I am just generalising by using freeride, for my personal needs i starting to gain a fair bit of confidence at tbe local freeride park (kinver and ribbesford) and am now hitting quite a bit of stuff, but i had been doing all this on a hardtail before and especially trying to go fast over roots and and landing it has been pretty rough. I am probably only doing 4 to 5 ft drops at the mo but there is bigger stuff i want to play on and dont feel i can as need to move on a bike.

I really want an Orange bike, specifically the Patriot and i think im best holding out for one as i have ridden one before and love it.
I suppose i was considering the dawg coiler as alternates as they are generally cheaper.

Nice vid! Can definitely see the appeal for a smaller frame over that stuff

I always feel more in control on a smaller bike, noticed with a lot of the freeride Iv been doing the bike seems more in control than me.
So in your opinion,, 16″ would work well for a 6fter ?

So you think 16″ blower, any reason?

800 too expensive for me, need to look at the older models, the freeride im doing is only around 3 to 4ft drops would the older 5 frame handle this, would i see m7ch improvement over the roots and more stability when landing?

Not sure if pressure suit needed at this stage, i have knee pads. The elbow pads and a evoc bike bag with back protector so if i should fall which i do often i bounce around. Evoc bag was great for snowboarding too looked like a ninja turtle but was nice and soft to fall on.

I was trying to get out of going to the store and being refunded over the phone, but doesnt look like thats an option – spke to the contact centre and they say go to the store and they will give it back – il just have to warrant the journey by getting some lights or somet.

I dont mind talking, just dont want to get myself into a situation, where they say “oh ur not having it we will keep the money”. When i called them initially i did explain, that i only wanted a test ride and it was unlikely i was going to have it but they said the bike wasnt in the shop and to get it in you need to put £50 down which is fully refundable.

I was looking at the dahon matrix or the Swissbike paratrooper. They look a bit more like the kind of thing I would ride, my commute generally will be hilly as its not around the major cities.

But really would like the flexibility of the folding bike incase I need the bus or train.

I’m on a budget, looking at a lot of these there quite expensive, is there anything athe lower end of the market that’s passable. I have around £100 to spend, I want to make sure il use it first befor I fork out lots of cash

Fitted the forks yesterday, went out last night for first ride. Massive difference, didn’t expect it to be as much a difference but I would say that the bike for me now is perfect. I was able to hop and pop over various roots, had a lot more control of the bike, better when on the rad and really easy to change. Took it over the freeride park also nd found a lot more control in the air and the bike handles a lot better over the bumps.

Great, il try them at that, there mint only ridden a couple times no rubs, stations perfect. Once my forks arrive il put them on for sale, thanks loads

Thanks one again, really helpful. I more than likely wont touch the steerer, just swap a few spacers around at most. What price do you think I would be able to sell my forks at (reclaim some funds)?

So this is what I plan to do, thanks for the help and guidance

    1. Service brakes
    2. Give chain set another go..
    3. Look to change the forks, as I really think this will benefit overall riding…. (but please jump in if you think or know it will ruin it)

Thanks and that’s good advice. I agree with the fact that you don’t have to have the best to enjoy and be good, but the forks are monstrous lol, and when I lift the bike it’s a good weight. If I change the forks to a lighter pair it will be easier to lift and control for popping and hopping about, but will I lose much of the ride quality? I do think I can make the front end lighter and benefit from it, but don’t want to compromise anything else.

I’m terrible at climbs, got no will power when it comes to hills, I’m getting great feeling about the bike that I have from the feedback I’m getting, I am currently trying to get different forks perhaps air as advised in a previous thread, as the marzocchi are really heavy. Do you agree that a move for rock shox reva or pikes is a good move for this bike?

Yeh that’s my bike, current brakes are shimano not sure of specific model.
