Thanks for all of the replies, very helpful. Can anyone recommend me an electric car. Budget 12k max. Recently retired and pootle about the SW -Dorset, Wilts, Somerset but would like to explore more of the UK car camping with a bike in the car. In the past 3 months my longest journey has been a 150 mile roundtrip.

Why is the Zoe or Leaf not recommended? Is the range too low? Older tech? Other issues?

Hi we run a small quiet site between Limoges and Perigueux https://www.bellessise.com.
For other small sites try https://rural-camping.com/france/index.htm.
Also there’s http://www.kamperen-bij-de-boer.com/boerencamping-frankrijk.html For Farm camping it’s in Dutch but the links are often available in English.
    Have a great time.

We have a campsite http://www.bellessise.com However we are not in the Massif Central but could be be on your route there. We are an hour south of Limoges. Only 3 pitches,2 cabins, quiet, home grown fruit and veg for sale and regularly available cookies, cakes, fruit pies etc. If you’re interested drop us an email and we can give you more info on the area between here and the Massif.
If you are looking for small sites then Rural Camping in France is good for finding somehwere. Have a good trip.

If you are looking for somewhere to chill and relax we run http://www.bellessise.com in NE Dordogne which is a small campsite with only 3 pitches in 29 hectares, a natural site, quiet and peaceful. We also have 2 handbuilt wooden cabins. Convenient stopping off site en route to the Pyrenees or Spain. Good local off road and very quiet road riding. Or you can crawl out of your tent and a have a quick 2km blast around Bellessise, before coffee and croissants. We’re located alongside the route Dans La Roue de Lawrence D’Arabie “In the wheels of Lawrence of Arabia.” In 1908 Lawrence of Arabia made a cycle tour of this region of France following partly the route of Richard the Lionheart.

Hi try campsite at Col de Portet d’Aspet – Camping Les Asphodèles -we’ve camped there a few times, never been packed, away from the crowds, laid back, fantastic wooded valleys. Then on the drive back to UK you could break your journey  at our place http://www.bellessise.fr

If you want to get away from it all, quiet roads, French markets, walks, chateaux etc, try this. We built this cabin, in Singletrack style using our own trees. Pomme de Pin at http://www.bellessise.fr/cabin .

Ryan Air (others are available) fly into Limoges, cheap car hire from airport. I can’t post photos but there are more pics on that Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bellessise/ and Airbnb –Pomme de Pin Airbnb
