+ 1 for JF’s book particularly regarding nutrition.

I ride with some TT’ers much older than me (I’m 56) and much stronger. So old age is less of a limiter with greater understanding of your bodies needs and tolerance to exercise. I’ve become more risk averse and ride less mtb and more roadie stuff. Much bigger now on nutritional requirements for the old(er) body too pre/during/after exercise.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time around that way. I’d agree with comments above Ty-Nant is a bike carry mostly and I’ve walked up Pony but I’ve not biked up.

I reckon if you’re happy to push/carry at times there’s a doable route from Dol up to Cregennen. There’s a path that runs parallel with road, I’ve ridden parts the other way. It starts at a pretty steep grassy bank off a lane then it’s okay dropping you down to YH. You’re back up again then to the lakes.
I’ve never done that route but would be tempted 🙂 down the ramp then to Mawwdach trail.

    Lovely part of the world!

nice flat route with beautiful views…sounds ideal.
Pub stop overlooking old toll bridge on way back to Dol (possibly way out too 😉 )

A mate of mine took a XL Giant Roadie out to Mallorca in March.
He used a Bikeboxalan with no problems. We flew from EMA, 2 bikes fell off the transporter from terminal to plane, 1 being mine (same box type) and again handlers watched bike (bag) drop off conveyor on return flight. I definitely wouldn’t use a bag or cardboard box seeing the lack of care by handlers.

I try (not always successful) to eat whole foods around workouts. Training Peaks have some good articles worth catching up on. Luckily I can get my sessions done before 7 though, but if it was a late one I’d prepare a smoothie using Banana, 50/50 Milk & water, handful of frozen Blackcurrants, honey, peanut butter and a bit of whey protein.

Those P-650’s are designed around 100mm travel I’ve just checked…so more xc. Lovely looking frame though

I’ve stopped using mytraining app (elite) I use garmin connect/training peaks.
the speed records ok(ish) under load but flies up to stupid mph during easy intervals. I’ll do the 12 click thing again and reset sensor

I’m really new to this “training” but having bought a PM i’m taking advice 🙂
When teamslug talks of getting plenty of miles outside, for me the difference between a 3Hr fasted Endurance ride and similar Recovery pace is huge. I’ve massive respect for commuters but as mentioned previously traffic, lights etc greatly impacts on zones. I haven’t Zwift or TR for the indoor stuff but have a Muin and a dated dvd library (Monday’s Blockbuster.. Last Samurai 2/3 parts).
Yesterday 2:20hrs in that filthy rain, as I said great respect for commuters.
    Enjoying this thread btw

Really Looking forward to mine arriving, most parts in place ready to build.

I’d pencilled this for a Spring 2015 build so at this point I’m quite relaxed. I’m lucky to have a couple of bike options in the meantime though, but can understand backers frustrations. I agree with the idea of a real world warts an all monthly update. I’m sure it will be more than worth the wait 🙂 feeling excited

We rode from Jandia past the harbour at Moro Jable. Along the track towards Costa Calma there is some Singletrack that follows the coast, Iirc the locals call it Wunderland (with a V )it’s well marked by rocks.
After a good few miles pick up the road that takes you to the Nazi Villa (over a ridge) Now the fun bit…it looks like its a steepish cliff, but it’s ridable by bike by following a goat path. The wiki link that was posted earlier is that climb. Great descent all singletrack back to coastal road, again there is more st to the left of the road. 50km all in and a top day.
Sorry to go on a bit 😀

Go to a good independant bed retailer, ask friends and relatives for their recommendations. I own one, so I’m slightly biased . I buy from the company that manufactures Jl and Next own brand Mattresses. Some Pocket Mattresses are unsuitable for slatted bases btw that’s something a decent retailer will advise you on,

The Crimea is home to the Russian Black Sea fleet…so I’m guessing they’ll have a Noooklier hoard. A period of stability might be what’s needed.Did I hear on the BBC that one of the protagonists is called Fukov or similar?

That CR recommendation is just plain cruel after the recent rainfall Eamonn, Unless you’re saying just ride to the pubs…in which case I like it!

HD trailstar up front Mud X out back. HD tubeless and about 18ish psi. Not falling off quite as much 😉
Wouldn’t run with Mud X up front where it polished marbles or rooty.

Sight transfer of body weight/position when I ride rigid, It’ll lighten the front end allowing looser grip.
Plus thicker grips. That’ll be 2p please

I’ve some bonty team 0, silly light 400(ish) g. I’ll never use them £25 for the 2 inc p&p really as new. Let me know if you want pics. I think they’re designed for racing.

I can echo what the other participants have said, expensive but thought it was value for money. Tough climbs but eh those views were worth it.
Schnor I did ask if you’d still be there cheering on my return…credit, you were. Have to say good crowd riding too, not too many prima donna types 😉

How confident are you that you’ve got the cleat position right?

Pretty much… set it up on the turbo and then made adjustments.
Im thinking I must have a fair bit of movement in the right leg action. 😆

No expert, but I have a mate (43) who regulary hits north of 200bpm. On a recent 4hr ride his ave was 175bpm with a max of 220! Check out flamme rouge website, he talks in reasonable detail about high bpm.
I personally would be concerned but as been said before we’re all made up different.

Why would you go to Cannock when there’s much better riding close by?
Peaks, Wales, FOD, Shropshire, etc. I agree with OP, tick then move on to better stuff. It always rains there and the locals can be really grumpy 🙁

OP bizarre q for you, is your name written on the tarmac tdf style not too far from Mach? It is early and I know I need to add more water but..

Delivered on time with decent comms. It was the middle of last year, OP’s experience not acceptable though.

Avoid. No integrity, they cost me an extra £100 due to their incompetence. Things sometimes go wrong, it’s what you do to resolve them that defines a company. Big Fail! My emails ignored, kept it brief 🙁

Use the paths (3) to cross the Golf Course at Aberdovey.
Take what you need for the day tho.
Beautiful beach, dunes for shelter if windy (likely) big kitesurf area.
Being going down that way for years and best beach in the area IMO.
Watch for wayward golf balls when crossing 😉
