Anyone know where the design of said steel frame building can be found? If its just some crappy portal frame corrugated clad thing or a shipping container then mr. Dewhirst has a point.

No Gordon in the family but they do know Alec and Roberta! Aparantly my Grandas sister and husband Audrey and Roger (cant remember 2nd name) who lived over towards Kirkwhelpinton knew them well. I imagine we could probably continue this with plenty of people who knows who as everyone knows everyone in the farming community especially from a generation or two back!

Drac, what are the chances… when did they live there? what are their names, ill ask… my granda was a shepherd in Northumberland for 50 yrs, Derek Charlton. There was an old couple that lived next door to them when they lived at Coatwalls but they were the fella who owned the farm and lived at Elilaw (Peter Stott)’s parents.

Drac – My parents live Hexham way and they told me it was absolutely hoyin it doon today, thunder and lightning and everything!!! so you are lucky you didnt get any of that! Grandparents used to live up at netherton at bottom of Coquetdale on a farm called Coatwalls (part of the larger Elilaw farm) if you have ever been past it. They also used to farm at Middle Morr (South Charlton), Greensidehill (Ingram valley) and at a farm in Holystone. Shame they retired before I properly got into MTB and they now live Brownieside.

Make sure you stick with playing football of some sort… training feels crap when you hardly ever kick a ball. the one touch football is great training. some smaller 5-aside games at the end on a small pitch also maybe?

Not Kindle but i ordered some headphones from Amazon, they never turned up, i called them explained they didnt arrive they refunded me straight away. Hardly any questions asked, I mean for all they know they might have arrived and i was lying but they were very quick to offer the refund, so like yourself im certainly happy to use amazon again and promote their services.

oh and motorman, is your photo of oldshoremore beach?

Monk – that sounds about rihght for us!

Motorman – that is the plan, exactly. The reason i ask about routes first is that often you see a route on a map in scotland and it looks decent but often its totally unrideable! just dont want to go all that way and waste a day chugging our way across an unrideable track which is what happened last time riding across from Stracanaird (just north of Ullapool) along the coast to Achiltibuie.. goes off to check out your trip report!

    How about…

1 – Patterdale, over top into Boredale, and then back along the lakeside, or you can double that distance and go along to Pooley Bridge, up the hill a bit and back along the bridleway that brings you to Howtown.

2 – Keswick, go up aroud Lonscale Fell and back along Blencathra side, or maybe that is included in the Borrowdale Bash?

3 – Walna Scar road loop? or is that too high, or actually have they resurfaced the south side of that now too?

I do have a gps, i have downloaded a few gpx/kml files and overlaid them myself on that wheresthepath site, then im able to jpg the images from the os map.

If you are able to do that yourself in an easier way then feel free it would be appreciated, but dont go our your way to do it dude!

    bruneep I bloomin love you!

Now secondly… with these sites like the one you sent me and the bikely you are able to download GPX or KML files of the route and are able to overlay these onto google earth etc. Now is it possible to do something similar onto a website or program that has OS maps on it? Hope that makes sense. Preferably something that is free and if it works on Mac thats even more of a bonus!

I see, generally its assess the situation… I have always gone with the assume everyone can make a stupid move and be aware. I ride with quite a bit of caution and realise there are a lot of people who ride with a lot of confidence here in London, just moved here last week and it definitly seems crazy compared to anywhere else ive ridden!

XCGB – macs have a whole load of pdf options built in to the operating system, you can do quite a bit without needing any apps.

surely even if you are not connected to a printer you can still print to pdf as you’re not actually printing anything physically?
