Lets be having it blah blah.

The XI’AN web page certainly fills me with confidence. I really was overcome with excitement.

As with most things, its exactly what some are looking for & not for others.

I bet in the flesh that looks the nuts!
Where else can you get a frame like that for that price??

First commute on the Schwalbe CX tyres this morning & seem fine, be at a tad draggy. Will let you know what they are like off road. Stem on the fixie bike is a cheap Ritchey logic number.
Found that bike in a skip, originally a Genesis in gold lacquer. Quite fun building it up. Needs a funky ‘skip’ graphic for the down tube!

Recognise that! About time I resurrect that one, put flat bars on & that’s as far as I got.

Agree but white just looks grub after a few weeks of muddy commutes.

Physio with understanding of bike fit really helped me.
Important to consider that if you, like me, think you know it all because you have been riding since you walked – think again.
Turns out I was riding with my saddle about 30mm too high on both mtb & road bikes!
When you watch back footage of you on the bike it says it all.

I have a medium from the last Lynskey batch. Owned it for about a year now as always wanted to scratch the ti itch.!
It is a beautifully made thing & just looks the biz. More importantly, it rides & handles brilliantly. Definitely the best 26″‘hard tail I’ve ridden, climbs great & is a lot of fun in the twisty bits. Thought my custom steel fillet brazed frame was the one but the soda is just proper in every detail.

Think I find the fact they painted 70 drawing pins black more disturbing.

Again size is key, same height as you & ordered a 56. When I offered it up to my road bike it looked like a gate.
Sent back & got a 54 which was bang on. They are long in the tt. I ran mine as cx, road, city bike, & finally a dad bike with flat bars & cx tyres. By far this was the most fun. I loved the way it rode, you don’t notice the weight & is so comfy.
I only sold it because I got lost in fancy expensive bike land & wish I had kept it as it rode just as well for the money, it’s a bike for life!

Chris king needs a crown race, not sure about the ritchey.
Headset is going in a P29er.
Looking for alternatives to what they recommend on the ritchey site.
Is the ritchey one really that unique??

Love the ‘good trail companion’ recommendations.
As the misses is welsh, I’m now nervous of taking the future family member out for a ride in those sheep ridden hills!

I’ve been riding there for years, before it became a ‘trail’ destination.
I rode the blade last sat & thought it was bloody good, how about a bit of positivity gang.
There was only one 5 min fire road climb & the rest was all singletrack.
For a great convenient 2 hr ride & all it costs is £3 parking, I came away thinking that’s bloody good.
Had my fix & loved it!

    Hi all,
Thanks for all your worthy support & suggestions.
Got an expert in & he found a manhole half way down the garden. When he lifted it, there was my rod end with the brush head – Doh!
Anyway, rods removed & blockage now gone thanks to the experts.
Will approach drains with a lot more caution in the future!

Had real trouble getting a CK race on a steel fork recently with the waste pipe trick, just would go.
Heated the race up on the hob, not for too long, placed it over the steerer & womp, fell straight down over the lip & seated perfectly, I was amazed!

Smatkins1 – tried both the socket trick & an alloy tube I have which sits down nicely on the inner metal ring of the bearing.
Dickbarton – didn’t notice the pitch change but pretty sure they are seated firmly?

Am 38 & been riding bikes since a nipper, have always loved steel but recently put together my first carbon bike in the form of a dirty disco, by far & away the best cross (bloody fast on the road also) bike I have owned.
Well finished, stiff but compliant bit of kit. Now want to try a carbon mtb.
