The welds on my stans rims looks rough, but it sealed without any problems. HTH

    You could try this,

I have not used it & don’t know anything about it, so don’t know how good it is,

Bonty TLR have been no problems whatsoever on tubless rims. They seal very easily, go one without much effort & stay sealed. I can’t imagine that a UST tyre could be any better & TLR weigh significantly less.

Been tubeless for about 6 months. Had no punctures to repair( must have repaired 15/20 tubes in the 6 months before that) & it has been a completly painless process (using stans rims & a trackpump)

I have had no problems with Mud X’s on Stan’s 355 rims. In fact every Bontrager tyre I have tried has worked perfectly tubeless.

One of these works pretty well.

Bonty XR4’s, Mud-X both went on perfectly.

Bonty XR4’s do clog a bit in mud so wouldn’t recommend as a mud tyre, but it is a great 3 season trail tyre.

    Hi Iain
I did say we might try to get down during our Quantocks trip, but that’s happening on the 10/11 Sept now, so we won’t be able to join you. Watch out for the herd a cows in the woods & have a good one,

As far as I am aware it definitely isn’t ridable. I don’t think much of it remains.

After repairing about 20/30 thorn punctures in the 1st half of this year I decided to try tubeless. It has been a totally painless experience. First using Stans rims & bontrager tlr tyres & then as it had worked so well some xt wheels with various tyres normal & tubeless ready. No repairs to make since & only one burping incident on a rocky/tough (for me) ride on Dartmoor.

Could well be interested. We were going to try to get down to the Quantocks soon (probably Sept) so may be able to combine the 2. It may be too early in September though. I will ask if anyone else is keen & get back to you.

It was indeed a cracking(ooops) ride.
The trails did grab my attention most of the time I was heading downwards.
Pity I can’t make the pics bigger. That may be my first & last foray into the murky world of photo site hosting.

    one more go

I will look out for the stw southern chapter ride, maybe try a get a few others interested as well. It’s a long way down so that would have to be a boys weekend away :-)

Does anyone know why the pictures so small?

[Andy’s glasses were so misted up he missed the easier line to his right] That wasn’t mist on the inside, that was mud & water on the outside. PS it seemed like the right line at the time.

(Borrow a kayak and just leave it on the beach and go and quaff ale at the Sloop all day instead) That sounds like it would suit my Kayaking skills better

We get there this Saturday & leave next Saturday, but some GPX routes would be good. Will email you.

    trailmonkey
“good”, well if there is any terrain like the quantocks (really enjoyed it there). My riding partner would probably disagree as he has a bad hip at the moment. Do you have any GPX routes or are they MM only?

That’s disappointing. Is there not any good riding on the south of dartmoor?

Dan,I can put together a couple of routes for you but I live in Shipston which is about 15 miles west of Banbury, so I think my knowledge of tracks is some way from you. We do ride out towards Banbury on occasions, so do know the area. Email me if you still want a route or 2. Andy at williams dash net dot co dot uk.

I could put together a gps route for you, if you like, with the best of the area. Just let me know many miles you would like.

There are some ok tracks around there. Not much singletrack, mostly bridleways. We ride out from Shipston on a sunday morning & you would be welcome to join us, but it looks like we are going to travel to Stanton for a ride (still welcome to join us). Where will you be staying?

    I have a rush which has a 1.5″ head tube & I am using a hope headset to reduce it down to 1 1/8. It’s called a 1.5 stepdown.

Pretty sure I know this bombhole. If it’s the one i’m thinking of there are 2 distinct slopes on the downdside of the bombhole. I always do this in the normal “attack” postion on the bike, roll in slowish on the brakes on the first slope & soon as you are about to enter the second slope let go of the brakes. Don’t forget to brake on the upslope coming out or you will be launched over the brow & won’t stop untill you hit a tree!!
