I went last year and had a LOT of fun, I just went down from london on my own and ended up tagging along with a few lads. That is the great thing with enduro’s theres plenty of time to chat to people when you are faffing about waiting to start a stage or going uphill.

Was perfect weather so that probably made it even better, the stages were great in my opinion! Good mix with a few with some up hill sections in of course.

Yeah total balls up on the timing so nobody knew who won and it was the same the year before apparently so if you are going to race I wouldn’t hope for much.

Would definitely rate it non the less!

I agree I have never noticed any difference between the different settings… Load of BS if you ask me, There are three setting positions and mine has never sat in 3, only 2 different positions (even from new) so who knows?!

I would suggest having a go on the jump park where the 4X track is, its good fun, maybe a good point to park? The descent from above there called the graveyard is decent and the bit after is called final zigzag decent is good also we did ‘The Wall’ route and a lot of the rest I was not so impressed by.

Cant tell you much about the stuff at the north end though I am afraid

Mu – Nice, quite far north indeed! I spent a month north of Alta away out in the middle of nowehere (Øksfjordjøkelen) a few years back, was pretty damn cool!

Bajsyckel – Thanks for that! will check it out, looks like a good site. You are right I will be at the NTNU, currently at the ‘ENSAG’ in Grenoble and was at RGU in Aberdeen before that, I pretty just follow my nose in terms of what looks good for riding!

Mu3266 – Where abouts in the country have you been? Will consider a car, but not sure I would be able to afford it, anyway there is always a mate or two with a car… Will definitely have my camera, half the reason I am going is for the incredible landscape! I can ski so thats a plus. Thats exactly the kind of little bits of information I was hoping for haha, free tea!

Champery – Is way down in the bottom of the valley, you have to take a verrry long gondola lift to get up out of the village and this is the only lift open in the summer, as far as i know the only real trail down into the town is the WC track. In my opinion its a bit out the way!

Les Crosets – I would say is actually the best place for access to the trails, you will be able to ride straight to your door, its a town thats actually up ‘in’ the resort amongst the runs, you pass through it going between lifts and runs. From there you take one lift up and you are into France and away into the Les Lindarets (which then gets you into chatel or away over to Morzine side). Definitely the best place location wise to be close to riding but there reaally is buggar all there, just a scattering of houses.

Torgon – I am assuming you mean Torgon not Torgin? This place is a bit of an outstretched of the portes du soleil, its away out on its own and not very accessible to the rest, wouldn’t even consider it to be honest.

Morgin – Riding wise has easily some of the best runs coming into it, only one lift up out of it though, and in terms of lifts I would say it does not give you great access to the rest of the resort. You can actually get there from the top of the Mosettes lift via a few fire roads but you would have to ask for a bit of local knowledge (I’m sure I would remember if i was there but can’t off the top of my head!), so getting back to the place isnt a problem. Getting from here to Chatel is SUPER easy, its about a 10min cycle up the road from the town, its really nothing.

As above would recommend staying in Chatel just as there is a bit more going on outside of wanting to ride, Chatel itself is not actually where the famous ‘Chatel Bike Park’ is, its about 5km up the road however there are free buses that take you there. Only thing is I imagine they will be PACKED if you are there when the race is on!!

I live in Grenoble and I am quite sure that they dont do any flights after the winter season to the UK (not 100% sure though).

Lyon is pretty much the same distance as Grenoble airport is not actually in Grenoble, its 3/4 the way to Lyon.

There are buses from Lyon to all the ski places, just google you will find them, easy enough.

Geneva is further away than Lyon but think there are more flights there, transfers less easy however.

Northern Lights for me too, I can’t really explain why but I have a real fascination with them and I think it would absolutely blow me away to see them!

I’ve applied to study for a year in Trondheim in Norway next year, get the response back next week so fingers crossed.

I did some fantastic ones when the weather was still good before winter but I had not started this yet! I am sure there will be plenty opportunities when the warm weather comes back.

I will be here for the next three years potentially and will almost definitely be in London for the summer so it wont all be Grenoble riding… But yeah Vercors and Chartreuse have been explored a little already and there are some great places! Belledonne is the mountain range to the south and has some proper alpine style riding i would like to get done after winter!

    Belledonne…

And if any of you guys want routes in either Belledonne, Chatreuse or vercours see here…

French version of STW (I think)

that has all the GPS trails you can imagine… just join the dots!
