I used to subscribe to allsorts. I now subscribe to nothing, as all mags are now 40pc content, 60pc adverts. I’m not spending my money on advertisements for online shops.

My method of magazine buying is..

have a flick through at tescos when i’m doing the shopping. If there’s something that interests me, i’ll buy the mag, if not, i’ll put it back on the shelf and wait till next months.

Yep, I think my bike and bag (evoc bike bag) comes to about 22kgs. Again, with easyjet it’s 32kg, so there was no issue.

So if I pay for an extra bag, I would get an allowance of 2 bags, each coming to a maximum of 23kgs? (So 46kgs in total?)

    Thanks mr tipinman.

    Just my experience..

I snapped the c-clip that held the bolt just in case it went loose.

a week later i was blasting down one of the degla blacks, and had to slam on as i was going at a fair pace. Brakes on, i keeo going. the pads had bounced out of the calipers about 20metres before my braking point. Luckily i found the spring and the pads in the mud, and ran some wire through the caliper to hold the pads in.

Get yourself some new pads, the bolt and clip comes with them.

Reigns are fantastic bikes. They don’t have the cool factor that the snappierres do, but they ride fantastically. Sure, a 6″ trail bike isn’t going to be amazing on the hills, but the reign is no slouch.

I’ve got a reign and to be honest, it made me a much faster rider. The suspension works so well you find yourself flying. Then again, I haven’t ridden the 214, so I can’t compare, but I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either. Also, own brand parts on the reign are quality bits of kit, not some own brand tat you find on some bikes.

My scheme is 6% employee, 12% employer.

You can put in whatever you want up to the 6%, and the employer will double it. It’s all pre-tax, so a bigger percent means less tax paid.

I use one of these when travelling with work. Paid more than this too! Fits on as handluggage on Easyjet (Normally the smallest allowance), so it’s small enough.

    First Trailstar

This cracked under the headtube, and DMR had it back off me to go on their wall and they sent me the frame below for £65 (Brand new)Apparently the champagne coloured horizontal dropouted with mtb bb ended up quite rare.

    My last Trailstar.

I regret selling it to this day.

that sounds like the more well done side of medium.

I like mine medium rare, still needs to be rather pink in the middle.

Stone Roses.. a few people i know absolutely bum off them.

I really do not see what they see in them. They even split up when my mates were toddlers.

    Real quick one..

When i was going back to hospital a couple of weeks after my 3 week stay, i was told this.. We can organise an ambulance taxi if you are stuck for a lift to your appointment, but we only ask you to do this if you cannot get here otherwise.

I was in a spine brace then, and on crutches, so i couldn’t get the bus, couldn’t get the train, and could only get a lift. Luckily i have relatives that were able to take me.

A taxi service is offered as part of the treatment to those who cannot get to the hospital to continue with their care. Obviously the ambulance buses are preferred which pick you up from your home.

Decent wheels make a massive amount of difference.

I’ve got a reign X and went from some hope/Mavic wheels to some mavic crossmax’s, 9 months back and wow, it feels like a totally different bike. Strong, Stiff and light, the bike turns in more positively and accelerates much more quickly. Shame they come at a price.

Looks like a new boardwalk section just off the red after jj’s jumps, and another new red section after the old annoying logs that have been closed for a while now.

That’s been there a fair while. I was up there in May (I think – definately isn’t since July as i’ve been injured and not been riding) and it was all built, just a little bit of the boardwalk was there.

From my conversation, it’s a decent loop (think parallel universe without the rocky section) that links to the end of JJ’s jumps section, then it’s a mid sized climb back up.

As it’s nearing winter, i’d hazard a guess that the answer is probably spring next year. Trails take a long time to weather in before they become motorway-trafficable.

60p for chocolate bars, 62p for cans of pop.

I still prefer to go to tescos and pay £1.60 for a bar of Green and Blacks.

I’d say get one. But it’s part of the unwritten code that you have to wear full knee shin guards and elbow/forearm guards whilst wearing it.

But being honest, IMO there are better helmets out there.

I’d get one of these over a parachute if i needed the chin guard. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=58789

Or just get a decent open face helmet.

    It’ll be different, that’s a fact.

Maestro feels quite a lot different to single pivot.

But as others have stated, as you haven’t said what you’re riding, or riding style, or anything else, then ???

Is a horse a vehicle? It’s because it does the same as a car..

Carries passengers, doesn’t like people overtaking them, consumes a LOT of fuel, releases a massive amount of crap into the atmosphere (and onto the roads) etc etc?

I also think horse riders should pay road tax. Think of all the turd that the council has to clean up! :D

After reading and looking at all the pics I’m off to buy lots of body armour….Wishing a speedy recovery to all of you.

    I’m with the poster above..

My injuries wouldn’t have been stopped with body armour. It’d just be much more expensive to replace it when they slice it off me.

But yes, for skin wounds. armour is indispensible.

Power electronics? Sure, go for it.

If it was a PhD in modern history, i’d say forget it, but power engineering will open a few doors.

But remember, having a PhD is no means an easy way into a job. You’ll be just as likely to be shortlisted for a job as someone with no experience and a MEng. (Unless it’s exactly about what you researched)

By the way, all the people i know who did PhDs are now university lecturers. (Apart from the CEO of the multinational company i work for :P)

Yeh, true. Never seen a roady wearing full body armour and a MET parachute, so you must be correct.

    *sigh*

Road riding is great fun. You can push yourself a lot more than when on the MTB. I’ve pushed myself so i’ve been sick when on the roady, but never been able to do it on the MTB.

So explain to me, what has Danny Hart done for the sport? Sure, he’s won ONE elite race this year, and that’s it.

What have you heard of him doing outside of the sport? Nothing? OK.

I’m pretty sure that Cav is well more deserving of it, winning a hell of a lot of stages on the TdF, which (if you noticed) got a lot of people into road cycling and making more people do the C2W which brings the government more ££.

    Yep.

10 weeks ago i fractured my hip socket (Which has healed enough for me to walk properly), and fractured my spine in a few places after having a massive smash at harthill (MTB pursuits).

Still wearing a brace for my spine, and i have 2 weeks left of having to wear it.

Currently going through physio for muscle loss for my leg and hip. I’ve also got massive core muscle wastage at the moment, which is so disheartening.

Not able to ride for another 6 weeks.. :/

i wear lycra because i have an average (read:MASSIVE) sized penis.

Lycra gives you an awesomely crisp tan line and also because it’s more aero when on the roady. Also, if you start to sweat, you dry off quickly. Baggies come on when i get back on the MTB.

I used to work at B&Q and the stuff you’re thinking of is Spaceblanket.

Horrible stuff. Had to shift 3x pallets of the stuff by hand, roll by roll onto the racking, and you end up a lovely shade of silver as the silver lining rubbed off onto your hands/face/clothing etc. Not the cheapest though. They also like to burst which means that you’ll get aweful itchy skin wherever you come into contact with the stuff.

I work for a very large multi-national (over 500k employees)

My expenses are ‘whatever is reasonable’ as long as it’s receipted.

My accomodation has varied from €70 per night when i was in italy, up to the company designated hotel in paris (Just off Avenue Victor Hugo) for €140 per night. As long as i use a company approved hotel then they’ll pay whatever.

And as long as my expenses are reasonable and accountable (i.e. i needed a hire car, or something like that) then they’ll have no problem getting them paid. for things like flights etc, i don’t pay a penny, as the agency we sort flights through bills the company directly.

But i’m in a similar position to the OP. I got myself a rewards credit card, and bung everything onto there. I then get the costs paid to me in my wage which pays off the ccd. If there are any credit card interest charges due to non-payment, that goes on my expenses too.

I once told the company i work for that i had no ccd, they said my hotel was going to be paid for by someone else so i’d have nothing to pay. I spent a week in paris, and when i came to paying the hotel bill (Approx €850), i was lucky to have just cleared off my only ccd at that time which had a £750 limit. the cost of the hotel came to £3 underneath my limit. When i asked afterwards, they said that they weren’t able to pay in advance.

    Something like this?

It’ll go up and down alpine passes all day. Just don’t try to find out how much they are, you could buy a 2nd hand 2009 focus ST3 for the same price as one of these new
