Manitou no good for mine, as my shaft chamber doesn’t have enough thread on it to wind onto a manitou shock, there was loads of play in it. TFT said that I would be just as good going for an air shock

Not that heavy, needed 450lb spring, but hard to find one that fits a 5th element shock

Aparently 2″ was the original size however tft advised to get 2.25, and the manitou I bought was 2.25 500lb,, would you say I need the next one up 2.5??

The strange think is that crc did list the length,, said the coil was for a 200mm shock which mine is 200mm eye to eye.

How do you determine what free length to get ? I bought the shock from crc, they stated when I bought it, it was for a 200mm shock which is my shock length.

Thanks for the link, looks like I’m about right, however my forks are 9mm not 20mm but I wouldn’t of thought that would make a difference.

Llandegla for me, been to quite a few around England, Wales and Scotland. I’m always drawn back to Llandegla, because the complete ride is perfect for me including the one planet adventure burger at the end! Yum!

Northwind, did you manage to find a coil with this weight and stroke, if not il grab one from crc as I want to ideally get my bike sorted for Saturday so I can go riding.

Yeh, i have spoke with TF today, they told me i need a 500lb spring which i can get, but the price of a service on an older shock that i dont know the history of makes me think that a new shock may be better.

Just trying to spend as little money as possible at the mo. But don’t want to fork out money if its no5 worth it

I’m a little concerned when I spoke to tft this morning and they advised that they could replace the seal kit.but wouldn’t be able to.change any.spare parts.

Are these shocks worth servicing or is it worth trying to get hold of a dhx 5

Just rang Santa Cruz and asked, they said they can’t tell by model number they can only clarify it spread over a few years. However, because I have the fifth element shock all he could advise that it was one of the earlier ones.

Ok that makes sense, just read a little deeper into the fork and found out they are spring and air so no negative on them,, only needs a bit of air around 1 bar! Glad I didn’t ride it 8O
