem slammed and flipped and and flat bars. Might be because I’m not very tall. Will try licking the tire on the next ride.

I’ve had some work done recently and the company that did the inspection for part p didn’t measure the height of any sockets or switches. It may only apply to new build and not actually be part of the part p regs as it would be pretty stupid if during a partial rewire you ended up with sockets and switches at different heights. Someone who actually knows will be along in a minute.

Looking forward to “Rate my electrician”

    I’ve used a 29 wheel in a 440mm pace 31 with 2″ Mud x – loads of clearance.

So now we have to buy an external hdd each,

But surely you can just back up to your existing back up drive. Or did you not actually realise that all hard drives fail at some point.

Put them on a commuter and ride through a few puddles and you can shower on your way to work.

I have one and the back end is so harsh I still keep checking my rear tire because I think I must have a slow puncture.

    Hopefully he’ll say something like:

“I am a drug cheating failure and am withdrawing from cycling for the sake of the sport.”

    Perhaps he’ll then retrain as a brickie, I here there’s a shortage. 🙂

All the ipad 3 owners are going to be walking about with a face like they’ve just discovered their priest has been at the choir boys this morning.

I’ve had a pair of those for about 15 years. Don’t look to be coming to the end of their life anytime soon

My Lusso thermal bib tights are over 20 tears old and are in the same condition as your knee warmers. Still made in the UK last time I looked.

100mm FS frames these days all seem to be either crazy light carbon or jumpy slopestyle. Nobody really makes
a 100mm travel trail FS frame.

Isn’t that sort of what Marin tried to do with the Rift Zone when they re introduced it. I think everyone looked at it and just thought that’s too heavy for a 100mm bike. And of course being a Marin meant no one on here could buy it anyway. 🙂

So if it’s too hard too make the law work please explain your simple system for morality alignment. 🙂

You make the excellent point that morality doesn’t discriminate for scale but many seem to think it does thus showing they have a different morality to you.

A tradesman earning £150/day cash is not in any way morally comparable with a millionaire minimising his tax exposure.

You mean by that your morals of course. Other morals are available, the role of the law in this case is to remove such variable things as morals out of the equation.

No one knows how long it takes because it hurts for so long and fades so slowly that you just realise one day they no longer hurt but you can’t remember when it stopped.

Tax is not a moral issue it is an issue of law. If you don’t break the law you have done nothing wrong. If the laws are not fit for purpose change them.

If I avoid paying tax then I can decide how I spend that money and I can assure you my morals are far superior to this government’s. 🙂

    There’s a nice slidey-dropout frame though…..

And it will take a belt drive.

That’s the one brakes and thank’s for the link seahouse,in stock in Hove as well so I’ll nip out from work tomorrow. My gilet and windproof aren’t trapped so I don’t need to try the allen key option.

This place really is the answer to everything.

You can’t beat a dynamo for commuting. I use one and commute off road but it also works well on the road and despite not being road legal in Germany doesn’t seem to blind anyone.

Go at least a size up. They’re a really narrow fit

This is what I found in both my Shimano SPD shoes but not in my AM 41’s which are wider and have allowed me to go a size lower than my MW 80’s and still have more room for winter socks.

As has been previously agreed, for the purposes of the STW classifieds ‘clearout’ is an absolute, not relative term.

    My apologies Dr Johnson.

I’got a similar setup to your drawing but just with cross pieces to take lengths of timber. It was put up by the previous owner and not as well over engineered as anything I’d put up but it’s got loads up on it and hasn’t fallen down in the 11 years we’ve been here.

I have 3 things and I’m selling them all, that is a clearout.
I have 30 things and I’m selling 15, that is not a clearout.
    I have 300 things I’m selling I’m a fence and I’ll stick to ebay.

I’ve been trying a 29″ wheel in the front of my rigid bike recently that has 440mm RC31 forks. It generally worked well and was definitely more comfortable over the summer to the point where I felt it would have gone nicely with a short travel thudbuster. I’ve gone back to my 26″ wheel for the winter as it has a hub dynamo.I think I prefer the handling in the wet and mud with the 26″ wheel, it seems easier to control when it’s sliding around. I had the 29″ as low as possible with a flat bar and flipped stem and I’m now running the 26″ the same.

I had thought I’d get the 29″ rim rebuilt with the dynamo hub but now I think I’ll keep both as they are and swap them out summer to winter.
