    Just a thought..

Rekon these tyres would be spot on for a week trail riding in the alps? 2.2 UST flavour?

to be honest, i’d much prefer to land on my camelbak bladder than to land on rocks.

Just gone from a camelbaklobo to a mule.

Great pack, loooots of room, and nice and comfy.

TBH, in the hot weather, i was going through 3l of water over a 3hr ride!

It’s just had a respray, that’s for sure, as there aren’t any marks where the seatpost clamp went.

For the front, you can mix and match! You could even run a shimano X-something with a sram x-0 cage, or a sram x-0 shifter with a shimano mech!

As for the rear mechs, the difference is the length of the cage of the mech.

    i.e.

    Short mech..

    Long cage mech..

Generally, you can run a short with a single ring on the front, medium with a dual, and a long with a triple. (There are however exceptions to this)

    42mph* for me..

*from my mates house to the shop (About 1km), that was down a steep hill, Mates at the top, and the shop is at the bottom.

    About 12mph back.. :/

    I would go for…

    Whatever fits you the best.

Get yourself to a good road bike shop and try them out. I’d hate to spend a grand on a bike and then realise that it doesn’t fit right.

TBH though, we’ve needed a bit of rain to give the grass a wetting, and make the trails nice and grippy again.

Can’t wait for it to be dr again, as the pollen will be out and about, so the hayfever will be rife!

if i was you, if you have any float fluid (Or whatever its called) chuck some of that over the seals from unside just to make sure everythings nice and lubed.

    IT’s fine.

Just remove the can, and push it back in.

All it is is a ‘dust scraper’. The seals are behind this.

after riding a giant trancex and an orange 5 back to back, i prefered the geo of the 5, but much preferred the suspension feel of the trance. that was with an RP23 on the orange, and a float r on the trancex!

Still, i’m a winner as i have a giant reign X which has the geo of the 5 (But with 0.5″ longer chainstay), but the suspension feel of the trance (Even though it has an extra 35mm travel).

As for the 5 snobbery, it’s hilarious!

TBF, my TLD XC gloves were, and still are my favourite. So much so that my lbs has just ordered me another 2 pairs.

Haven’t had the issue with them splitting at the seams.

BTW, how old are these gloves and how much riding have they had on them when they start to split?

i thought it was hilarious the other day. Chap in a nissan juke kept trying to overtake me on a single lane road in a 40. As soon as it turned to a derestrict road, i put my foot down and he couldn’t keep up.

Not only are they ugly as hell, they’re slow to boot.

Whatever happened to the local video store?

I’ve still got one a 5 minute walk from my house.

Easier to jump big jumps through a rhythm section IMO. Means you can start pedalling just before you land the jump to get the speed for the next.

I’ve started drinking more ever since work started pushing on the pressure.. Really need to stop drinking tbh.

I’m only 24, and been in my job 8 months in a mid – higher management position (For a company with over 500k employees), and i had to deliver something from 10 sites today. Talk about getting put under pressure, had the CEO of the company phoning me asking where the work was and moaning for the first time even though i delivered today when the deadline is tuesday next week.

Still, sat here with a couple of bottles of hobgoblin, and i rekon a nightcap of some Jamesons is in order later on.

You could drive to the ferry stopping for a coffee, but the drive from calais to Morzine would probably see you dropping off at some point.

But i agree, driving will be possibly just as expensive as flying.

I did the mistake of booking a week with trailaddiction before checking the cost of travel :D

Still, i can afford it for now..

TBH, the more cut up it’s getting, the more fun its getting.

But yeh, there are still some sections that are smooth as a babys bum.

You go for what fits and which provides the best ventilation which you can afford.

Exactly. And lets face it £100 isn’t much considering they last a few years unless your unlucky.

And don’t forget, the more expensive ones have crash replacement policies, so crash, and you get a new one at a greater reduced price.

I went on my first road ride this year the other day. (When i say first road ride, it was the first time i put the lycra on this year. Good news, it all still fits!)and i forgot how fast you can go! Ended up doing 46mph down a hill in a 30, and having to slam on the brakes otherwise i’d have gone into the back of a slow moving car! only did 25 miles, as it was getting dark. And that i was recovering from a day at a pump track doing laps.

I’ve got a rack on my focus, but it;s a towbar one!

I’d also be very wary with strapping it onto the flimsy flimsy FLIMSY spoiler.

    Question..

Do you like fat grips, or thin grips?

If you like fat grips, then Lizard Skin Logo Lock ons are what you want.

If you like thin grips, then ODI Ruffians.

“If you’re going new, then Trance X…simples”
What? Did you miss this bit:
    “150mm tapered RS Revs U-Turn”

The new trance X has a tapered head tube.. I should know, there’s one sat downstairs..

    anto164

If you want to keep it in, just slice the plastic tube in half, and then extend it from the middle out. Use something like the thin metal from a coke can and wrap it around a couple of times, then a bit of electrical tape to keep it in place.

TBF, i had a blast around a car park on one, and they felt quite good under the pedals, and soaked up the bumps well-ish, but (Perhaps the same for all air shocks) you either set the rear shock up for hard hits so not to bottom out all the time, or to soak up the small hits, but will bottom lots.

And who gives a rats arse about maintenance. All bikes need a fettle every now and then, and know what, fettling with bikes is good fun! Seconded to riding (And sex!).

Try this for the rear shock:

    http://video.mpora.com/watch/KRTj23Tn7/

That’s just an air sleeve maintenance (I.E. the air seals) not a full service. A full service involves draining the oil, then refilling with oil, purging the air, and then nitro charging the shock.

TBH, servicing yourself is cheaper, but the problems occur when all of a sudden there’s something broken in the fork or shock.

Does me buying a £700 wheelset for my ‘all mountain 6.7″ travel trail machine’ put me into the bracket of all gear no idea?

    anto164

I personally wouldn’t do a rear shock myself, but RS forks are some of the easiest forks to service, as all the step by step instructions are on the SRAM website.

I get more annoyed by people standing on the landings of jumps, and you dont see them until you’ve passed the ‘i’m commited to jumping this jump’ point when on a fast flowy trail.

You almost rode past my house between pic 1 & 2 !

    Pic 6 Thurstaston?

Spot on. Did a lap of royden park, then down over calday hill, through the woods opposite calday grammar, then to west kirby, then wirral way to hooton, then back to Calday (With a few detours to get me off the wirral way, then up round thurstaston a couple of laps.
