You can’t surf a tsunami. It’s the wrong kind of wave.

I bet awesome surf matt could.

The higher the number of the tube set the better the bike. The lower the number of the bike the better the bike. You see it all makes perfect sense.

Mine are on two external drives at home and my PC at work. Nothing is backed up even if you have a hundred drives if they are in one location.

I have made a home made press with threaded rod but to be honest the rubber mallet seemed better. The park tool doesn’t seem any different really to the home made ones. Actually the HHP-2 looks like it does everything with guides but over a £100 quite an investment.

47, went from rigid to full suss to hardtail to hardtail and rigid and the rigid gets the most use as it’s my off road commuter. All I can say is that rigid today with carbon forks wider tyres handlebars that aren’t made of scaffold pipe and the option of bigger wheels means they are a damn site more comfortable than in in 1986. I no longer feel the need for a Flexstem! I generally only use it for rides of below 2 hours though.

While flat roofs can be done very well if you read the OP’s post it sounds like it is already showing a problem with damp and I’m guessing it’s not a very recent multi million development.

I do hope the injury wasn’t caused by some incompetence such as failing to maintain control of ones bicycle. 🙂

I can only give you advice based on the Attack and Semidry 3/4’s which come up big. I’m a similar waist size to you and the small attacks are adjusted to very close to their tightest. The Semidrys are a little closer fitting but still plenty of room in the smalls.

Minimal investment with minimal risk and big potential.

Cheap strong and light – pick 2. 🙂

For commuting I’d be looking for something that could take full mudguards and a possibly a rack depending on how much you need to carry to work.

I was going to ask whether I should sell my shares to pay off my mortgage then I read this

Do nothing and you could be watching your shares falling in value, your home losing thousands and the government pinching every penny it can out of your pocket

So it looks like I’m stuffed whatever I do, maybe I should just turn it all into bikes which will become very valuable when no one can afford to drive a car.

    I’m intrigued… what’s the other 10%?

Arguing on the internet will push your heart rate and metabolism up enough to account for that. 🙂

I do, rigid with a Rohloff hub at the back and a SON dynamo at the front.
I commute off road so the bike, and me, gets plastered in mud twice a day for 11.9 months a year. It just needs the occasional wipe of the chain and whatever cheap oil is lying around plastered on it.

Is there one press out there that will do all sizes of headset and press fit bottom brackets with the right adapters? If there were I wouldn’t mind investing a bit of money but it does seem to be that you need more and more expensive tools to look after you bike.

And I agree on threaded headsets they were a pain to adjust.

My hardtail struggles to compete with my rigid bike given our current climate.

thing is, if you’re strong enough to lift a Rohloff’ed bike up and hit someone with it you probably won’t get too many people trying to start a fight with you in the first place

I’m 5’6″ and 8 1/2 stone I rely on people being too embarrassed to start a fight with me. 🙂

I’ve thought about it but never actually got round to doing it. The numbers after a bit of use become pretty hard to read anyway so I wouldn’t worry about that. I just have a dab of paint on 7 to give me an idea of where I am.

The people who read that article and decide to avoid such exercise were never going to do it in the first place even if they’d thought they might.

I’ve got a Rohloff – I don’t care how good a boxer you are when i hit you round the head with it you ain’t getting up.

Horses do make a bit of a mess of my commute in the winter but it’s as nothing compared to what the farmer does with his tractors.

My old laptop was crawling along, I tried a few tweaks but what really improved things was removing AVG and replacing it with security essentials.

Maybe look at the geo and understand that he might want a bike with a longer head tube…

    singlespeedstu you are chalky46!

    Edit

I know numbers don’t tell the whole story.

sorry stu my mistake your not him. 🙂

my rigid’s supposed to be a budget build

Just think of the savings over the years on servicing suspension forks – you see it is a budget build after all. 🙂

Dart – no one will want to sleep with you.
Reba – girls will want to sleep with you.
SID – everyone will want to sleep with you.

Personally for me I’d rather have a rigid fork than something like the dart. The rebas are very good though.

They have become more expensive, having kids is like starting to upgrade your bike, it’ll make you happy and leave you broke. 🙂

I do, 32 x 11-32 gets me up everything on the South Downs. No really long climbs but plenty of reasonably steep bits. If I went a 10 speed I’d probably go for a 34 x 11-36 to give a little extra at either end but what I’ve got is good enough until it’s worn out.

    avdave2

but it’s a bit much for the South Downs where I live and especially of late.

I live on the South Downs and my rigid bike is the one that gets used the most. I’d of thought the Rush was the perfect bike to keep but in case you think differently what size is it and how much do you want for it? 🙂

    Fender Bender.
NeoGuard throws crap straight at your fork seals and doesn’t work as well.

    I concur

the really big advantage of the Rohloff is that the indexing is in the hub, not the shifter, and that makes it almost idiot proof (but them idiots are getting craftier every year )

My Rohloff is 7 years old and still running on the original cables which have never been adjusted which means so far I haven’t been able to find out just what class of idiot I am. 🙂

It enjoys a lower tax rate than beer so if you sell it at the same price you make a lot more money.

From your other posts looking for suggestions as to what hardtail to buy am I right in thinking that you have just sat on one of these.

To quote you from a couple of hours ago

i love the look and spec of the carve and sat on one yesterday at birmingham store.

You’ve started 5 posts in the last couple of days 3 of which seem to be promoting the Specialized Carve a bike you don’t appear to have ridden. It all seems a bit odd to me. 🙂

Personally if I needed finance I’d cut my budget from £2000 to £1000 and look at something like a canyon or boardman which you could potentially use as a donor bike in the future.

WIth a BSO, I’d suggest 6 out of 7 is pretty damned good.

It’s just plain showing off is what it is! 🙂

I’ve had a similar experience with one working perfectly in the stand but not when ridden. The solution was as I discovered the realisation that life’s too short.
