I manage it most mornings on a 10 mile commute.
Track stands for the win, they need not look like they require effort.

They were pretty darn good, Airbourne the support were superb.

Rehub the wheels, keep your rims on some hope hubs. Xc’s come up cheap all the time.

Differnt pads for the brakes, it could be a case of fresh pads and cables to make them feel nice.

And as for the forks they can be made to feel very nice so don’t give up on them just yet.

    Edited to appear less patronising.

The specialized tyres are indeed winners and will give thousands of miles..

there are loads of deals on slicks and semi slicks around, crc, and Onone have loads of stuff sub 10 quid.

It all looks very nice, however, i’m a kill joy and tend to take my own sarnies and coffee anywhere i travel to ride.

I often wonder why people consult this forum instead of just seeing a GP.

I would’nt want the world knowing i’d caught galloping arse rot from a flight.
It’s between me and my indiscrete GP.

I’d go weak at the knees for a Pace 104 setup with shiney bits…

    I don’t need one though.

Something wonderfully british leyland about the paintjob..
get a headrest from a maestro for a saddle and the look will be complete.

I’m sure however that it would ride rather well.

often find them on ebay when someone has the wrong spring weight.

For every year you’ve owned it you’ve lost 30% of its value easily.
You might cry if it went on ebay for 1200.00

Just split it and flog the bits, or,

Chances are a lot of your kit would swap nicely onto a full suspension frame.
Selling a full bike relies on someone wanting to own that exact build and you are more likely to lose more financially going down that route.

If time is a major constraint i’m sure your local shop would arrange it all for you to do a frame swap.

I got a wonderful rear mech a few weeks back which was virtually useless.

So, use the classifieds with caution kids.

The classifieds on here are littered with thomson flogging.

People who are fickle and change bikes every week tend to offer bargain prices.

I own effectively the modern version of a mountain cycle San andreas, a bike i lusted after.

The bike i’d really love to own however is an early pace hardtail.
    Pretty things!

    That’ll look quite cool singlespeeded.

    Keep the original paint job.

The problem with powdercoat is ensuring all the shot is removed from the lowers once the job is done.
It will wreck bushings and internals once refitted to bike.

I got called into the office at work to ask “off the record” what was wrong with me.
I held back from telling them that the appauling pay and crap morale in the place was mostly to blame. Having just got back from two weeks of having fun on my bike i’m pretty down as well.

Still, update your cv, and fire off some applications.
Even if you get some charming rejection letters at least your attempting to make life more pleasant.

    Third time for me tonight.

Not paticularly going to witness musical genius, just a good laugh and an opportunity to jump around like a wally for a few hours.

    Eskar user here as well.

I’ve run them on my hardtail and full sus for over two years ( obv they wear eventually)

    But brilliant all rounders

I have a 10 mile commute and found a 36/14 setup gave me the best all round ratio.
I did’nt completely spin out all the time, and, had enough oomph when accelerating away from a standstill.

I run deore steel rings, reasonble cassette such as xt/shiney sram, with the cheapest 9 speed chain i can find.
Generally i’ll get 1500 miles of commuting mixed with muddy weekend riding from one chain before the shifting goes off a bit.
The rest of the components such as cassette/rings tend to give me just over 3000 miles.

Biggest improvement that can be made is make the soggy bit steering the bike (the rider) go to the gym.

No to yet more silly sizes!

I have an inbred which i use for everything from commutes, to riding holidays when the full sus has decided to spit it’s dummy.

Change the tyres, flick a singlespeed kit on, whatever.
    I don’t need 6 bikes. (i’d get nagged for a start)

I buy a new hex every 18 months.
They usually last less than that.

    Good shape, and comfy..

And if you buy in a minging colour scheme, very cheap on crc.

I should add i have two!

    Stops the mould slightly…

given it’s a sealed bearing inside a hope bb it does not matter whether it is ceramic or stainless.
    Both are easily replaced.

    4x racing?

Probably supposed to service them after every weekend if you hammer them.
In the lowers they run very little actual lube and the uppers are steel.
