Why not just get some new rims properly powder coated or resprayed then re build.

Sell the rims you have while they are still round enough to be useful to someone else.

Not been out since earlier in the week when we had the full moon.
My cheap compact does not do the sky any justice but you get the idea.

You could see the stars, some of the planets (i think) and the air was wonderfully still.

The grip was limited so it was fun on cheap continental slash tyres. They only seem to work in one type of condition. (stood still on a showroom floor)

I often wonder if a singlespeed perpetuates a stupid competitive thing in other riders.
My commuter does two speeds. stop or go. I always get some wassack does’nt quite understand i’m just cruising with my comfy ratio.. not chasing them down or any of that crap.

it would be more prudent to have a thread (closed)
offering tips to people so that they are less likely to be impacted by bike theft.

Call me cynical but it goes up every year for a month or so then we all think we’re getting a deal again.

That chap who specialises in road bike repairs.. the name currently escapes me.

He fixed a bonded bb shell on a cannondale roadie for an old pal.

    Found them…

flows weigh more than the earths core..
729’s are about as heavy as you want to go on a bike you want to still pedal upwards occasionally.

I’d stick with the 729’s and get some faster rolling rubber.

If you are a sensible sized group of farts then a wander round all the local proper beer pubs would serve you well.

The Ouseburn valley has some great pubs.. a quick taxi away from your hotel.

    You’ll need 30mm sealkit..

And some 5wt or 7.5wt suspension fluid.

Either, buy that from crc for a fiver for some Stendec stuff or local motorbike spares place for double the quantity for the same price.

I’ve often wondered why hope don’t expand into making parts for other industries.
Thomson make products for cyclists and aviation.

I have one as a spare commuting light.

It’s a canny bit of kit and being able to stick normal batteries in when stuck without a charger is handy at times.

As above i don’t know why they ship with a helmet mount as it’s way too heavy.

    Be nice…
and just enjoy the bit where you leave for the last time.

The people you are leaving behind will become a distant memory soon enough.

It may be quite cost effective to just change the whole hub if that proves to be the wrong part.

They’ve probably been discontinued because they discourage people from owning five specialized bikes.

Why have five when you can have one that is extremely good.

Are you the guy who stood being a div about everyone elses riding at the top of GT last time i was there..

He was on some uber bike spouting macho crap about trail centres..
how he rode natural trails and had lowered himself to riding with his mates at GT that day..

    Pedal on
    Nothing to see here.

The most irritating thing on the commute is the pillocks with a rave on the handlebar..
especially when it’s away from traffic on a cycle path.
    Totally pointless.

    STOP FLASHING AT ME.

Oodles of reflective tape, sks guards (badly fitted by yours truely)
Three rear lights, cheap crap flashy front one and a magicshine eye burner.

I like to think that this is more gopping…

And for silly days out in the hills.

And an inbred i have next to no pictures of.. partly because it makes my other two bikes look beautiful by comparison.

Quite often folk don’t use a cycle path due to:

    -glass
    -other cyclists
-wandering pillocks with badly controlled dogs/children
-or it does’nt bloomin go where you want to head.

I hope he gets stuck in trafic for the rest of his life.

As for cyclists who demostrate poor roadcraft they do much to tarnish the reputation and attitudes towards cycling in the uk.

I think the total could be in the region of 3500.
    More than last year.
This year a large chunk of the last two thirds of the year was ridden on a road bike which i really enjoyed.

The singlespeed pro2 is a superb hub.

Six pawls and a steel freehub. You can still run 6 speed on it if you chicken out of the singlespeed thing.

I run a freewheel on my commuter and it’s a source of headache every couple of months as i usually manage to kill them eventually.

2010 44’s let me down on a riding holiday and it’s sort of put me off slapping down the cash.

Windwave were the weakest part of the process taking 4 weeks to turn around a fork that merely needed a seal.

    Life is too short.

It was ever so slightly staged, not that anyone would notice that. :)

At the time, they were uncut raceface atlas bars..
I’ve since gone to a more sensible width.
