Hmm, just looking at a sc butcher there, might be another option…

Hmm, wondering if the quoted low BB height might be exaggerated by sag, on paper it looks ok. I do get pedal strikes a fair bit on the bandit, particularly during technical climbs. It’s something hat takes getting used to, but is worth it when pointed down

interesting that, though it’s more a gravity bias I’m after, have a transition bandit which I can’t fault as a trail bike, so this is more more for gravity enduros and the like

    it’s a hard call really…

seems the E.G. BB is < 4mm (its 13.6 inches based on 160mm fork) lower than the covert.
it’s higher than the transition bandit I’m riding, which is 13.2, – so I don’t see the fuss. as I say, it’s a feature if anything, modern gravity bikes are all going this way

Bearings look reasonably sized to me in fairness

Hmm, people often say the crapping dog thing about SC nomads too. The EG is very similar shaped to the nomad, and having owned a mk 1 nomad they def look better in the flesh than on paper. Personally, I actually like the way the EG looks and think the covert looks a tad boring
The low BB is a feature to me, have a bandit which is along the same lines. I read about the low bb thing, and it’s a feature of modern gravity oriented bikes, and just takes a little getting used to.
EG is def lighter than the covert too.

Problem for me, is not getting to see one in the flesh alright

Had a few beers but its more to do with the iPad keyboard :)!
    I think…
Edit, sorry just copped you were referring to the beer to make the 13 covert look prettier :D

    This might be a longshot,
    – I was getting awful noises when doing some drops, – anything over a foot. Took me bloody ages to figure it out. Turned out I had the saddle low and back, and it was rubbing volently off the back tyre when I landed a drop or jump, making a load, strange bang noise. Adjusted the saddle and sorted.
As I say a longshot, – but you never know…

Thanks, I’ll give it a try

+1 one for the MG1s (Wellgo).
If you are after the lightest you can get without spending totally stupid money, they’re the ones.
Got them on ebay with Ti bolts for 50 odd quid. very very light, – barely 300g for the pair. Bearings seem to be holding up pretty well after a year

I’ve tried (with the bolt completely removed) to force the 2 sides of the clamp with a screwdriver to no avail.
It might need more leverage though, – maybe i’ll try putting the saddle back on, – putting the seatpost back into the frame and twisting the saddle.
Not sure I like all this though, given that its a pricey carbon seatpost!

    Oh dear!
I’m starting to not like this i-beam contraption very quickly.
I’ve pulled the saddle out already but might be able to work it back in.

Is this normal that the clamp gets stuck/seized like this? seemslike a royal pain in the a**se.

Thanks rickon, that clears up a lot.

If the rears are set up for 185mm, can you just use a 160mm rotor instead if you want?

Thinking about buying a set that are 185 rear and 160 front, would like to swap them around.
Think is I think they are also IS mount so I'd be looking at a post mount adapter for my fox floats.

So not sure how it would work to turn a front from IS 160 to Post 185?

Can the front 160mm rotor just be moved to the back then (which is IS 185 mm mount)?

    Sorry, I'm easily confused.

:-)Great, thanks nuke, That's basically what I wanted to hear :-)

Do you have the full range of gears with it?

Well, I wouldn't really plan to, but to be honest I'm not always conscious of that cogs I'm in.
Chain being slack and/or dropping I could live with as long as nothing gets smashed.

    Yes, pretty much,
So the calculation is (Front Biggest – Front Smallest) + (Cassette Biggest – Cassette Smallest)

Hmmm, thanks guys, this is more or less consistent with what I'm hearing on the Stiffee, – sounds like a cracking bike but I seem to be a bit between sizes on it.
It's mostly xc with a bit of jumps I'm after, sounds like a Medium would suit best.
The chameleon's looking like the safest option, if only because I've had the chance to give it a try and it seems to fit like a glove, – worth a lot in itself I think.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
