@funkrodent – no didn’t go for this in the end.  Decided that with massive discount via the stw sub, I could afford a gore endure instead.

I reckon I’d pay £1000 to see ac/dc, but only with bon scott, which i guess  is unlikely to happen.

Agree with unique about the route from son bou to cal en porter. Quite tough going.  Strava says it was 34° when I did it (which apparently felt like 40°). Was ready for a beer when i got back.

I’ve ridden some of the cami either side of son bou. None of it particularly easy – hard work but good fun.  I don’t tend to mind the heat too much but I’ll admit it was pretty warm.

I didn’t get over to the west of the island (only as far as cala galdana) so dont know what the riding there is like, but there’s plenty of info if you Google it.

The place i hired from was pretty good and delivered and picked up the bikes.   You might want to take your own pedals though.

A load of fox and marzocchi forks on sportpursuit at the moment. Might be something there for you.

Slidy dropouts are fine for commuters and things, as a fit and forget option on a regular route, but I always want a tensioner on my race bikes

Fair enough  – my ss is a bike for the winter slop – not exactly set up for racing 🙂.

If you really want to ride a lot of single speed, its probably worth getting a proper single speed frame (horizontal drop outs).

My tld a1 is the comfiest helmet I’ve had.

I’ve got a poc (kortal i think). It looks nice,  but the fit is nowhere near as good.

    Do you have a hammer?

    Do you have frozen sauages?

    Does he have a lawn?

    You know what to do.

Sweet protection.  Substantial enough to provide some proper protection, but comfy enough that i pretty much forget I’ve got them on after a few minutes.

    2x vans

    1x spd shoes

    1x walking shoes

    1x smart shoes

Should be OK.  I ordered a chain from them in april and realised at the end of may it hadn’t been delivered.  I emailed to cancel the order and they refunded in a couple of days.

For anyone who’s interested,  a little while after posting the original message, I changed my routine and started doing two pretty intense turbo sessions a week (45 mins, average hr in zone 4, including warm up/down).

While I’m not going to be winning any races, it seems to have made a massive improvement not only to my riding performance, but general fitness, both physical and mental.  I seem a lot more focussed, almost like a bit of brain fog has been cleared.

I was even wondering if I had a bit of mild long covid (if its possible to have ‘mild’ long covid) but could just be imagination or placebo.

The crappy weather we’ve been having has actually helped too. Normally in summer I’d go for a real ride, but that would never be at the same intensity.

Either way, I’m hooked. As far as the turbo is concerned, flat out FTW.

One of the many things I have to thank stw for is introducing me to the phrase “clean getaway” for those times when you realise that any wiping was unecessary.

Has anyone mentioned the effect that gravity has on time?? If not why not??

I guess that’s maybe because its not self evident. And as far as I’m concerned its beyond magic.

    As you were.

I love flying when its smooth and calm, but as soon as there’s any turbulance, I assume the wings are going to fall off.

This incident should convince me that planes are pretty capable of dealing with turbulence and make future flights more relaxing….. but I’m not sure it will.

Seems that most people ride SS for different reasons to me – “fun” and “a hoot” are not phrases i associate with it.

SS is a practical solution that allows me to keep riding through the worst of the weather without destroying my other bikes.

As soon as the trails dry out, the SS is in the shed and forgotten.

Its really very simple – on the basis that crisps taste nice, twiglets are clearly not crisps.

    Big thanks to race ready!!

Firstly for taking the time to respond, followed up with quick delivery and great price.

Thanks also to STW – without which none of this would be possible.

@raceready Thanks, although not quite what I wanted to hear.

My post is externally routed so can’t even use the race face spare.

Thanks, but certainly not a problem with the cable getting stuck.  I’ve taken it apart and disconnected the internal cable/cord. Still the same problem.

Whats obvious is that the brass keys are way smaller than they are on the other ascend posts I’ve got.

@iainc thanks,  I did notice those.  They do look pretty good, but would be interested to hear how tough they are.  I’ve got previous form for putting massive rips in brand new jackets.
