Cut the post short and downwards length ways as far as I could, when I try and bend the post inwards bits just snap off. Now left with not much post showing and its stuck tight. All my other shimano brakes have been faultless with minimum care and attention.

My lad loves it, as above I’ve ended up playing it too on my phone. Its lego but better.

Bearings are good, bike only 8/9 months old, brakes a fair bit older though

No oil on the tissue, cleaned everything in sight and new pads and its exactly the same…… arse.
One thing, could an obvious cause be using a hayes rotor with an xt caliper ?

Embarrassing indeed… I’ll give it one more thorough clean and sandpaper the pads then give up and get a new one… thanks for the replies.

Might the caliper have a leak ?
Lesson learnt about removing the pads. Its just I stuck new ones straight in, from an unused set of slx brakes. Within a few hundred yards they were the same, the disk had been cleaned as well as I could.

They looked clean but I swapped for new just in case. Didn’t try the sandpaper etc for that reason. I’ve only recently braved fettling with hydro brakes, do new pads always need bedding in ? I’ll give the sandpaper a try.

Right, tried the hacksaw method with no joy. When I try to bend the post in on itself it just snaps small pieces off.

Its been sat for days with coke in the seat tube and is not budged at all.

So… Where would one buy caustic soda ?

I’m at the point where its the soda or hacksaw method, nothing else has worked.

Just wondering if anyone has done the hacksaw way. How far down do I cut the slit?

Just got back, two ace days riding and an afternoon fishing on the reseroir. Camping was lovely apart from someone shooting last night around 3am ?? Made me jump out my sleeping bag….

Taking my lad and his mate camping and riding up in the hills. They have both asked to go fishing, would be good if they actually caught something. Was thinking there must be somewhere we could grab a few hours fishing without much hassle.

I’ll probably have no chance of catching much up on the reseroir. Those organised placed with a nice stocked up lake/pong would be good. Somewhere on the way would do, coming in/out from the M4.

I’ve seen the start of red on the way round the blue, not sure how far round though.

Been twice now, very chuffed with it. I know its nothing ground breaking but living 15 mins away its nice to have something so close.
First time I went with my 10 yr old son, he had a great time rolling the blue run, I went today on my own and really enjoyed it.

Got there about 9am, whilst it was busy I had a clear run pretty much all the way.
