So Ive had a look at a few options, the bike nook keeps popping up but most demo photos of it are using road bikes and kids bikes. From what I have seen my magic mary tyre would be to fat for the nook stand to hold it securely. Also with my fives winter setup its a hefty weight and I question how it would fair with the weight .

    I shall keep looking…

    Well there’s this

Jesus Christ what the actual F? Is my eyes deceiving me,how the hell is that price remotely justifiable. Does it come with a bag of diamond’s ? Then again i imagine its cheap for some roadys, they probably send that on bar wrap.

Good point I’m actually looking for one as I’ve got a perfectly fine floor pump. I might invest in the topeak one if I can find one cheap enough

Thanks all, I’ve went to buy one but have noticed that on the rockguardz model selector it has orange five (up to 2016) my bike being 2016), however the bike on the picture is the old style five and mine is the newer mk 2 orange five. Presumably that’s still correct?

Thought id just mention as the thread is open so

My HB.160 is Invisiframed with a Rockguardz over the top. Came in handy at Glentress. Don’t know whether the Hope carbon would have been damaged in the same way, but glad I didn’t have to find out.

Okay I’m deffo buying one, that photo should be used as a advertisement for rockguardz. Btw that is one sweet bike id love to try one.

Thanks all, is their any particular tape you use underneath the guard? Or what about foam underneath the guard? I’ve heard a lot of people say to use foam? Think I’ll order one tho.

    Yep.

Interestingly I did buy an oculus rift VR headset for the pc, they had a 30 day returns and tbh I was expecting it wouldn’t work as I can’t see 3d films and drum roll….

It’s great and it works ,it seems to give enough mental stimulation that my brain starts using the other eye.

I haven’t looked into using it for treatment thou.

If you get any evidence of it actually improving your bad eye like maybe at a next check up please let me know. I’d buy one tomorrow in that case.

I know theirs a selection of specialist software available for the occulas designed for ambiopia.

To be honest I only realise that I have the condition when I read an article or post about it and then think “ah, my vision is wonky in one eye”. I’ve never actively sought out adult treatment because I had heard that it is a brain disorder that can’t be treated later in life so I’d be interested in any articles you’ve found

    Article Y

    Article X

    Article Z

    Flicker Glasses
    Apparently genuine approved treatment

Still not sure how true this is but will need to see, any of you fellow ambiopia’s with more money than me Wana let me know 😁

I have it with bad eyesight and at 26 my eye sight is only going to get worse so I’m hopeful.

Lots of new stuff for it and coursers but untill I hear of actual people benefiting from it I won’t try.

Apparently it’s proven that it can be improved according to various studies but mainstream opticians and health services will simply not acknowledge it yet.

They are unsure how much it can be improved tho. Will need to see for now I’m definitely keeping hold of my money

Like you, I got it as a kid, never knew anything was wrong untill eye checkups in later years. Now unfortunately it may have deep effect’s later in life considering how my eye sight has deteriated quite rapidly in the last ten years.

Will just nee dto keep an eye on it (see what I did there) 😁

I have given the XT’s a quick ride and the are definitely an improvement on the saints, time will tell how durable they are.

They should hold up great being Shimano,:)

Thanks for reply, after careful consideration I went with the Crank Bros stamp 7 but was very close between them deity Tmacs. I do love Shimano I just felt the reviews of the Crank Bros were excellent for my style of riding. Thanks all

They come with the bashguard/chain device, not the frame. What are you trying to mount?

I’ve got a one up chain device not installed it yet but the bolt looks a little longer than I expected lol.

Maybe it will work I’ll see when I get round to fitting it

    applesandoranges23

Ah bloody hope cranks….. Just put up a post on the other thread about this. I fitted mine on a new frame yesterday and even after I’ve done it 4 times now it’s still a massive faff. I can only move the adjustment ring about half a turn before it’s locked against the crank arm but at least there’s no play…. Just such a load of work compared to shimano and I can’t say I’ve noticed any benefits… actually had to fettle a fair bit more than with Shimano ones

Ah so theirs clearly some design faults going on with curtain Evo crank sizes. I’m done with hope, will use their hubs but that’s the only thing I’ll buy from them in the future. Really p****d me off and I returned the crank not long after my last comment on this thread waiting for refund

Ive also ditched the hope BB also which tbh I wasn’t impressed with especially for the money.

From now on I’m sticking to shim, never failed me and I should of just kept with it but lesson learnt.

It did! Then as long as you have the right spacers for your shell width it should work.

Yup it should do but unfortunately does not. Oh well it’s getting returned for a XT crank I don’t know if this a issue with my particular crank or what.

But I won’t trust it now lol, thanks for your help mate.

    applesandoranges23

No – the crank axle. You need 133.5mm for a 68mm BB or 133.5/142.5mm for 73mm BB. Top 2 lines of

I’m not entirely sure but the crank I got is a 68/73 so presumably that’s correct for a 73 shell? Still not convinced that answed your question lol

As you said, using a hex key you wont be anywhere near the recommended torque.Use a long bar and give it some welly after you slacken off the pre-load thingy.
I recently stuck a raceface crank on my hardtail.I pinched it up with an allen then went for a spin around the block to check all was ok.When i used a long torque wrench to finish the job i was suprised how far the bolt kept tightening,so much in fact a stopped and borrowed my brothers as i thought my rarely used on was knackered.
Hope it turns out ok after lashing out Hope crank money.

Thanks mate I’ll give that a go.

Also, what axle length are you using.

    My axel is 142 x 12

Yeah I’ve just installed a hope Headset to be honest it does seem pretty dam sturdy and smooth so I’ll need to see how it holds up.

I had this on mine, I never found a solution

shite is all I can say

I could get them tight in the workstand, then after a few days there would be play side to side – hope had no answers and were pretty useless

had no idea why, I banged on some sram dub cranks and play gone

I’ve really really gone off hope stuff over the last few years, headset bearings are shite, bottom bracket bearings are shite and don’t last, very disappointed with them.

and FWIW I had my lbs setup, I double checked the spacer and needed 1 drive side, which they had done also so all setup correctly.

I agree and I’m regretting buying the bloody thing. Theirs something clearly not right I’ve followed the instructions to the absalouute dot and it’s still moving from side to side.

I’d not expect this with a £200+ crank, I’m debating weather to not even bother taking it to my lbs and get it fitted because I’m having doubts if it will last.

I don’t know if we have been unlucky because I can’t seem to find others with this issue so. I have just installed a hope headset so I’ll need to see how that holds.

I could still simply put all three spacers on the crankset and get it working but with how crap hopes bearing spacers are I doubt they’d stand a sandwiching of 50nm for long. Fair enough if it was a cheap crankset but it’s far from it.

Hmm decions, I simply can’t figure out what’s causing it other than bad fitting design of the sizing.

Maybe their called hope because we need to hope it bloody works!

What yinman said. Look at the link below to makes sure you are using the correct arrangement of spacers for your bb width.

    https://www.hopetech.com/_repository/1/documents/2019EVOCranksBBCompatibility_ISS03_11.2019.pdf

Actually from the Evo,hope compatibility guide you sent it does state that my bike should only have one spacer on the ds which is how it was already setup from the bb instructions (73mm).

    Hmm it’s baffling lol

    applesandoranges23
    Free Member

Thanks guys, I really don’t understand why hope cannot simply state in the instructions – something like – if fitting your BB with a Evo crank please check our Evo hope BB compatibility chart. As the instructions that came with my hope BB stated only 1 spacer!

I’ve noticed similar scenarios with other hope products also.

Since I started this thread I may as well ask – is their away of getting a good estimate of 40 – 50 nm just using the 10ml hex bolt? My torquey only goes to 24 and with me only having one alloy bike I don’t really fancy splashing out on a BB torque tool.

Thanks single track to the rescue again.

You have adjusted the non-driveside preload ring to take up the slack?

Yeah, I’m really not sure what’s going on lol. It’s just moving side to side and I can’t seem to figure out why.ive installed countless cranks and never had this issuebut this is my first hope one.

When I start to tighten the centre 10ml bolt the crank it’s actually tight with no play, but when I tighten it so far it becomes loose again. I’m only using a allen hex and I’m definitely not near the 50 nm hope suggests.

Ah will probably just take it to the lbs tomorrow and see if they can sort it.

Thanks guys, I’ve actually took my bike to get the headset cups out using Cheshire cycles that 100mph recommended.

Main reason behind it was due to the fact I work literally around the corner so was easy for me and they seem a great shop. I’d be happy using any of the recommendations as all great reviews

    Thanks All!

Sorted thanks and try not to laugh to much , I’ve been on an hour trying to get a shock out whilst the bolt is still in 😁😁😁😁😁. Get me the gun !

Possibly an insultingly obvious question but have you tapped out the axle/pivot that the bolts screw into each end of? That photo looks to me like it’s still in.

Lmao I’m an idiot , it was that I didn’t even think it was a bolt! If it makes me look any less simple it’s the first time I’ve done it 🙁

    Lil , thanks mate
