I’ve spent a fair bit chopping and changing.
The only fork i miss is a set of 2005 mx pro’s which were beautifully bedded in.
Currently running a set of on one rigids.

    They can be silly.
I’ve since dropped to something much narrower.

They probably not want to be breath tested.
Highly likely they’d be over the limit on boxing day, i know i would have been today.

    Did you get a number?

I was at work yesterday and that knocked me for six, so, hopefully going to get out for an hour at the least tommorow.

    Happy festive trails folks.

It’s some sort of budget frame.
I think the bankrupt surplus site were selling those.

I intend to continue as my parents have for many years.
A quiet, calm gathering free from stupid stress and freeeloading visitors.

    I work in retail…
all i’ve heard since august is tosh about the second half being make or break.
i.e. Christmas. (i appreciate it is make or break.. but it’s constant!)
If i hear the live aid christmas tune one more time i’m gonna start murdering people.

I enjoy the quiet way we approach the day in our house.. just the four of us.
Doors locked, phones off the hook with plenty of grub and none of the stupid false get togethers that other people seem to enjoy.

    As for presents..very few.
Couple of joke ones for the lads i ride with, but usually i just buy a couple cases of beer for my mates and we drink it all in a big blow out before or after the 24th.

    I know it’s probably too much kit…
But, 5 people, and 3 mountain bikes.

(parents were going walking that day)

Ours continues to sip fuel and perform adequately. Comfier than the older one on motorway journeys with a wide enough back seat for three adults.
The handling on the later one is much more like a car. (based on pug 307 underneath the body)

The bedding in thing is more an issue on poorer quality spike tyres from what some websites say.

Also don’t ride um hard on clear roads/trails as you’ll lose spikes.
    Useful winter tyre info site

I’ve bought one from Clas Ohlson. It was just shy of 30 notes.
Pretty cheap cheerful tyre, but, it was worth a shot.
I’m gonna make a one to match out of a tioga dh for the other end of the bike.

For a long time i was a gears only guy.. 2 of my three bikes are now singlespeed.

I like the time you save on fine tuning gears..
and also the fact that the bits are going to last ages!

How long before Orange offer the box that you check to buy a 5 in drug dealer spec. It adds 4000 to the list price, then once a week someone from orange comes round and demands 40 quid off you for the rest of the time you own the bike.

The last technical thing i did on a bike was negotiate a big pothole.
It’s weeks since i rode a mountain bike.

I have spells of not riding offroad which usually coincide with assignments being due at uni.

Currently miles are mostly clocking up on the pompino… and it sounds as if it’s going to spit its dummy..

As for my mates..They’re all slowing down/mellowing.
The big long travel bikes have been sold, the sensible xc bikes have been bought and built.
And it’s a more sudate sensible one silly bike in the stable sort of affair.

    So mojo.?
erm it’s kinda gone to the back of the toy cupboard.

    Good article.

100 miles a week to and from work i see at least 2 near misses that make me rapidly breathe in. It’s a mixture of poor cyclecraft and bad driver judgement.

Treat all other road users like the unpredictable, foolish sleep deprived idiots they are
As for trying to “educate” a person by shouting at them… its a waste of time. Be glad they did’nt kill you and ride on safe in the knowledge they are on borrowed time.

    Ride safe everyone.

I quite like the look of the Five.
I bought my Mountain Cycle two years ago because it was a cheap way to get something that i knew would work out of the box.
As a first foray into riding a full sus it’s taken me all over the place.

As with the five it is a functional machine with little attempt to disguise the simplicity of the suspension.
Apart from the fannying around with drivetrain arrangements i’ve not had bother with the frame, only the stuff bolted to it.

Aestetics? Questionable. I like the it from certain directions. Side on it looks slightly short and awkward.

Well it took approximate 20 mins for my genitals to come back out of my chest cavity after the ride home from work tonight.

It’s bloomin pee’d down and i’ve discovered my v brakes work like KERS in the wet.
    I appear to speed up.
