Standard screed on block and beam floor is usually 1 mm per day, so your talking 70-80 days for what you’ve said. Only thing we sometimes use is a DPM, usually a expoxy based liquid membrane that is put down prior to flooring, but we’ve only ever done for vinyl flooring and I doubt it your builders would have used anything like that.
Personally I’d buy one of the small portable dehumidifier think there about £100 and try it out, what have you got to lose. Think the big commercial ones might be too efficient and dry it out too fast the small domestic ones aren’t as powerful.

My opinion not a professional fitter but have had experience in flooring. Sheet vinyl target etc when glued down and welded trap ant moisture beneath due to obvious reasons, plank vinyl karndean etc is glued down but not sealed on the joints therefore moisture can evaporate through the joints, so technically moisture can escape, very slowly admittedly.
Personally if you we willing to pay the price for karndean then this is a principle issue more than a money issue, so being a principal kind of guy I’d say issue them with a letter stating your intentions, threaten to involved the local paper. But ultimately I kind of agree with some other opinions and put it down to lesson learned..

Sold one last year, had estate agents lined up to sell it, but couldn’t get parked outside their shop to drop keys off on the way to the house, so thought I’ll do it on way back. Got to said house to find note through the door asking if we wanted to sell, 2hrs later price agreed and house sold. Used local conveyancer. Job done no agents to act as middleman and saved £2500 in estate agents fees.
So if you’ve got a buyer don’t waste your money on estate agents.

Last year an elderly gentleman was shot and killed by a group of lads in a car purely random firing (think it was a rifle) out of moving car window, hit the 60ish yr old in the chest died as a result of his injuries. Lads had been drinking and claimed not to have thought about consequences. Now has several yrs at hmp to think about it. This was about 10 miles from where I live, in a little village middle of nowhere. People don’t always think about what their doing or the effect it can do unless you make a stand and get the police to follow it up.
What’s to stop the next rider falling -swerving into the path of an oncoming vehicle .

I wanted to leave my job, bottled it for about a year then company announced voluntary redundancy, I was there at the front of the queue. It was the push I’d been looking for for about 18months, no ideas what was out there young family, mortgage, been in this job since I left school, so about 12years. I was lucky my boss offered to pay my notice without having to work it. Finished on the Friday night went away for a week with the idea of a new career, came back the following week, went into the job centre on the Monday morning, before I got to the counter one of my ex workmates rang and said we start our new job in the morning. So much for a new career, but more money same hrs, different people an dhtat was 20yrs ago and still there.
So yes there is life after an old job, if you worry too much you won’t do it, we did and now we laugh about it.

It’s old school building the head of door frame is acting as a lintel. common practice back in the old days.
Personally at 85 I’d say twin pack filler from a decent hardware shop and a coat of paint and let someone else worry about it, can’t imagine she goes in there that often.

strange smell of drains in our house when we first moved in, just put it down to been empty and shut up for 2 1/2 yrs went not long after we moved in. Took floor boards up doing work found 2 4″drain pipes not connected to anything apart from manholes outside , hence drain smell, just with open doors and windows the smell never got noticed.

2 different types of plastic waste pipes attempted to be melted together rather than buy a connector.

    and still going.

Hi, this is a difficult photo to identify from but my Zoologist daughter who regularly surveys for newts as part of her job has assured me that this appears to be a great crested newt from this photo. She says that “the dorsal crest looks big enough and the white flash along the tail is a unique feature to great crested newts. Its hard to say for certain without a photo of the underside but it definitely looks good for it! Give him a little pond and he’ll survive just fine.”

we had a stream running in our garden whenever we had heavy rain ,run off from the school field behind our house. i put 100m coil of 3″ perforated drain in wrapped in geotextile in gravel, went a bit extravagant and bought a 1000ltr tank. Me and junior spent the day digging a large hole in the garden installed it with a pump feeding tap at the top of the garden pipe work layed in the same trench as drain. tank is never empty don’t know where all the water used to go,probably got no foundations left. I had to put an 35mm overflow pipe in it was that bad. Best move we ever did garden is fine all year round and we have our own water tank for the garden.

we had a lot of problems with water off the field behind our house draining downhill into our garden, so set too putting some land drains in to get rid of water. decided halfway into the job to buy a 1000ltr ibc and recycle the water for the garden. 4 hrs of digging and 1 skip later tank is buried and working well, cant believe how quick it filled up and its only fed from the land drains, cost me About £200 but satisfyingly worth it knowing i,m doing my bit for the environment.

we moved couple years ago, ours went from £33 to £66 a month, put a meter in back down to less than £30 a month, so it worked for us. since then have put a 1000 ltr rainwater harvesting tank for garden watering, pressure washing etc working well so far.

we recently sold ours found house we wanted, had offer accepted all going ahead then our buyer pulls out, we didn’t want to loose the house we wanted so we decided to raise the money other ways then sell when it sold, only down side we had was found was the extortionate fees charged by the banks, setting up fees, survey fees, early repayment of mortgage, etc, council tax and other bills didn’t seem too bad compared with these. n hind sight we would have probably been better off knocking house price down and gone for a quick sale. Ironic bit was the buyer that pulled out was the one who bought it in the end

it’s a bit rough but if i can’t get tickets for a performance/show , i won’t go to it your only lining other peoples pockets and encouraging the ticket touting process to continue until people stop paying over the top prices then its only going to get harder to legit fans to get tickets. sad but true.

After being married for thirty years, a wife asked her husband to describe her.
    He looked at her for a while, then said, “You’re an alphabet wife ….. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K.”
She asked, “What the hell does that mean?”
He said,” Adorable, Beautiful, Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Foxy, Gorgeous, and Hot.”
She smiled happily and said, “Oh, that’s so lovely … but what about I, J, K?
    He said, “I’m Just Kidding!”
The swelling in his eye is going down and the doctor is cautiously optimistic about saving his testicles.
