I often find myself wondering about this stuff in the odd idle moment experienced during a day at work.
Do we actually need companionship really?

Bikes provide most of the joy in my life at the moment.

My mate rides the same model of trance and it’s absolutely ragged.

Rides like a mini downhill bike.
    Brilliant things.

I really liked my ally one in around 05′.
harsh on a long ride though! (and god knows why the saddle was so high in that picture.

i run spesh eskars on hardtail and full sus.
    a control tyre i suppose.

Predictable, fastish. And not too expensive.

i’d rather be able to afford the pub than pay 45 quid a tyre.

    Sektors are bril.

I replaced a tempramental set of 44’s with coil sektors and it’s made my bike feel like the starship enterprise.

Was there yesterday and it was riding rather nicely. Even the sun was out..
    beauty of a day.

cornering lamps were something citroen did back in the late sixties using pulleys cables linked to the steering.

The yates bike alluded to by mistake earlier in the thread was the Dave yates “donkeysknob” and that was refering to the geometry i believe.

I’ll get my coat and sod off to retro bike.

    Go with the mx comps..
they’re no nonsense forks. I too have had crap experiences with 44’s just like the two reviews on crc.

Run a set on one of my bikes, and once past the long bedding in period they develop a buttery smooth feel.

    no.
    it’s bull.

I rapidly realised that most of the people i have nothing to with i want to keep that way.
Giving them free rain to see what colour my wee is does not appeal.

Seem to recal last time i went to ae one of the more entertaining decents had been tamed making it ride like a smooth bridleway.
    Shame.

But, a balance must be struck between sustainable trail and knar.

chances are you’ve popped one or both of the circlips that hold it all together..
expect to swear a lot as you put it back together.

    I love my fury.
I looked at them when i was a poor student and liked them, then, they came up cheap on crc so i hit the fire button.

Rides well enough to make me smile and fox shock has made it feel even better.

The new ones leave me a bit cold.. too fussy.

I own two mountain cycle bikes, but both are prehistoric models, the rumble and the fury.

The new ones look a tad OVER designed…

I’d have prefered something simpler to look at… certainly the paint jobs don’t do it for me at all.

i have to say deore skewers also..

I’ve gotten rid of all the bling ones i had..and got deore ones off ebay.

    Way better in function/and price.

knogs have been useless in my experience..
the latest big rear ones are extremely poor… spray gets inside them and then they develop a mind of own.

Gets some horse tranquilizers then they’ll sleep in the shed the entire length of ‘visit’ then send them on way after a few days..
    they’ll remember little… probably.

I suspect if you do an alpine decent every half an hour they make loads of sense, but, for the majority of mortals they’re an utter waste of cash.

    They do look pretty though.

Five quid post is a tad steep, does it get delivered on horse back or something?

I’ve had a trawl on ebay for you and can’t see anything there.

I’d be cheeky and ring use. Tell them you don’t care about fancy packaging… see if they’d charge you less post.

    Another here.

Have a John Lewis Credit card..
they called quite fast after an itunes US transaction.
    Odd.

Anyway.. long story short.. last purchase was a set of forks at you’ve guessed it..

Bit of a pain being without a card.

Just had a thought.. reckon she posts on here and the bike you mentioned was her crapper for using to commute.. whereas in reality she has a fleet of niche whore bikes?

chances are you were gonna create the same marks after a heroic pub fall still clipped in or just from pure absent mindedness…

We’ve all done it. Newish bike.. drop multi tool onto paintwork.

can’t help but think a 456 would do the same job and also do other stuff pretty darn well.

They are beautifully finished frames for the price however.

production costs/the drive for “progress” in a marketing driven speort where standards change over night.
hence the new hub complete with cross discipline compatibility… 150 etc. etc.

Thats why we got the pro2.

The ally freehub is soft as.. no other answer.

Why they would’nt just sell them with steel body like xc used to be i don’t know.
Quite a lot of people would not be bothered about the weight difference.

once discovered a rather weathered looking crinkle cut crisp in a cassette.
I blame pub beer garden pranks.
