The tapas place is good but I really like Ed’s Diner.

OT cycles near Dartford town centre has been there forever.

Cyclopark is just off the A2 at Gravesend DA13 9RA according to google

I ride my road bike on the sort of stuff you are talking about. On 27mm tubs, no issues.

I ride the same stuff on my cross bike much faster and have more fun on 32mm tubs.

fasthaggis – you got that right, although with my brakes the way they are slowing down isn’t an option.

Mine are the heaviest I think. Coil SLs which weigh at least 5lbs and the Velvets weigh 3.8lbs

The vid made me want to ride my cross bike.

    A kg lighter?

    *raises eyebrow*

You are quite right. At worst they are about half a KG lighter. Dunno where I found the Pike weight from but I was incorrect.

Thanks all, my control is pretty good a normal week is 30 tests in target (4-8) with 2 low and 2 high. The lows are usually 3 at most and the highs are testing post food if I need to drive somewhere.

My A1C went from 13.5 to 6.0 in the first 6 months and was 5.5% the last time of checking. I feel like I have a decent handle on it now and am introducing stuff back in. I’ve learned a lot about carb counting and do it a little different to DAFNE but the effect is the same. My consultant has put me on a split dose of my basal which does give me a bit more control for exercise. If I’m going running, or golfing, or walking I can take a lower basal in the morning and I’m also learning about what to eat without a bolus (If I play golf I eat 2 bananas and a Naked bar and end up around 4.8 at the end of it).

Thanks again for the encouragement, if I think of any questions I’ll let you know.

I have a Ortlieb classic and it is cavernous. I’ve managed on a normal day (clothes left at work) with just a caradice junior.

If the nut hasn’t seized onto the bolt you may be able to tighten it all the way up and get it to pop out the top with a bit of leverage under the top cap. then install a new one.

I’ve had no issues with cafe latex, of course I’ll end up with a flat now I’ve said that.

Yes they do look like those. Not worth going from my 456 to a Soul then?

What are those wheels and how heavy are they? Bike looks lovely, I’ve got a real hankering for one.

    Here is my flatland bike

Stripped it down for a lick of paint. It’s a heavy old thing though, I’d like a lighter one and some 3 piece cranks.

But if you only ride one brake it also makes sense to use your stronger hand.

You don’t really need the strength. Peiople run them on that side as an affectation. You can’t do hand signals and slow at the same time. 🙂

I love my tubeless setup, same wheels as you but with the sticky nevegal and blue groove. Run mid 20s and it sticks to everything.

Would like to try something lighter with less rolling resistance though, racing Ralphs might be the ones.

I’d give that 12 months, tops.

I went there in 2008 (the old shop in Hoxton Square) so I think your prediction is a little off

I’m not in the most extreme aero position myself, I’ve compromised to find what’s fastest for me. For someone who is not flexible though I think saddle forward is maybe not the way to go. Just a different thought process I guess.

Understand that Tri and TT have different goals in terms of muscle recruitment because I can barely walk after a TT let alone run 🙂

I’d say moving your saddle forward is the opposite of what you need.

To be aero you need to bend over to achieve the flat back, moving the saddle forward (and up at the same time) will open the hip angle a little but you’ll then be relying on a different muscle recruitment to pedal and will have more weight on your arms.

Ignore the calorie counts on any electronic device or website they are all just worthless figures.

Unless it’s a power meter that tells you the actual energy you’ve passed to the cranks.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you can get on top of the Crohns and find the right drug combo to lead a normal life.
