1pm will be when the riders start coming down the track.

i’d personally get a few hours per week on the bike, then spend 30 mins a day on flexibility and core muscles. Most of these can be done at home without any specialist equipment.

What’s the correct etiquette if you’re riding round a trail centre the opposite way to everyone else and you keep meeting people head on ?

If you’re going the wrong way, you should expect people to shout at you and call you an asshat.

I’d just keep the 29er, and mod it to what you want. This is because of the track condition you stated. Road bikes are great on smooth tarmac, but can be quite punishing on poor surfaces.

Don’t forget that when it’s wet, as the faster (Read BETTER, more ELITE) rider, it is your duty to put the bike into a drift through a puddle therefore showering the slower person with a sense of muddy fail which drenches them. They soon get the message and then take up chess instead.

just fitted some 750 havocs on my do-it-all bike. will give it a ride in a couple of months and see how i get on. Had 710s on there prior, and they felt great. I just fancied giving wider bars a go. I’ll probably chop them down to about 730mm though.

    Oh, and i’m 6′

    lols.

I have the 2011 version. CRACKING wheels, absolutely fantastic. Tough as hell, and verreh light! Took me a while to trust them as they are stronger than you think.

I compressed 3 vertabrae in my spine 9 weeks ago whilst dirt jumping. I don’t see myself having the balls to do that stuff again. As long as i’m able to hit the small jumps and tables at trail centres, i’ll be happy. I’m only young, so have plenty of time to re-learn.

    Get it now.

With the way new bikes are costing these days, the equivalent in 2 years time will be 2x the price.

    Mine was boring.

Mates were all riding and racing, and i’m still injured. Ended up going for an epic drive around snowdonia and using up over half a tank of fuel over 200 miles around the mountains yesterday :D.

The road from Bala to Festiniog is EPIC. Slow, but twisty and up and down, with epic scenery.

I currently dislike my job. Not enough to keep me busy, and the stuff i am doing is fairly boring. But i’m slowly re-positioning myself in the business, and will be doing stuff which is more fun near the end of the year. Still, the money and perks are good.

You can re-use links, but tbh, i’d rather not. Powerlink it up.

    Sorry what?

Break the chain using the powerlink.

Shorten the chain by however many links.

Fit new powerlink. (I know you shouldn’t, but i’ve always re-used powerlinks with no problems at all)

    chris_mbuk, that’s a stupid thing to do.

it’s like seeing someone cross a zebra crossing, and think ‘they’re still on the other side of the road, if i floor it, i may miss them’.

Pay attention and use your brain before nearly running someone off the road.

I understand your topic title now, what a Silly Billy.

I sustained concussion, a few cracked ribs, a fractured pelvis and multiple spinal fractures. Sure, i got away lightly compared, but the two weeks in hospital not able to move made it a bit shit.

I have age on my side, and i’m normally a fast healer. The only thing i’m still suffering with is the spinal injuries.

Still, it doesn’t detract from the chap who got injured originally, and it’s a mighty horrible place to be at.

I sustained similar injuries 7 weeks ago. I wish the chap best of luck with recovery. It’s a difficult recovery.

They’re not the most comfy of places IMO.

I had my first and hopefully only ride in one 6 weeks ago. ?Hated the fact that i was on a spine board and with the blocks either side of my head!

    But lucky you!

Last time i cried was day 3 in hospital 6 weeks ago to the day. It was in the evening after the doctors had been around on their rounds and told me what damage i had done to myself. The few hours between then and when lights were turned out made it sink in the seriousness of serious injury, what danger you put yourself into when on the mtb, and how lucky i was to be a) still alive, and 2) alive and not paralyzed.

I then cried again 7 days later when i was in the recovery suite in theatre, and the surgeon decided that when on the operating table after moving my body through the movements, i didn’t need surgery. Those were relief tears.
