Unless you have a fixed high top roof, pop top doesn’t count, then you have pretty much zero chance of getting it re classified to camper van on the V5.
My transporter (factory combi) is classed as an M1 on the V5, so car speed limits apply. Most newer combi vans are now N1 even with 6 seats.
astormattFree MemberI use dipetane in my old diesel
Comes highly recommended on my VW groups
Dipetane DP001 1 ltr Fuel Additive Treatment for Improve Fuel Economy and Reduced Emissions https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BXK1JBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DWM6PJY6HE10HYXB28HB
astormattFree MemberGet a proper charger installed and do not charge the car via a 13a plug, as has been mentioned.
The 13a charger you get supplied with the car is for emergency use, not a long term solution for charging the car.
astormattFree MemberI like dogs more than people being honest. The only reason i don’t have a dog is the inevitable day where it’s no longer here…and i don’t want to have to face it.
astormattFree MemberMost customers, my mum and wife insist on calling me Matthew as that’s my name but most other trades/friends call me Matt or Matty, being honest, i answer to most things.
Not sure about anyone else but at high school most people were called by their surname which to be fair, kept things simple.
I think my boy might struggle when he starts school as his name might be too long and kids like to shorten names/have nicknames, well they did when i was at school.
His name is Endeavour, his sister calls him Dev, much to my wife’s disgust, that reminds her of the bloke who owns the shop on Coronation Street.
We often get asked what we call him and 99% of the time it’s his full name, we sometimes call him Endo for short but not that regularly.
I think once he starts school the kids will have their own name/nickname for him and that will probably stay with him.
astormattFree MemberI bought mine the start of lockdown (1 pro) as has been mentioned, the motor does sit low and i have walloped it a few times forgetting about it.
Mine is the 500wh model, bit annoyed i wasn’t told about there being the 625 coming out literally weeks after i bought it or else i would have waited.
The only thing i can moan about the bike apart from the low motor is the ‘auto’ function on the motor is annoying….never enough power available, sort of gives you minimum assistance.
Wouldn’t change anything about it spec wise as it’s brilliant
astormattFree MemberHappy to show you around the Malverns as I’m a Malverner.
Drop me a pm if you are interestedastormattFree MemberGot my claim in yesterday, was a few hundred more than what i was expecting so pleased with that.
Obviously for people who aren’t eligible for it, what about the bounce back loan?
No credit checks, no background checks and government backed. Just put in what you want and it’s in your bank in a day or 2.
It’s cheap borrowing and you can pay it back early.
Seen quite a few other sparks almost boasting that they got the maximum (£50k)…can see them in trouble in 12 months time when it’s time to start paying it back as work won’t have picked up to pre Covid levels.astormattFree MemberYes, did well over a dozen ‘stops’ to bed them in before this morning’s ride, nice bite afterwards and the first few descents on the ride they were a bit noisy but no vibration…as the ride progressed, so did the noise/vibration.
Just like on the original pads and rotors.astormattFree MemberScholl S20 is the perfect polish for a newbie as has been pointed out in another post…
Start out with a polishing pad over a cutting pad and get a feel for the machine.
Don’t rush things and don’t get annoyed if you don’t get things perfect first time around. It’s all about practice. You will get some fantastic results with a DA.I personally started off with a DA, but moved on to a mains Rotary and recently bought a new cordless Flex rotary i haven’t used yet.
It could be me, but there seems to be a bit of confusion about Black Hole a few posts up…firstly it’s not a wax and it’s definitely not a standalone product…it’s a pretty heavy filling glaze which will make the car look nice, filling swirls etc for a few weeks until the fillers wash away. It’s ok for a quick fix but you need to put a wax over the top to “lock in” the product.
Remember to decontaminate the van before you start polishing…
My routine is usually
1. Wash
2. Tar remover
3. Rinse
4. Fallout remover
5. Rinse or even better a quick wash
6. Dry
7. Prep (tape up plastic trim etc)
8. Start polishing!
9. Dress exterior trim
11. Wax/Sealant
12. Clean glass etcIf you want to clay the van, you can do that instead of numbers 2+4 but my personal preference is that above…
Just take your time and enjoy it
astormattFree Member@marko…kinda helps. Same bike as you. But you didn’t say how much you weigh…
I did a ride today…16.6 miles, 3,066 ft climbing, 1h 40mins…
Battery full when i started and when i got home it was on 5% battery.
I use eco+ (2 dots) for 90% of my rides with the odd steep climb in sport+ (5 dots)
Weight obviously plays a big part in the range.
astormattFree MemberI’m going with a typo as that makes it only 1.3 kilos less than my Sentry Pro…
They do have some new models being announced/released in the next few weeks according to social media.
I think it’s a great buy now but wondering if the price may drop a little further…
astormattFree MemberIt’s a 500 w/hr battery. I assumed that me having a “good cadence”, so a higher gear (2nd/3rd cog down) is more efficient than stomping on the pedals and having lower rpm?
I am a heavy bugger which i know plays a part in range, but was still expecting moreastormattFree MemberI told you it is probably a stupid question 😂
Today on a full charge i did 11 miles with 2400ft climbing in just over an hour…mostly on eco setting (2 out of 5) and when i got back home, battery was on 29%.
Had thought i would be getting more than what i am…
Perhaps i am being over optimistic on the manufacturer’s estimates…as like i said, a lot of variables.astormattFree MemberI have never expected tips (electrician) but i do appreciate it if a customer gives me a bottle of something.
Would i give another tradesman a tip? Yes, definitely, especially if they have done something at very short notice or got me out of the you know what….
astormattFree MemberI leased my old van through Vanarama, nice and easy to deal with…
I was going to get another van on lease but want to keep outgoings to a minimum so have bought my current van outright…astormattFree MemberI have a pair of Cherry 1460’s and a pair of their Crofton boots that i originally bought for work, but they are too nice to ruin. Easily the most comfortable pairs of footwear i have ever had.
astormattFree MemberNews Update! Openreach have turned up out of the blue, so have had to race home and let them in, luckily only working a few minutes away…
astormattFree MemberThanks @fuzzywuzzy for the link, have forwarded it to the wife…
As it’s in her name they won’t let me speak to them as i am not the account holder…
Another thing is, they don’t count weekends as days without service, only working daysastormattFree MemberWhen the wife spoke to them yesterday she mentioned about compensation or knocking money off the sky bill because we can’t use features such as catch up etc, they said we aren’t entitled to money off as they are a “free service”
We have since found out that the person next door had their broadband cut off the day ours was made live and they have had theirs reinstated and that’s when ours stopped working.
By the way, we are still paying for the broadband, I guess when it/if it finally does start working again they will adjust the bill for the lost time.astormattFree MemberAre you trade or diy? I have the 996 and use the flexvolt batteries in it….it is flipping heavy!
All 18v tools are backwards compatible with the flexvolt batteries, but a 54v tool won’t work if an 18v battery.
What a few people get confused about is the ah of the flexvolt batteries, if it’s a 54v 6ah battery that is actually 2ah in a 54v tool and 6ah in an 18v tool.
The 20v-60v thing is just an American thing, all the batteries and tools are exactly the same as our 18v-54v stuff.astormattFree MemberWhy not do an mtb marathon or 2? I know it costs money but probably places you wouldn’t think to ride and all natural trails.
astormattFree MemberPicked up my Pro earlier this week…was going to go for the lower spec model but when i went in to order it they had a pro in medium on display and as soon as i saw it i wanted it…really hoping it rides as good as it looks!
First trip out will be next weekend and i can’t wait! Also decided to go back to flat pedals after a decade clipped in…only rode it for literally 30 seconds outside the house and came away with a bloody shin after slipping of the pedal trying to hop up the kerb…astormattFree MemberWomen’s Bossnut has narrower bars, everything else is exactly the same as the regular Bossnut
astormattFree MemberShe hasn’t got her own show but Andrea Valls (mum off waffle) trumps Catie, Grace and Maddie….the wife doesn’t agree but if you follow her on instagram, it might change your mind on her….
astormattFree MemberI quite like it, 10% off all calibre bikes until midnight 31st (Saturday) with “10SEP19” makes it even more appealing.
astormattFree MemberIf you are using Halfords, i would definitely be using Autoglym.
Shampoo
Tar Remover
Magma (fallout remover)
Clay
Super Resin Polish
HD WaxDon’t understand the comment above saying SRP is a faff, goes on and buffs off ridiculously easy. Probably applying too much!
Bilt Hamber is a great shout if you are tempted to not use Halfords..https://countydetailingsupplies.co.uk/brand/bilt-hamber/
Use CDS10 code and get 10% off and free delivery over £25.
@stevemuzzy is right, you can spend a lot on products if you get into detailing.astormattFree MemberI can’t make it this year now so i have a Sport and a Marathon entry going….
I have emailed them to ask them if i can transfer the details to another person.
I can let you know when they get back to me?astormattFree MemberI’ll be there, having ridden my bike about 3 times this year so far i am not looking forward to it!
Was going to bail but changed my mind yesterday…astormattFree MemberI love my 2.35 magic mary’s on my full suss BUT i hated my 2.8 Mary’s on my 909….
Tread is spaced too far apart so it would unexpectedly let go quite a lot in wet conditions….
Was expecting the same predictable grip as the 2.35 but it was nowhere near the same.
I think the stock set up is good enough for year round riding to be honestastormattFree MemberLooks rough to be fair, be interesting to see what it will look like when they try and patch it up…..
Talking of magnolia. Will never forget when i was on a job second fixing an extension for a builder who bought a job lot of super cheap magnolia. He was down to paint the extension, the lady came back one day and asked if he could paint the rooms different colours as she hated magnolia.
He promptly told her that she has to have magnolia as it keeps the damp out!
She fell for it and he got the job to decorate the rest of the house in the stuff!
