the driving was poor in both cases, but their behaviour was much worse than any driving error they made

if you get abused regularly on your morning commute – its no wonder cyclists start wearing cameras and posting to youtube etc

reckon its a bit dodgy even selling that bike without a warning that its dangerous to ride and the only value lies in the components

Because they’re lighter, more tolerant of gritty cables, easier to do multiple shifts, easier to shift without changing grip etc etc.

OK, I’m not convinced by that – but it doesn’t matter what I think and I understand why you want the dropper post control

but why would you want to use gripshift with that – it just isn’t as good a system as the shimano trigger levers – I have done both and have worn my hands out with gripshift in muddy conditions

Currently riding with the Alp X 2 – seems v good on and off road – fits well and doesn’t flap in the wind, fully waterproof, packs down small (~350 grams), has a hood that can be worn under the helmet, has an extending tail – all good:-)

Is the Tawr trail (the old Red Bull Trail) much harder than the Beast?
The Tawr is much shorter and less technical. Bit disappointing IMHO.

wow – I’m surprised – I’ll will give it a go next time I’m there

yes last week there was all sorts of made up advice given out (by that I mean stuff which is just speculation with no real research base or evidence)

I rode the Beast recently on a fully rigid bike (not bragging) and found the rocky, man-made bits were on/just over my limit (actually probably do-able with a bit more confidence). Is that surprising? Is this where suspension becomes needed / much more fun?

Good article of the radio this morning indicating that transmission of the disease is mainly by movement of trees (which is now banned). It can also be carried in leaves but not mud – so, no pressing need to wash mud off boots, bikes or tyres. Just avoid transporting leaves from place to place – not too difficult

GP4 seasons are tight but I can get them on my Shimano wheel set OK – you will need tyre levers but only takes a minute

So would 105 9-speed shifters and cassette work properly with an Ultegra 10- speed rear mech?

well you would think so, but I just replaced some old Conti GP4000 (@100psi) on my Alu Cannondale (which is as rigid as a very rigid thing indeed) with some brand new Conti 4 Seasons (@110psi) and the ride with the new tyres is amazingingly smooth by contrast – just my 2p worth, dont know what others tthink

not to say I wouldn’t also like a carbon Cannondale like yours

I dont use them for following on the day (the signing is good at CYB (should carry a proprer map anyway)) but for keeping a record afterwards (my phone is too slow to rely on in the field

but the carbon absorbs a lot more shock than the alu

maybe, but the feel of an Alu bike can depend a lot on the tyres you put on it. Tyres can make the difference between a very harsh ride and a much smoother, compliant feel

Thule every time over Halfords. Halfords stuff is probably cheaper but is poor from a design and use point of view and you will regret saving a few quid for a long time if you gO for the Halfords stuff. I once bought the worst designed most awful bike rack known to man from Halfords. Don’t do it

coffeking is right it happens to male cyclists as well, and its not personal in so much as they are out to get you as an individual – they just lose the plot and then the cyclist is the target whoever it is

Like some others on here once I get attached to a bike Itend to keep it. I’m currently riding a Cannondale M900 from 1996, and am now into a round of admiring/quizzical ‘wow look at that retro bike’ looks, which is fun. Have ridden that bike in at least five different countries:-)

I have ridden OK with one broken spoke a few times, but I did whimp out when three let go by pulling out of the rear hub
