Salisbury, Wilton, Grovelly, Naim… could a thread get much better??
Dorset knob, there’s some lovely riding around, and Grovelly is great to ride in… I think anyway. There’s a cool track I call “The Fun Path” weendy windy woodland singletrack.
Rich is my bike buddy, we could show you around one day if you wanted. I’m not a banana, I guess you’re not a knob!

My English A level teacher taught Fruitbat from Carter USM.
Frank Skinner used to teach at the college I went to.

And…. I went on a school industry trip to the factory that unwittingly (?) made the Iraqi supergun in the 90s.

That’s all looking slightly tenuous I think, and the third one possibly doesn’t even count in this context…

Hire a donkey to carry your stuff! You’re not far from Weston S Mare are you, I bet there’s loads there, waiting for summer. Then you could write a book about it.

Wish I was riding in the Quantocks tomorrow.
Instead, my Spesh is in bits on the garage floor :(

Male: Gorgeous, gorgeous Rufus Wainwright. I know he’s gay, this is fantasy squared.

Female: Bonkers brilliant Bjork. Plus, the robot video is strangely erotic.

hate to say it the beard, but measuring your thighs whilst sitting down might look a little odd as well. in the privacy of your desk space etc

Can’t believe I just measured my thighs….. have work to do…… must not get sidetracked…… I might need to block STW from my own computer :(

” After months of careful planning, Miss Banana finally chose an eclectic forum full of random mountain bikers to out herself as an expert counterfeiter, and then deny it and then change her mind and finally question her own sanity”

I think you might be right robdob.

Robdob not like me! OK was being tongue in cheek cos I know the real answer is anyone, but you know what I mean. If indeed anyone ever knows what I mean…

I’m just opening a community bank account, and had to take my passport and someone else’s into Barclays. The other one is a new one and has all the UV light visible markings. Mine is 7 years old and doesn’t. It was held under the UV light and as there weren’t as many pretty patterns as the other one, she asked me if I had any more ID! There are some UV light visible markings on mine.

A bit OT I know, but I was stunned. I don’t even look like a passport forger! I just had the authenticity of my passport doubted :( What do I have left?

When I was at school, someone told me that mushrooms grow from sheep sperm. I couldn’t eat them for years after that.

Hi CG! As Dr P says. It’s not really a sea crossing, it’s just a very short and tame chain ferry ride across a mill pond like harbour. I was getting carried away with my descriptions. It’s a couple of quid with a bike, maybe not even that much. (Getting on the ferry does feel a bit like going on holiday though)

    help my concentrate

For that, Mr Bash, you need to grow Gingko Biloba. Pretty and yellow in Autumn. If you made it wear small shoes, you might stunt its growth enough to fit in the lower tier.

I’m a container veg gardener too. Your toms idea sounds good, I always do pretty well with them. Courgettes in pots don’t work in my experience. New for this year for me is broad beans, you can get dwarf varieties too which may go well in the lower tier. Salad leaves /rocket dead easy, good in the top planter. Seeds for the salad, seedlings for the other stuff I’d say.

Looks good! I’m in love with the Qs. All those clicky hubs make it sound like Greece with ciccadas. I like all the footage of Scream River too.

Thanks CountZero; more helpful STW folk! It was a bit of a sorry tale, but the LBS have helped out now – it needed a knowledgeably placed screwdriver, as well as a whack with a mallet.

My goodness the headset’s in a state! Watch out for the next thrilling instalment; Annabananna removes/replaces headset (not)

Thanks Mark. I’ve given up and feel way more miserable about it than I should. The new me wasn’t going to rely on blokes and bike shops, but it obviously needs to.
Forks service postponed, going down LBS tomorrow.
    Thanks all :(

You guys are very helpful! I have removed everything except the steering column from the headtube. (nice diagrams)

I have whacked it harder than I want to (it’s my bike!!) using hammer/towel, hammer/yellowpages and finally have found some wood. It’s still not moving. Should I go and hit it even harder? The wood is only 1 – 2 inches thick. I don’t want to damage anything.

    Feeling slightly defeated.

right will have another go with hammer. What do I slide off the top? The compression ring? Where is that?

Thanks so much for help, I’m trying to be more mechanically minded about my bike, but it’s not going very well.

Dammit why is it always more difficult than it was supposed to be??
Have tried the rubber mallet (towel wrapped round normal hammer)
Not sure what the grease cover is. Can’t see anything that looks like it might come off, or a triangle bit of metal.

Thanks for suggestions… any more? I got to go to work soon and they’re being collected tomorrow :(
