I went left at the lights as described above, then first left and there is a long stretch not overlooked by houses with no parking signs etc. All good

Second the Cannondale Trail 29ss, I use mine more than any other bike. Light quick and surprisingly comfy.

Also loved my Soloist but that’s just a frame hanging on the shed wall now….

Ah man it’s good to be riding something other than local lanes again, wonderful evening on the red and blue.

Thanks to the very kind chap who helped me out with two canisters after a pinch flat (I know, tubeless etc) On a Scott FS, you’re a gent. I should remember to check the new pump I brought actually works before setting off !

    Hello
Going to Swinley this eve for the first time since lock down.

Kinda local (near Hook) and as above, planning on parking in the housing estate, left at the lights.

How busy has blue and red been ? All open ?

Tempting as going out for another ride is…really should mow the lawn. Stumped by this, it starts ok,  idles forever. As soon as you release the break after putting it in gear it cuts out. Would a problem with the carb cause that ?

Gave up and took the singlespeed out instead.  Dodgy switch?

Just ran cold water over mine for ages and its sorted it. It had been left in the back of my car all morning so was very warm.

Took is apart as much as was possible, re-greased and cleaned everything and its working !!!!!!

So chuffed, god knows why it has seized but running fine now.

    Thanks for all the advice..

    Right….

Engine cover off, nut undone and pulley assembly now sat on my lap.

Excuse my ignorance but I appear to have the pulley and above that is a disk which moves up and down, its being pushed against two parts which appear to be like brake pads. If I push this disk down the pulley spins freely. Is this a clutch or sutin ?

There is a lead which goes into this assembly, Would I be right in thinking the mechanism to push the disk to allow the pulley to spin is probably what’s not working ?

Yes they are fine. With the belt taken of it still stalls the engine when you engage it

When I try to undo the nut holding the drive pulley on, the pulley stays still and the bit above spins and in turn spins the belt driving the rear wheels. So I can’t loosen it ?

    ashmonkey

Yep, straight from underneath the engine. Pondering taking it apart to see what’s going on. There’s no play at all

Its the drive pulley. It doesn’t move when engaged. When I turn it by hand it feels very stiff, squeaks too.
Its odd as when the belt first came off it wasn’t stalling, just no blades spinning and you could hear the drive pulley spinning. As if the belt had come loose or snapped but now its stalling ?

    So..
Finally got some time to take another look.
The belt had only come off all the pulleys, no sign of damage, belt looks fine. Refitted it, now the mower stalls when you engage the blades and they don’t turn. You can pull it round by hand, drive pulley feels a little stiff but turns Ok.

About to take the belt off and see if the drive pulley spins when engaged.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks for the replies.
Its just about possible to lift it onto its side but wont that stuff the engine ? One website recommended draining all the oil and fuel first ?? Seems a bit much.
I’m down Hampshire way. I’d rather not spend too much, just glad it failed on the last few feet so I have a week or two before the grass grows enough to tickle where it shouldn’t
I’ll have another look on the weekend. Determined to fix it myself, cant be that tricky.

I was not sure about turning it on its side. Worried about oil or fuel getting somewhere it shouldn’t be. Is it an issue ?

I passed a google streetview car the other day on the M4, hung around near it for a few miles hoping to get in a piccy, Any idea how long they take to upload them ?

I was wondering about an old Marin alu frame I have sitting in the shed. Its cracked on the headtube so no good to me, Would it be worth a trip down the scrap yard ? Also have three halfords specials rusting away in the garden, Cant be worth much can they ?

    About an acre(ish)
The track runs around the edge with a bit of zig zagging. Then there is a bit of overgrown land out the front which I should be OK to ride on, probably another acre. Its all over grown with bramble but I’ve started clearing a path through it. The problem with that area is the soil is all very loamy, leaf-mould, its almost springy so I’ll need to get something down on it.

Keep trying to figure a way to ride over the shed roof (there an old car port thing next to it about 4 foot high) :o)

This will be mainly using a shoestring and elbow grease so I wont be getting anyone in.
I was thinking the grass would die back on the track and end up firm compacted dirt. At the moment you just dont roll well enough.

I’ve an oak come down last year and have saved all the big logs, should be able to make something creative for the north shore bits.

I think I’ll need to start making a “pond” somewhere else to get more soil as the amount you need is amazing.

A helping hand is always welcome, its bloody hard work 😯

I’m on my forth. Never been contacted after each years worth of payments. I just wait till the last of the payments go then apply for another. ie last years final payment went out in June, completed my forth application by the end of July…

Same here, on XTs and SLX. Tried everything, ended up replacing them both. Seems to be common with Shimano when they have been sat unused for a while, sleals go.

Having spent too long in IT I packed it in and have worked in the domestic violence field for the past 4 years, both with perpetrators and victims. 95% grim but the rewarding bits are priceless.

I gave up with hair yesterday. Grade one all over. I do look a little like I’m being admitted to a ward for my own safety but its nice not having hair anymore. There comes a time when its that thin you just gotta give up on it.
